So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start. ?

As of now? Party oval, partly square.
I could never do pointed! Oh, my goodness no. They look cool, but I’d poke my eye out, guaranteed.
2. Hair dryer or air dry?
Air dry, just ’cause it’s easier, although I’m proficient with a hair dryer if need be.
3. Which of these braids can you do: french, fishtail, waterfall or dutch?
I can do all of them on myself, but on others…just fishtail.
4. Would you rather have perfect wash-and-wear hair for the rest of your life or perfect brows and lashes for the rest of your life?
Gimme the wash-and-wear hair, please!
5. Rom-coms or thrillers?
Both, but I’m in the mood for a good thriller. I need some excitement!
6. A blush you wear a lot?
This one by Charlotte Tilbury. It’s been my go-to for a few months.
7. Flip-flops or high-tops?
High-tops, ATM.
8. When you get a gift card, do you spend it right away, or do you save it?
I save it…but I also misplace them from time to time. ? So I’m trying to get myself to use them immediately; otherwise, they tend to disappear beneath artwork, coupons and bills under magnets on the fridge or sit in a drawer for months on end.
9. Have you ever cried at work?
Girl, do you know me at all? ? Hells, yeah, I cry at work. I’m totally that person hiding and sniffling in that one stall in the bathroom.
10. Avocado or mushroom?
I’ll take the avocado, and I’ll put it in a smoothie. YUM! ?

Short, so does that make them slightly oval? I like the look of longer nails on others, but I hate the feeling on myself, so I tend to keep them short.
2. Hair dryer or air dry?
Air dry 100%! I’m to lazy for the hair dryer.

I can only do a French braid on others. I wish I can do any of these on myself.

I’ll take the brows and lashes. My brows are so thin thanks to being in my teens during the 90’s. So even when I’m home (like during these covid days) I still do my brows at the very least.
5. Low, middle or high bun?
High bun!! But I can’t wear it for too long because my hair will fall out (it’s a bit too short).
6. A blush you wear a lot?
Right now I’ve been mixing and matching shades from my Scott Barnes blush palette.
7. Flip-flops or high-tops?
Flip-flops, every day, all day in this summer weather.
8. When you get a gift card, do you spend it right away, or do you save it?
I save it. I like the feeling of shopping online, searching reviews, swatches (if it’s going towards makeup), watching videos about what I’m considering to buy. So I like to take my time.
9. Have you ever cried at work?
Yes! On several occasions, and I’ve used it to my advantage when my work did not want to release me (I was switching jobs). It’s a long story, and I’m not ashamed of it.
10. Avocado or mushroom?
Avocado all the way! I’ve grown up with avocados since my parents have a tree. My daughter’s favorite things I make include taquitos with guacamole and avocado toast (not at the same time). I always tell her I was eating avocado toast before it became a trend ?

How cool that you grew up eating avocados. They were always a once in a while thing in my family; my parents liked eating it for dessert! My mom would cut it up into pieces, put the pieces into a bowl. Then she’d pour in a little bit of milk, and then drizzle condensed milk on top. It was simple and sweet.
I would never have thought to eat an avocado that way, but I really want to try it now! Sounds delicious ?
It was the only way I knew how to eat it, and the first time I had it in a savory dish I was shocked, because it was always dessert for me. I hope you give it a go some time.

4. Perfect brows and lashes for the rest of my life because my hair is naturally straight and looks fine without effort, all I need to do is comb it. The down side of my hair is that it doesn’t do anything else but straight. Doesn’t hold a curl, can’t stay braided, can’t be styled in an updo, etc.

If you find yourself in this situation, I hope you can find a new job where they don’t treat you in this way. (::steps down from soapbox::)

I usually spend it right away. I’m the queen of the shopping wish list, so I almost always have something I know I want at most stores.

Ahh, the Benefit Box o’ Powders! They were my jam back it the day. Hoola is still one of my favorites. 🙂 Did you keep the little brush that comes with the box? I always end up ditching mine!
No, those little brushes are the worst. I like Hoola, too, although I have to be super careful with it, because it’s a little dark for me.
I forgot to mention earlier, if you’re in the mood for a thriller, try The Stranger on Netflix. It’s an 8-episode show based on a Harlan Coben novel, starring Richard Armitage ?(swoon) and Siobhan Finneran (from Downton Abbey). It is definitely **not** Connor-friendly. Nothing too bad that I remember, but I’d say for sure PG-13.
Ok, I think I tried that one a while back. I made it through the first episode then I forgot about it! Does it pick up speed after the first ep?
It does. It’s one of those, “oh I see what’s happening- wait, what?!?!” shows. Harlan Coben is very good at that.

Not too often at this job, but yes. Stairwell is the cry zone, and so was the fence by the construction site next door (also good to yell at the construction because no one could hear it. Very cathartic.)

