Hello, and happy Caturday! ? Peep this adorable bag I saw at the bookstore the other day whilst browsing for books to bring camping this weekend (I’m on the Russian River today!).
You know what I just noticed? The Van Gogh Starry Night/Sunflowers kitty has his left ear cut off and bandaged!
BTW, kudos to you if you can name the other cat references on this ^ bag.
I also thought this pair of very purrfessional socks was très cute…
This purrticular (OK, I’ll stop the puns now) kitty has a very official Rosie vibe, don’t you think?
Oh, and these are the books I picked up at the bookstore to read out in the middle of the woods — The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi, and The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes.
Both are Reese (as in Witherspoon) Book Club picks. I couldn’t put down the last one I got a couple weeks ago — The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward — so I took a chance and grabbed two more in the hopes that they’ll be just as engrossing.
Speaking of reading, here’s your beauty news (and otherwise) for the week.
This week’s reading
- Say hello to these AAPI-owned makeup brands.
- Confetti eye makeup is a thing. ?♀️
- So are “wolf cuts…”
- And so is “skunk hair…”
- According to this dermatologist, these are the 3 skin care products everyone 40 and up needs in their routine.
- Everything you need to know about retinol…
- What are polygel nails?
- I’m not a nail art person for my own nails, but I think I might wear one of these cute designs.
- Oh, the power of technology…
(Puts everything in cart)
What is this magic?
Her introductions crack me up, and there’s so much good info in her videos!
Yes, show me the way.
I can’t wait to go back.
My friend Christine recommended Ramon, and I’m a little obsessed.
An interesting point of view
I spend most of my time admiring their skin, tbh.
In case you need it
Love this place.
I love me some Lisa.
What else have you been reading?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Man, the otters are so interesting! I like watching them bang the enrichment items to get the food. I’m reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F@ck. It’s helping me reevaluate where to put my energy. Happy Caturday y’all!

Mondrian, Matisse, Frida Kahlo. 🙂
Ooh, a missing brand from the AAPI-owned beauty businesses list is Live Tinted. I hope you get to try her products (or any on that list) and let us know what you think!
Happy Camping!

P.S. When I had to wear socks, Sock It to Me was my favorite brand!
I just finished the novella, “Agents of Dreamland” and the novel, “14.” I’m a huge dark fiction/sci fi fan. Both books were excellent!
Currently reading “Elatsoe” (some YA novels are so so good and imaginative) and “Cryptocurrency and the Blockchain Revolution” (I try to squeeze in one non-fiction in there).

Hi Karen – I totally love the Reese Witherspoon book
Club picks. I have read so many. I have JetSetters on my library holds list. I’m glad to hear it was a good one. Try her recommended Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens – I was sure I would like it but it is a beautiful story. And everyone I have recommended it to have really enjoyed it too!! Give it a go. The Giver of Stars is such a nice story too and some really cool female characters.
Keep up the recommendations.
Have a fabulous weekend – here in Canada it is our long weekend – the Victoria Day long weekend after Queen Victoria. Always the weekend before your Memorial Day weekend. Fun fact!

Loved The Giver of Stars! I’d be a packhorse librarian if I lived in that era!

Van Gogh was the only reference I got, but Christine killed it above! I’m impressed! 🙂 My top 1 to do when I go back to Oahu is hiking Diamond Head, which “we didn’t have time” to do, according to my family. We did get the Koko Crater Railway Trail in, at least.
I really need to start reading again. I feel like it’s been forever. I can’t even remember the last book I read. 🙁

The skincare layering video was so helpful, thank you!
I can’t put down The City We Became, it’s such a fascinating story/concept. I also finally listened to Tina Fey’s Bossypants on audiobook and just loved it so much.
