Hello, and happy Caturday, friend! Ahh, sweet silence. I really didn’t understand how much I loved hearing the quaint sounds of wild turkeys gobbling and leaves rustling in my neighborhood until the cacophony of jackhammering and sawing took over last week.
The construction has been moving along at a quick clip, which on one hand has been great, because most of the downstairs is almost done.
On the other hand, it’s been, to put it mildly, very, very loud. My nerves are shot, homie!
Still lots to go, though.
I’ve got a ton of moving this weekend to do again, so short and sweet Saturday Surfing today. I’ve been reading a lot about perfume lately, so fragrance fanatics, this one’s for you.
This week’s reading
- Favorite read of the week ——–> “I’m the perfumer who created the scent you love to hate — Abercrombie & Fitch’s Fierce.”
- How the iris root became one of the most expensive and coveted ingredients on the planet.
- Did I ever tell you about the time I had a panic attack at IKEA because I couldn’t find any windows or exits? Anywho, another story for another time. They do have a new home fragrance collection, though!
- The history of Acqua di Parma, one of my favorite Italian fragrance houses.
I’m off to move boxes/do squats for the next 48 hours. If we can empty the entire upstairs successfully before Monday, then there’s a good chance the work will all be done by next Saturday. Cross your fingers and toes for me!
What are ya up to this weekend?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Maybe you’re doing what I should have done. Instead I just bought a new house, waited 15 months and moved 2 weeks ago (well more like 10 days ago). I’m with you though, it’s H*LL packing and moving all those boxes and I’m about 30 years older than you! The good news is we finally have our TV installed. Sad, but I really like watching my evening programs.

We thought about doing that. The market was really hot in our area and we briefly considered selling, but the big issue that people have been running into (including friends of ours who just recently sold) is that you can’t find places to rent or buy here. Everything is overpriced! You really have to leave the area. Anywho, moving is hard!

Your floors look beautiful, Karen! Hopefully you don’t have to deal with all the construction noise for too much longer.

Now you need area rugs. Garnet Hill has some beautiful ones that aren’t badly priced and go on sale sometimes! Looks gorgeous, Karen. And so much easier to keep clean! Does Rosie approve?
How funny that ikea has fragrances now. Not a shocker though. You can review those next time you go!! I just had their salmon and fruit plate a few weeks ago. My family roots are Swedish on two sides out of four, and my MIL used to go there just to eat meatballs, lol. I buy Hubs giant buckets of lingonberries there. You could always hang out in the cafeteria if you need windows!!

Hi Karen!
What type of flooring did you end up going with? It looks so good! I’m kind of interested in that stuff after redoing my home before moving in about 5-6 years ago! You will love having solid surface as opposed to carpet, and you can just get area rugs if you want something soft to walk on! Happy Saturday! I hope your moving and packing/unpacking goes fast!

House looks great!
We’re getting close to done with prep for our move. We rented a dumpster for the week to get rid of our broken couch and a few other big things. We’re doing the big stuff next Sunday, and doing s few runs back and forth during the week with some of the more fragile items. It’s exhausting!

The floors look great! One of the final house projects for us will be installing hardwood upstairs to match the downstairs. Not looking forward to moving everything out though. That’s why it’s after a landscaping redo (soon), a gas-piped generator, some electrical improvements, and getting Dry-Lok off the basement walls.

Fingers and toes crossed! I never appreciated silence as much as I did after starting to work in a loud environment and then having kids that make at home be loud too!

It’s looking beautiful!