I would’ve loved to have that construction site around when I was working in an office, Christine! I would’ve done the combo the yell and cry in a heartbeat. LOL

Lucy sounds like a gem. I bet she had the most fabulous mane!
Yeah, she was a gem. She had a super thick mane, so if it was too short it would start to stick up instead of lying flat. When we retired her we let her mane grow, but after a certain length it just got ratty and started tangling and it would half come out, so we just trimmed it to a moderately long length. Even when she was out in pasture we’d go out and groom her every weekend to every other weekend. She enjoyed being curried and brushed, especially that itchy spot on her belly. She loved the warm, moist towels I would bring to wipe her eyes and muzzle.
This July it will be two years since she crossed the rainbow bridge, but I still think about her alot and she still appears in my dreams.
Your bond with her was meaningful and magical. ? We’re so lucky to have animals in our lives, especially the ones whom we connect with deeply.

French, and I had to google the other styles! Most times my thin hair is just free and loose or in a low pony.

Perfect wash-and-wear hair. Mascara fixes my otherwise invisible lashes and glasses cover the brows anyway.

Huh…haven’t worn any since February, since I live alone and mask up to go out. Before that, Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy was a staple. A less pricey (and less antique!) fave is Milani Baked Blush in Bella Bellini. Gorgeous!

I’m a big fan of hiding behind a pillow/covering my eyes/turning off the sound or suddenly realizing it is time for a snack!
It’s gorgeous out today, so, naturally, I stayed in and did a load of laundry. How it amassed I’ll never know!
GIRL. If I don’t do laundry every few days I’m buried underneath a mountain of it by Friday! Seriously. I actually set reminders to do a load every other day.
You know what also haunts me? Vacuuming. It’s the same thing. If I don’t do a little bit every other day, I end up pushing that dumb ass contraption for 45 minutes on the weekend!

Gosh, it’s been ages since I’ve used a blow dryer and I totally forgot how terrible they are in the summer! SO SWEATY!
Seriously! I feel like I need another shower afterwards. I have heard good things about the Revlon One Step drying tool, but haven’t tried it yet.
I’ve had pretty good experiences with Revlon hair tools. They don’t perform as well as the $$$ tools, but they’re good for drugstore.

Put it in braids or on bendy foam rods, and then air dry. Unless I have it short-then I can go back and forth between that and just air dry. My hair’s naturally straight, but I don’t like the straight look when it’s long.

All of them on others or my dolls, but probably just Dutch on myself.

Wash-and-wear hair-I already have good brows and decent lashes.

I usually rotate between 5 different shades of Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes-Unstoppable (peach/apricot), Paaarty (nude pink-I’m wearing it now!), Dollface (bright pink), Blushing Bride (dark rose pink), and Natural Beauty (technically red, but usually goes on deep pink).
7. Flip-flops or high-tops?
High-tops, although I do think those flip-flops with the little wedge heel (and usually rhinestone straps) on them are cute.
8. When you get a gift card, do you spend it right away, or do you save it?
Usually save it, but if I ever get a Sephora gift card, I’ll probably spend it right away.
9. Have you ever cried at work?
Yeah, usually if I get into a weird mood and put off my break for too long.
10. Avocado or mushroom?
I don’t actually like either, but if I had to pick one, probably mushroom.
1. Nail tips: square, oval or pointed? Square. My nails aren’t very strong, and I do a lot of work with my hands, so I need square with slightly rounded corners. If I could have any shape, though, I’d try long coffin nails.
2. Hair dryer or air dry? Air is easier and better for my hair. I only use a hair dryer for special occasion styling.
3. Which of these braids can you do: french, fishtail, waterfall or dutch? None of these. I can only do a basic 3-strand braid.
4. Would you rather have perfect wash-and-wear hair for the rest of your life or perfect brows and lashes for the rest of your life? No contest: Perfect wash-and-wear hair. My hair is fine, thick, and super straight. It refuses to hold curls or styles, regardless of what any stylists, or I, do to it. My hair has driven many a smug salon stylist to despair.

6. A blush you wear a lot? Tarte Exposed. It goes with almost everything. I’ve actually worn the embossing off the top of mine, which is no easy feat. lol
7. Flip-flops or high-tops? High tops. I think flip flops should only be worn at the beach, pool, or in a public shower. Even if I didn’t hate how tacky they look, my arch is way too high to wear them. The thong part that goes between the toes just gets pulled out after a few days.
8. When you get a gift card, do you spend it right away, or do you save it? I tend to spend them within a month. I like to think about what I’ll buy, but I don’t want to wait so long I forget about them entirely.

10. Avocado or mushroom? Mushroom. I hate the taste and texture of avacados. I can only tolerate them if they’re really fresh and in a California roll.

I can do French on other people but I can only do it on my right side. I can’t get my left.

This is a hard one! Both would be fantastic! I guess I’ll go with brows and lashes since I could potentially get my hair to look good if I put any effort, I just don’t lol
