Just in time for the VIB sale

Aw, don’t make me get out of bed!

So sleepy…

The only thing that could get me out of bed right now is the thought of going to Sephora.

No, really, I’m going to another one of those classes this morning. This one’s Eyebrow & Eye Contour (I think).

I wish I could participate remotely from my bed…in my pajamas, with my cat next to me. But I guess that wouldn’t be the same. 🙂

My brother is visiting this weekend, so I have to go downstairs soon and tiptoe around him so I don’t wake him up while I make my decaf coffee…which really doesn’t work to wake you up, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Whatever you do today, I hope it involves a nap, or perhaps multiple naps. Naps are for Saturdays, and Saturdays are for naps.

Thank you for visiting, my friend. Have a wonderful day.

My last Sephora purchase was the Hourglass Ambient Edit palette. I was so tired of waiting for it to launch internationally and missed it when it came on net a porter and got sold out in hours. So I couldn’t wait any longer and ordered it from Sephora. Only after that I realized that if I had waited a couple of days, it would have been my birthday month and I would have gotten my Nars bday present. Took me a while to get over that fact but what can you do… I just had to have the palette.

    Hi Karen!

I absolutely adore sunsets and sunrises!!! The last thing that I bought at Sephora was that Urban Decay Setting Spray. I want, so want the Tart Holiday Palette with all the sequins. I can’t remember the name…. you blogged it so beautifully. I can’t afford it though. So the card would go alone way to help get it!!!

    I have three leather jackets.

Oh and Karen, I was going to ask you a question. What is your favorite primer? I’m using Smashbox Photo Finish but it make my make up look so heavy and “made up”. Can you recommend on that is midrange price that doesn’t do that? I do have acne scarring and large pore issues (sadly) and I have combo – partially oily/dry skin. I’m experiencing dry flakes right now bad. I believe it’s my acne medicine. Anyhoodles. I’d appreciate.

    Thanks,
    Gina

My last purchase was the Sun Safety kit that Sephora comes out with each spring! Love it so much. I give the Origins moisturizer to my daughters (they’re only 8 but it has SPF and they have a tendancy towards dry skin…never too early to start protecting your skin!) and I enjoy trying all the rest of the products. I’ve gone back to school so not many fun beauty purchases lately but it will pay off in the end. 🙂 Such a fun giveaway! I have about 7 things in my cart to remind me what I’d like for Christmas/birthday wishes (dying to try the tarte 5 blush set and Mario Badescu facial spray!) 🙂

hallo Karen! Hope your weekend is starting off well. The last Sephora purchase I made was the limited Bite Lib Lab lipstick for November. I think I mentioned it previously on here that I am a sucker for targeted marketing with personalized names or birthdate. It is NOT a colour I would get (all my lipsticks are pink based) but surprisingly, I actually quite like it. Was it worth the 40 CAD, now that’s a different story lol But at least I know, it will probably last until my final breath 😛

The bus stop to go home didn’t have any buses come for 2 hrs when it was pouring rain (but I got to walk home for the 2.5 miles, it was a warm-ish day, and I felt like a little kid running and laughing in the rain). I do my makeup in the bathroom because it has the best lighting. Storing makeup in the bathroom is a no-no because of humdity, but I seal it all in a medium-sized Lock ‘n Lock plastic container. Exceptions are pencils and products in jars, which are stored in a cup in the medicine cabinet. I hope this is enough to combat humidity!

It’s not the prettiest storage method, but it’s deliberate and compact. I’ve tried using a makeup bag, but it’s a hassle to move it between my bathroom and bedroom. Grr.

I’m headed out the door to take the kids to the park to walk the trails. The first time I suggested it my kids didn’t want to go but now they love it. I really enjoy it because it’s exercise we can all do together. Plus I’ve noticed in a quiet environment like the woods we end up having some great conversations.

You’ve given me so many starters. Have you tried green tea as a coffee alternative while you’re expecting? During my first trimester, I just took naps at my desk during my lunch hour. My morning sickness was too bad for me to really eat. (I survived on crackers, popsicles and pumpkin seeds! Lol. Oh, that was a tough summer.)

