G’morning, sweet girl!
First things first: Welcome to the weekend. ?️? I know you probably want to use it to get stuff done, but don’t forget to take some time to take care of *you* today, even if it’s just 15 minutes sitting in your air-conditioned car listening to music (now THAT’s my idea of “me time”) or going to the mall for a couple hours to do some window shopping.
Short and sweet Saturday Surfing today because I’m on Uber mom duty, driving Connor Claire to her various toddler appointments, which include two play dates — one with another human child and one with a cat.
Even though I can’t stop comparing her to Tabs (this is normal, I’ve been told), that mama cat I met last week at the home of a friend who’s also a kitty foster mom and I have been getting along just fine, I think. Now Connor’s going to meet her today, and I’m hoping they get along, too.
Coywolf will probably make a beeline for the mama cat’s kittens, and will probably beg and plead for one, but the plan is to say that they’re all spoken for… That’s the plan, in theory, at least, ha ha!
On to today’s reading…
- More evidence that cat ladies are slowly taking over the world: Swedish scientists have developed a vaccine to make cats less allergic for the ladies (and gents) who love them.
- If you’re lucky enough to live with a feline with long, luxurious fur, here are the three best clippers for cats with mats, according to Bustle.
- Four common mistakes facialists see their clients make all the time (I’m guilty of a couple)
- NARS posted a video of melting lipstick that looks like a dude’s junk, and people are mad. Welcome to the Internet!

You know I’m gonna have to go there, right?
Yes, please.
In case you missed the ’90s…
Tell me something good, cat ladies! ?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

That’s a beautiful kitty! Fingers crossed ?
I’m so excited for the Little Women movie! I’ll have to reread.
Jennifer says
Looking forward to Little Women as well as Downton Abbey movie.
I’m not sure that’s your cat.
Good luck with the cat hunting.
Give my best to Connor Claire.

I hope the mama kitty will be able to find a home with you. You can never replace a person or pet that you loved and lost and you shouldn’t even try. They were as unique as you are and the relationship you had was the product of bringing your two souls together to create something beautiful. If you open your heart to a new relationship—not a replacement—you will be deeply rewarded. At my age, I’ve loved and lost many times and know that we have the capacity to love, love, and love again. Each relationship is special in its own way.

Mama cat is a cutie! Yes, comparing is normal, but that goes away fast as you build a new relationship. Have fun this weekend!

I had a long haired cat with a fuzzy under-layer and the best brush was a tangle teezer. She never got mats and really liked being brushed. I still use it on my shorthaired boy and it pulls out so much hair and he loves it too! You don’t have to get an authentic Tangle Teezer either. Mine is a Goody knockoff.
I recently adopted a mama kitty. She was at the shelter and all of her kittens got adopted with just the mama left. Kittens always are picked first but there’s something to be said for adopting an adult cat. Especially if you like your stuff because a kitten will destroy it! (furniture, curtains, carpet, blankets, cords.) Adult cats already know their manners! Lol!
Karen says
Yes they do! The kittens are super cute, but they are a lot of work. I haven’t lived with one in ages… I’m telling myself to stay strong when Connor asks for one to come live with us.
Susan T. says
You could bring home the mama and one kitten! I kind of wish we had that option when we adopted our mama but the kittens were already gone. You wouldn’t have to worry about them getting along as they would already be bonded. Kitten would get his mama and she would be good at keeping the kitten entertained. Win/win!
Karen says
I was seriously thinking about that. Two cats = two times the poo and two times the vet bills though.
Susan T. says
And two times the love! 🙂
Karen says
Yes, that too!
Danielle says
I hope all goes well with the mama kitty! Love the throwback songs from the ’90s! Happy Saturday everyone!
Karen says
She’s very sweet! I hope she and Connor get along too.
I miss all the ’90s club songs. 🙂
Happy weekend, Danielle!

I’m glad the dates are going well. 🙂 The mama and kitten idea is genius. My friend just got 2 puppies, sisters from the same litter, and they’re adorable together. But, yes, twice the work for sure.
