Happy Saturday, friend! Hope your weekend is off to a lovely, calm start.
Can someone please explain why this sticker of the latest iteration of Belle (the princess from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” if you’re unaware) looks like she got glammed up for Instagram circa 2014?
If you look closely, she has the intense under-eye concealer highlight that was so popular back then. I’m seeing lots of bronzer and contouring action, thick black liner on the upper lash line, and overdrawn lips, too. I’m not giving Belle grief, I promise, because I’m guilty of doing all these things back in the day.
Anywho, she looks very different from the Belle I remember from the ’90s cartoon!
I can’t help but wonder if I’m the only person who’s ever contemplated this makeover, hmmm.
This week has been a doozy on this end of the keyboard. I don’t know why I seem to forget this lesson, but dang, starting a new job is really hard.
Side note: I’ve been at my new writing position now for about a month.
I’m using all the organizational tools I know and have, and I’m trying to pace myself, but it’s been quite the challenge to get all the things done. I feel like I’m standing in front of the ocean and the waves just keep hitting me over and over again.
I’m so grateful every day that I get to write, for real, but I’m feeling overwhelmed, to be honest.
It’s been weeks since I’ve put on makeup; I tried to yesterday, but I couldn’t even find my brow pencil. (WHERE IS IT?)
If you’re still stopping by here, first of all, thank you. Secondly, I hope that you’ve been doing well, and that life is treating you kindly. Here’s a couple banana notes for you before we get to this week’s reading.
This week’s reading
- Just in case you were looking for the best reusable makeup remover pads and towels.
- Minimalist makeup line Nudestix is launching a new body care collection.
- For the perfume enthusiasts: 7 new spring scents to sniff!
- “The philosophy in France is to take care of what Mother Nature gave you, and stylize that with fashion and makeup.”
- Witchy perfumes are a thing.
Beautiful!
I like this idea.
I need that red lipstick in my life ASAP.
Yes, please.
One more thing. What beauty things have you been into lately? Lately I’m really into painting my nails!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I feel you with the no energy for full makeup. I’ve been obsessed with perfumes lately. I’ve bought Billie Eilish 1 and 2, Phlur Missing Person, Kayali Pistachio, and Ellis Brooklyn Bee, which is my new favourite. I love them all for different moods. Bee is the one that other people notice and compliment.

Hi Susan!
LOVE that you are into fragrances right now. I recognize all of these perfume names but have yet to smell any of them. I need to go into a store and sniff some new stuff.
Hope your Saturday has been treating you well.

I really needed that first banana note Karen, so thanks! I’m feeling overwhelmed at my new job too. My old job I had for 9 years so I knew how to do everything and at my new job I feel like I know nothing! Slowly but surely, I am learning.
Today we went to our downtown theater and they were showing “Frozen” and kids were encouraged to sing along. It held the girls’ attention for about an hour which is longer than I thought it would! I am headed to target tonight to unwind and wander the aisles. I am also picking up that Naturium moisturizer!

It’s hard to start something new. We have to remember to give ourselves grace. Soon it will all be familiar, right?
Big hugs to the littles, and have so much fun at Target!
