So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Have you started decorating for the holidays?
I have some Thanksgiving decorations up that I need to put away. As for Christmas decor, no not yet. Hopefully sometime this week I’ll get some lights and ornaments up outside. We’ll probably do the tree this weekend or the next.
2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy?
One thing that always helps is washing my face with cold water. Exercising first thing in the morning also wakes me up, too.
3. Have you ever had a bunk bed?
No, although when I was a kid, I always thought it would be super cool to have one, and then sleep in the top bunk!
4. A scent that says, “It’s the holidays,” for you?
Christmas trees and pine needles. I love smelling a fresh tree inside my house.
5. Cranberry sauce: does it belong in sandwiches?
I don’t mind it in a turkey sandwich.
6. How did you do your eyeliner today?
I tightlined my upper lash line and roots with a dark brown gel liner (Ilia Dusk), and then I did a swish of brown liquid liner on the top lash line with a tiny little flick (Clinique Pretty Easy Pen in Brown).
7. Jeans: with or without some stretch?
Just a little bit of stretch but not too much. I don’t like it when jeans get too loose around the booty and knees.
8. A lipstick shade you wear a lot?
MAC Velvet Teddy never lets me down.
9. Something you need to replace?
This might be TMI, but whatev! I’m way overdue to replace socks and underwear! Both situations are kinda stressing me out at the moment.

2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy? Well, coffee but also walking. The very first thing I do now, usually before even coffee just to get it over with is to walk a mile. It’s best if I’m not awake when I go so I can’t talk myself out of it.

5. Cranberry sauce: does it belong in sandwiches? No. However, I will turn my fresh cranberry sauce into cranberry salsa at which point I will tuck it into turkey quesadillas.

7. Jeans: with or without some stretch? Eh. A teeny bit of stretch is okay but I’d rather no stretch. I eat less if I’m wearing jeans without stretch.

2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy? Exercise, a warm cup of tea or coffee.

4. A scent that says, “It’s the holidays,” for you? Christmas trees. We went for a walk Wednesday one of the local school had their annual fund raising Christmas tree lot filled with trees. It smelled so good.

7. Jeans: with or without some stretch? No stretch. I like thick, 100% cotton jeans that hold it all in. I am a child of the 60’s and 70’s where you’d lie down on the dressing room floor, inhale and then zip up.

9. Something you need to replace? My stand mixer. Dear Husband had it repaired locally, instead of mailing it back to KitchenAid. But they screwed it up and now it grinds. I figure instead of spending another couple of hundred to send it back and have it fixed, just get a new one.

No. I only do a tree and I will probably get one this weekend.

My Nespresso machine. But yes to a workout. I forced myself up and early this am to do a 25 core strengthening routine and it really does make me feel better all day.

I did in my sophomore college dorm room! I slept on the top. Fun fact-that dorm room was across the hall from the dorm room featured in Scream 2.

Like you, a fresh tree. And warm spices. Like hot apple cider or wassail. Have you had TJ’s wassail? A hot mug of it is soooo good and so Xmas to me.

On a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich-absolutely! My brother is famous for his towering day after Thanksgiving sammies.

I didn’t. Just mascara.

A little stretch but not too much. I hate bagging/lose their shape jeans so much.

1. Have you started decorating for the holidays? Yes! I put some stuff out, hung some ornaments from our vents in the ceiling. I’m not doing a tree this year because my pugs ate the lights off my tree last year and I don’t want to buy a new tree this year. We’re moving out of state in a few months, so I’ll get a new tree next year.
2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy? Dry brushing, it feels SO good!
3. Have you ever had a bunk bed? Yes! My sister and I shared a room, and we had bunk beds for four years.
4. A scent that says, “It’s the holidays,” for you? Bayberry candles, my Mom always burned them at the holidays and now I do.

2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy? I’m one of those disgusting people who wakes up at the crack of dawn ready to take on the day. But, if I start fading later in the afternoon, a shot of Nespresso and a short jog gets me going again.

5. Cranberry sauce: does it belong in sandwiches? I’ve never had it in a sandwich, but I do like a small dollop on a hot, flaky biscuit.

6. I’m doing today’s poll specifically to answer this question. I’ve been wanting to experiment with pinks on my eyes but whenever I try I feel like I look like I have a cold. Today I actually used a pink lipstick to make eyeliner and then added a small cat eye with black liner underneath it. I think I was successful!
7. I’m actually trying to wear jeans less. This week is my goal to not wear jeans at all. I’m trying to expand my style and I feel like taking jeans out of the equation forces me to get creative and find other things that work.

1. Have you started decorating for the holidays? I don’t celebrate Christmas but Chanukah began on Sunday night and I have my menorah on the dining table so we can dine by candlelight for the next few nights. Tonight there will be three candles.
2. What things help you wake up when you’re feeling groggy? A strong cup of coffee!
3. Have you ever had a bunk bed? Only when I sent to sleep away camp.

6. How did you do your eyeliner today? I haven’t been doing eyeliner much as it always seems to be a hot mess. Lately though I have been using the Laura Mercier Cocoa caviar stick at the base of my lashes and smudging just a bit. It works to smoke the look out for me without it being too much.

8. A lipstick shade you wear a lot? Because I wear a mask to work, I’ve been only wearing clear lip balm. I have a Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Legend that I sometime wear, but not that often. I did finally buy a red lipstick but have only worn it once so far.
9. Something you need to replace? My home. It’s too big and too old. It’s definitely time to downsize.
Well, Thanksgiving came and went. Zack is back at school and will be home for Winter break in about 3 weeks. Hopefully, we won’t come home with an illness like Thanksgiving.

No, and I’m not sure I will this year. My sense of time is so off and I’m really struggling to acknowledge that it’s almost December.

Coffee, cold water either splashed on my face or shower, fresh air.

I had a loft bed when I lived in a studio, it was awful. Too close to the ceiling, so I was always hyper aware of not hitting my head, and the space underneath was too low and not super usable.

Definitely pine, I smelled wreaths outside of the grocery yesterday and was really taken aback. Also clove and nutmeg.

Absolutely! The tang and sweetness really complement almost any salty, savory ingredients.

Blended out. I’ve been liking Victoria Beckham’s dark brown kohl smudged out and a little messy.

Absolutely none. Dark, stiff denim ftw.

Either dark red or dark plum, but masks have really curbed my lipstick wearing. I miss it so much.
