Good morning to ya. How’s your Caturday going so far? Good, I hope. With everything unfolding in the world this week, I’m grateful to simply have shelter and feel safe at this moment, because a lot of people don’t have that right now…
I hope your tummy is full wherever you are. I hope you feel safe, warm and content, and I hope you’re surrounded by people who care for you and love you.
I try my best to keep MBB light and bright because, as I get further into adulthood (*ahem*), all of the real-world problems feel heavier and heavier, and my hope is that MBB can always be a temporary shelter from the big scaries — a place that feels safe to just prattle on about things that bring us joy, whether it be makeup, cats or pop culture. I hope you always feel good when you visit.
But, as you very well know, sometimes the real world intervenes.
On that note, hello again. Oh, guess what? This girl is going back to Sephora today because I just tried on a few of the new things I bought yesterday, and they looked funky…and not funky in a good way.
The Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint looked heavy and grayish green on my skin (the color I chose was Morgat), the Ilia Concealer seemed just a touch too thick, and the Caliray Mascara refused to hold a lash curl.
Hmm… Maybe I’m pickier than I used to be. All I know is I’m still searching for a mascara, concealer and skin tint that sings to my soul.

Does every celebrity need a makeup line now? I swear, there are so many.
I had to go out early this morning because my husband’s car was being serviced, but I took a nice nap after with Hettie and Jiji, and read in bed with them. I took Hettie on a nice walk while listening to a podcast and then made some brownies.
We bought a Nancy Drew board game by the people who make the Hunt a Killer board games that we plan to play tonight. It sounds fun!
Hugs to you.

Sorry about the Serum foundation. I mix mine with a drop of argan oil to get the finish I want, but it’s hard for me to find a shade as light as I am so it’s still a fav. The Morgat is one my MIL tried and it too was greenish on her skin. I know the website said “olive undertone” but it was more like Lily Munster undertone. Still loving the Ilia line overall though and their lipsticks are my daily go to lip wear. We’re both still searching for our Holy Grail mascaras too.
Can’t wait for Gwen’s line – I just love her.

That Caliray mascara was a big ‘no’ for me, too. Thankfully, I just had a couple samples from Sephora, so there was no expense involved.
Thank you for the article on bronzers for lighter skin tones! That’s always a struggle for me. I’m thinking about trying the Fenty bronzer, because I’ve been loving the Match Stix Contour Skinstick lately.

I’m always glad for your positivity; I find your blog is one of the few places where everyone seems to be kind to one another (even in the comments), and we can all use more of that. Congratulations on making this a safe space for all. <3
