Hey, friend. How are ya? I’m doing OK — a little blah because of the news lately, though. A looming recession, the recent SCOTUS ruling, the sense of living in chaos and uncertainty… Sigh. Anywho, I really need this today:
At least it’s Saturday. We have that. In case you need a distraction…
This week’s reading
- A men’s makeup history lesson. Side note: you learn something new every day!
- There’s a new gender-neutral fragrance that smells like bacon.
- Say what? There’s now an edible perfume designed specifically for spraying on ice cream. I can’t decide if this is weird or wonderful, hmmm.
- California-based beauty line, Vintner’s Daughter, just launched a new perfume.
- Anybody else out there obsessed with maxing out hair volume?
- Chic refillable lipsticks.
- Skin care worth scooping up from Amazon Prime Day, and guess what — they’re available now.
- The best skin care treatments for melanin-rich skin.
Chanel usually makes it better.
That’s a lot of cats.
Love her.
Note to self.
If you want (or need) to talk, I’m here. I got you.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I feel you on the first part of your post! Feels like we’re getting closer and closer to living in the Handmaid’s Tale!
I am bringing the twins to a barbecue at my cousin’s house, my mom is going with. The boyfriend is golfing. It’s nice to have family close by, especially to help with the babies.
An Ulta just opened in my town and they emailed me a 20% off coupon! Wondering what to get….
Karen says
Hmm, maybe sunscreen? It’s that time of year. Having family around when the littles are teeny is so helpful. My parents would drive up once a week to watch Connor so I could get some work done, and it was so helpful!
Have fun at the BBQ. Do you have the baby bag already packed?
Karen says
Also… I’ve been teary because of the news, and I’ve made it a point to let the people around me that they’re angry tears. LOL.
Rachel says
Yes I’m angry too!
Savannah says
Feeling very down today. Even if I wanted children this is not a world I would want them to struggle in.
Karen says
I feel you, Savannah. I’ve been trying my best to look at the glass half full today. I’m still mad, though.
Chelsea says
The news is definitely rough, and the rulings could mean changes to other important rulings.
I need to get my Sephora birthday gift! I think I’m going for the Anika stuff.
Karen says
So rough. I have been utilizing my deep breathing tool all day, sigh.
Re: Amika. Let me know if the mask is worth trying! I’m so curious.
Amalia says
I feel you and you are not alone Karen! As a midwife, I feel that we will turn to the physical and psychological terror. Maximizing wealth and consolidating power motivated the anti-abortion enterprise. The sense of living in the chaos and uncertainty, that some skillfully create for their own political benefit, bring these results. Europe and the United States are turning in dark times. Misinformation, populism, are increasing, turning people to extreme political parties, medieval practices. Education and cerebration on us and our children, will bring light again. Only education. Big hugs from Greece.
Anne says
The news are absolutely horrific. In Germany abortion isn’t easy to get and there are some regulations around it that I would like to see gone, but at least it is legal!
