Are There Any Products You Wish You Could Find Dupes for But So Far Haven’t Been Able To Find?

November 13th, 2013 by Karen 59 Comments

I love Becca Cabrera
That’s Becca Cabrera along my lower lash lines… LOVE IT!

Just one (that I can think of right now) — Becca’s Cabrera Liner.

MAN! It was a limited edition dual-tipped liner from 2012’s Balearic Love collection. It has a gorgeous dark chocolate bronzy violet on one end and a warm reddish bronzy brown on the other. I’ve looked and looked and just haven’t been able to find anything quite like it.

PLEASE, if you know of a dupe for it, I beg you, let me know.

becca cabrera

becca cabrera swatch

I have three backups (yes, I like it that much) — well, four if you count the one lurking somewhere lost in my hella messy office — but the day I finish that last one will be a dark day filled with many glittery tears…

I’ve tried to concoct something similar mixing different liners and have gotten pretty close, but it would be so much easier to just find a dupe (or encourage Becca to rerelease it, hint-hint).

If you happen to know of a dupe for Cabrera or anything else mentioned in the comments, chime in. Help a fellow huntress out. 🙂

How about you? Are there any products you wish beyond reason you could find dupes for but haven’t been able to yet? You never know. Perhaps a dupe exists…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy hump day.

I’ve had to quit trying to find dupes. The original is always better! At the same time that means I’ve had to quit buying limited edition shades because my heart is always broken when it runs out. I so badly wanted NARS Mysterious Red, but convinced myself to not partake. I did manage to find a 99% dupe though (NARS Red Lizard) so someday I’ll have the color 🙂 Both shades of the Becca eyeliner are perfection…I hope you find your dupe!

I’d love to find a primer that does the same thing to my skin as the Fusion Beauty Anti-Acne primer did. I was SO sad when it got discontinued 🙁

There was this milky pink lipgloss from origin I bought ten years ago and I still remember it. They discontinued the formula and I was so disappointed. I’m still thinking about it after all those years!

MAC Gem of Roses is my all-time favorite lipstick and it was limited edition. It seems like an easy shade to find a dupe for, but actually, I have not been able to. If MAC ever repromotes this color I am buying about 4 of them.

Finally, a place to vent about something that’s been irritating me for months now! L’Oreal Fairest Nude is my HG nude lipstick color-wise: I’m pale and cool-toned and I love the hint of cool mauve in Fairest Nude. Unfortunately, I hate L’Oreal’s lipstick formula. The scent makes me feel ill and the lipstick itself is drying. I’ve searched for a similar shade in the drugstore, at Sephora, everywhere, but I can’t find that perfect cool-leaning nude. Any help would be greatly appreciated…

Yes, unfortunately – Clinique’s Glosswear For Lips in La La Lilac – it just disappeared from my universe, never to be seen again. So, so sad – it was the PERFECT color for me, a shimmery pink/light lilac that I felt terrific in. I’ve purchased (seriously) at least 50 lip glosses trying to duplicate the magic that was this shade but it’s just not meant to be. I have about 1/5th of the tube left and I’m saving it for when I really want to make a good day great – if I ever get married again I swear this is what I’m going to wear… 🙂

Wow, I can see why you’re hooked on that eyeliner! They discontinued a Chanel foundation I loved. It was before my beauty-addict days, so i didn’t even know what it was called, only that my shade was no 50 Hale. I used to go to the counter, point at the bottle and say “I need that one.” Until one day I went and it was gone.
I am very happy with Nars foundations now, however…LOL.

Guerlain Galia was my perfect lip color. I found a pretty close match in the new Giorgio Armani line, but it’s just not the same. There’s something for me about pulling out that Guerlain packaging. I’m hoping they have a big release next year after having discontinued so much of the Rouge G line this year.

I have two favorites for which I am ISO dupes (high or low; at this point, I don’t care).

Benefit used to make a concealor called Galactic Shield w 2% salacylic acid. It came in 3 shades and #2 was a perfect match for my Irish-and-Sicilian color. For a while it was on eBay for a king’s ransom, but eventually I was down to my last one an someone BROKE INTO MY CAR AND STOLE THE BAG in which my lassssst twisty tube was hiding. I told the Philadelphia police that I was more concerned about that than my AmEx and it was true. Sob. Help?

Second is Laura Mericer Stone Slate LE eyeliner. I have a couple, but it’s LE holiday 2012. Karen, can you pull strings and get them to add it to perma line? It’s soooooo good with hazel eyes! If not, know a dupe? Neiman or Kmart, I don’t care. I need that color.

    Merci

I’m super bummed that Gash by Urban Decay is gone… I adored the gloss (although I don’t buy much UD gloss anymore because the squeezy tubes aren’t my fave). I still have a tube of the lipstick with the cool sword-hilt packaging. Gash just works so well on me, and I love the smell, texture, finish, color… just everything! I could wear it year-round, and it’s such a special violety-wine-red that never accentuated my acne (something I always have to consider when buying a new red). And now they’re not making it anymore! By the time it was gone, I was just starting to get into the beauty community for serious, so I would have never thought to stock up on it. I’m sure there are dupes out there, but I have yet to find them!

I’ve been on the hunt for a good substitute for the Body Shops Vanilla lotion. So sorry they discontinued it. I love wearing it under some of my favorite vanilla perfumes. Unfortunately most companies mix in other scents with vanilla lotions I’m looking for a pure vanilla lotion.A few people on Ebay are selling it for way too much money, so I’m looking for a good dupe.

My gosh, where to start…? LORAC Boudoir eyeshadow is the perfect taupe for my cool-toned super pale skin, but of course it was LE. MAC Satin Taupe is close, but it leans a teeny bit browner on me and doesn’t blend as easily into my natural skin. I also have a Korres blush (the name escapes me) that I can’t find locally, so I have to hunt it down online. There are a bunch of others that have gone over the years, but those are the toughest to replace right now.

I wish I could find dupes for a couple of Bobbi Brown lipstick shades (raisins and roseberry.) The colors are gorgeous and so natural, but I dislike the formula. The have so little staying power and seem to slide off after application. God forbid you should drink something while wearing it. Your glass or cup becomes a smeary mess way beyond the norm.

Estee Lauder released a lipstick called Rose Sapphire in a holiday collection in the early-2000’s. I wish I had realized then that would be my HG shade that no other lipstick would ever suit me as well. I used up my tube, stole my mothers and saved it for special occasions, but it’s been long gone. Years of searching and still no exact dupe.

I really miss L’Oreal Endless lipstick. Not any particular shade (although since I used the last of the Sparking Sandstone tube there’s been a hole in my lipstick wardrobe), but the overall formulation. Went on easily, lasted a pretty respectable length of time, had nice colors and almost no odor… *sigh*

I might actually be able to help you on this Karen! UD crash (discontinued but still available in the sale section at urbandecay.com for a mere $4) looks like a slightly shimmery version of the color on the left. UD rockstar could also be a dupe. UD corrupt looks close to the one on the right although it may be a tad darker. Hustle also looks similar to the swatch on the right. Both hustle and rockstar are in the Ocho Loco set so I suggest going to your local sephora and swatching them since if I had to guess those would be the 2 closest 🙂
