So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Violet blush or violet lip gloss?
Violet lip gloss! I think it’s surprisingly flattering.
2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic?
The scents of the ‘80s and ‘90s that you could find at the drugstore, like Jean Nate and Revlon Charlie. My mom was a no-frills kind of person and even things like drugstore perfume seemed glamorous to me.
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven?
Honestly, I don’t even know. I’m not a car person at all, and I drive like a grandma. LOL!
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want?
There’s a new Chanel one that I would love to add to my collection, Les 4 Ombres Eclat De Nuit. It has beige, khaki, brown and taupe, aka all the colors that make me weak in the knees.
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go?
I’d go to Marin French Cheese with Connor and El Hub on a warm, sunny day. I’d bring a fresh baguette, brie, sliced apples, a tray of snacky veggies, a couple dips, bubbly water and cold juice. Maybe a bottle of wine if we planned to be there for a while. We’d hang out by the pond, read, watch birds and look at clouds. It would be nice to be outside for a few hours without any hurry to be anywhere.
Have a gorgeous Monday, my sweet friend. The storm that poured buckets over our little town seems to have subsided. Whew! When we were driving Connor to and from dance yesterday, we saw many of the creeks in our neighborhood at full capacity and close overflowing. It’s been a crazy, wet weekend.
Hopefully things will stay dry today. Anywho, I hope you have a wonderful Monday and that it sets the tone for a great week ahead.

I like both! I do have a purple Sephora lip oil in my desk drawer right now that I use quite often!

TIGI Afterparty (it’s a hair product.) I still use it! My girlfriends and I would go crazy for this stuff in college! I have an aunt that’s a hairstylist, so she could get a good price on it. My friends would all give me money to have her get them a bottle, LOL!
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven?
I didn’t drive it, but I got to ride in a Lamborghini. My husband has a friend who is a car collector, he gets cars relatively cheap and fixes them up. When he punched the gas, I literally screamed because it accelerated so quickly!
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want?
Something by Natasha Denona. I really liked the retro palette she has, but I’m not sure how much I would use it.
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go?
Somewhere warm and sunny! Maybe I’ll join you at Marin French Cheese! It’s been cloudy and foggy here all weekend, and the week ahead looks to be the same. I hope your weather stays dry for a while so everything can dry out a bit!

I remember when that product came out and how the packaging was considered scandalous, ooh la la!

Omg it never even occurred to me about the packaging! LOL all this time! Yes we would love to have a picnic with your fam! Maybe Connor Claire could get the girls interested in dance!
1. Violet blush or violet lip gloss? Lip Gloss, I have naturally rosy cheeks so I rarely wear blush.
2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic? The original Shiseido Zen perfume. They reformulated it and it’s not the same, but my husband can find the original fragrance and bottle when he’s there on business. That and Charlie were all I wore in the 80’s.
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven? Porshe 911.
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? Chanel’s LES 4 OMBRES Éclat de Nuit.
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go? Along Lake Michigan to enjoy the sun, some hot coffee and some pastries.
I wonder if I’ve ever smelled that Shiseido scent. Now I’m curious!

1. Violet blush or violet lip gloss? Oooh I’m dying to try out violet blush. Not sure if the gloss will suit me. Vincent Ford had a nice tutorial and now I’m itching to find that NARS one.
2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic? Berry lipsticks and Grey eyeshadow. I loved both and wore them like crazy years ago. Still can’t resist a good berry lipstick though.
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven? I don’t know how to drive 😉
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? Lisa Eldridge’s Sorcery palette. Sooo tempting.

Yikes! I look horrible in both. But I have to go with violet blush and look like an 80s New Wave person.

Perfume! A scent can conjure many memories for me.

Umm… I haven’t had the luxury of driving anything special. My husband’s truck, I guess?

I have had my eye on the UD Naked Heat collection for years now but I hesitate buying because I have many similar colors already. But, guurl, it’s still tempting me.

A nice sushi picnic on a rooftop terrace in some tropical city.

2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic? Stuff that was popular when I was a teenager, like those huge Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. I didn’t have money for stuff like that. There was also that “Indian Earth” product that looked intriguing in the ads, but I never got to try it.
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven? For a year or so I drove a Firebird Trans-Am that my parents owned. Didn’t drive it fast, but that’s what it was built for.
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? The Pat McGrath rose palette, the large one whose name escapes me right now. I just don’t feel it makes sense to spend that much on a palette. I also would have liked to own the ND Biba palette.
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go? Probably to that Kern River area my family went to around 1969. Though it’s probably flooded right now.
1. Violet blush or violet lip gloss? One of my favorite Dior Maximizers is Holographic Lavender. Love it! Chanel’s Lilas Glow Stick also makes me very happy.
2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic? Dippity Do Hair Gel. Back in the early 1960’s it was an essential when it came to setting our hair in those big rollers. Ahhh. . . The day of the bouffant.

4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? Right now I can’t really think of anything. I bought several pieces from the recent. Les Beiges and that has me feeling satisfied—for the moment! LOL
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go? It would have to be some place in my imagination. The weather here in So Cal has been terrible. Rain, rain, and more rain.
I forgot #3. Back in the day, my step-dad had a Shelby GT (I don’t remember the number) that was a real beast. There was a service road around the back of the airport where a lot of car enthusiasts would take their cars to see what they could do. I went with my step-dad once and he let me drive.

4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? I’m curious about the new Burberry quads or the Chanel spring Les 4 Ombres in 78 Rivage.
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go? Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Although it’s still in the 40’s in Tokyo right now so it would be a bit brisk.

2. Something beauty-related that makes you nostalgic? Manic Panic hair dye takes me back to the early 90s
3. Fastest car you’ve ever driven? I’m not a car person at all but I do think my Mini Cooper is pretty zippy!
4. An eyeshadow palette or quad that you want? Ooh the Chantecaille Sea Turtle palette but mostly for the packaging because I prefer to use eyeshadow sticks
5. If you could go anywhere for a picnic today, where would you go? Torrey Pines State Beach where it’s quiet this time of the year
