So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What could you use most right now: cuddles with pets, a hot cup of tea or a nap?
I’m drinking a hot cup of tea at the moment, and I’m not too sleepy, so I’ll take the cuddles from the pets.
2. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how concerned are you about AI?
Girl. As someone who named her daughter after a great science fiction heroine who rises up to help defeat the robots, I’m going to give this a solid 10. I’m freaked out, man!
3. Something unexpected that happened to you recently?
Well, I saw a bobcat out of my window when I was at work last week! (See the pic at the top.) The campus has a lot of trails and open space, and I frequently see deer and other animals out and about. This was the first time I ever saw a bobcat, though. She was pretty cute! Immediately after taking the picture, I texted it to El Hub, and he said, “Don’t go out there and try to make friends with that cat, sweetie.” HAHAHA!
4. What would you rather have miraculously show up on your doorstep: dinner every day for the next week, a new pair of shoes, a cute cat who wants to adopt you or two bags full of groceries?
Dinner every day, for sure. In this scenario the meals would be delicious and nutritious, too.
5. A beauty product that you used to think was glamorous?
I thought Jean Nate was the height of sophistication when I was in elementary school, LOL!

Cuddles with pets – but unfortunately, I don’t have any due to bad fencing, bobcats, and the fact I should move within the next year. Also, my health might be deteriorating – I got some bad news on a biopsy recently (not cancer yet – at least not proven). I have had a bobcat in my yard three times in the last 2 years that I know about. They’re trying to take back suburban areas that were built in the 1960s.
2. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how concerned are you about AI?
10, mostly because sociopathic narcissists like Musk are involved in it. By the way, I’d call him that to his face. He’s a menace.
3. Something unexpected that happened to you recently? Nothing good, unfortunately. I guess the “pre-cancer” biopsy would qualify as unexpected.
4. What would you rather have miraculously show up on your doorstep: dinner every day for the next week, a new pair of shoes, a cute cat who wants to adopt you or two bags full of groceries?
Probably the cat! Especially if it were a Siamese cat – they’re so dog-like.

Max Factor makeup in general. I’m pretty sure that’s not sold in the US anymore but is sold in Europe.

2. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how concerned are you about AI? 7, the potential for misuse is high, but this is from a 66 year old who still owns a flip phone.
3. Something unexpected that happened to you recently? I got a beautiful free lip gloss (orchid – a muted shimmery plum shade) from Au Naturale Cosmetic with a hand written note thanking me for my partience as my order was a few days late. Their customer service is the best!
4. What would you rather have miraculously show up on your doorstep: dinner every day for the next week, a new pair of shoes, a cute cat who wants to adopt you or two bags full of groceries? Two full bags of groceries, I love to cook, but I get tired of shopping.

3. Something unexpected that happened to you recently? Maybe not unexpected…but I am actually sticking to my health kick (exercise and food choices)

1. What could you use most right now: cuddles with pets, a hot cup of tea or a nap? Right now? Well, I just had a a short nap followed by some cuddles from our sweet husky, and I’m sipping an espresso as I type this so I guess I’ve covered all the bases.
2. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how concerned are you about AI? Although I’m 81, I am keenly interested in all the technological advancements we’ve made in communication. Over the years I’ve learned that it isn’t the technology that is the problem; rather it is the people who use it. So, am I concerned about AI? No. am I concerned about the people who manipulate it? Yes. We need to do a much better job of teaching our youth and the general public how to recognize it.

5. A beauty product that you used to think was glamorous? Back in the 1960’s I loved Eve of Roma skin care. I had to drive in to Beverly Hills to purchase it. I felt so worldly wise and sophisticated—lol.

I baked a coffee cake using a new-to-me recipe this afternoon. The cake kind of collapsed when removed from the oven, and part of it broke off in the tube pan during the removal process. However, it tasted delicious.