Although I know they say you shouldn’t store your make up in the bathroom because of the heat and humidity, that’s where they are. (Perfumes stay in the fridge, though.)

Karen… Did you have awful morning sickness? This is baby #4 and this one has been the hardest yet. It’s not just morning… Afternoon, evening… Anytime I’m not sleeping. Ugh. It’s so hard teaching. I run out of my room almost every time it’s 4th period. And that’s my robotics class and there are mostly boys and they don’t understand! I’ve tried Preggie pops. I have a bean bag chair in my class that I sleep on at lunch time. I have those anti nausea bands and they, strangely, seem to work ok. I always thought they were a gimmick. My doctor perscribed me meds but I’m so scared to take anything. Did you have it bad? What worked for you? It’s so bad that I don’t even want to do makeup!!!! And when I went for my ultrasound they said the baby was measuring 7 weeks and not 8 like it had been since my period so that means I have another week of this! Boooo! I hope I feel ok for thanksgiving. I love thanksgiving. Any advice would be wonderful.
And L’occutain or however you spell it is hard to say. And I always thought Lorac was not pronounced the way it is.
I really want the new ABH “self made” pallet. Maybe buying that for myself will make me feel better

    Happy Caturday Hot Mama! ?
Oml, is it just me or is Omorovicza difficult to pronounce? Once I hear a name spoken, I’m good from there, but I’ve nvr heard anyone say Omorovicza yet. I’m guessing that it’s “Ō-mor-ō-veek-sah”, but I’m probably wrong lol
Oooh I have a thing for sunsets!!! They are truly beautiful everywhere, but the ones I saw while in the Everglades are SEARED into my memory! It’s like the sky was so close it was touchable, plus the sun seems larger… I’ve nvr been at a lower latitude except while in the Baja, but I imagine sunsets near the equator to be super amazing in the same way.
& I just shelled out $50 (with the 20% off) for my holy grail foundation! I’m so excited that I FINALLY found one!!! It’s DiorSkin Forever in 022 Cameo. I got an awesome sample (ty Sephora!) that lasted me a month, & I didn’t break out at all! For my oily skin (T-Zone), that’s amazing because it’s NEVER happened before! Ever. And I used this foundation every single day (with the exception of Sat & Suns) for an entire month… Embarrassing to say, but I hadn’t washed my face brushes in at least 3months either…(I know that’s disgusting. They’re clean now). Oh, & I fell asleep in full makeup twice while wearing. I’m literally blown away by the Forever formula so I figured it was worth the $$.
    * plus I read somewhere that foundation, concealer, & mascara are the three products you shouldn’t skimp on, so I justified the price with that because it does make total sense. It’s your face.. Our lovely faces are worth it ?

    * SSL! Have a great weekend!!!

One brand that I pronounce differently every time is Loccitane. I understand that it is a french word, and even though I have Googled it and asked the staff at the Loccitane store, I still can’t seem to say it properly. I’d like to think that this is cute, like when a little kids says “pasketti”, but it probably just makes me sound unsophisticated. Either way, I still love the bath bar in the milk scent. Ahhh.

It’s pretty chilly in Arizona today so I’ll be snuggling by the fireplace and quite possibly nodding off in my attempts at getting warm. But first I want to put on some makeup just for kicks. I like to get dolled up even if I’m not going out anywhere special. The joys of being a girl 🙂

    __Arizona________ has absolutely beautiful sunsets.

A brand name that’s very hard for you to pronounce?

Fage – I always forget how it’s pronounced but it’s my Greek yogurt of choice.

Do you own a leather jacket?

    Yes, one.

What’s the longest you’ve ever traveled away from home?

    To Virgina.

What was your last Sephora purchase?

    X nail polish.

Where do you store most of your makeup at home?

At 35 weeks I’m stressed about not feeling ready, especially compared to before the first was born. And said kiddo is having a tough time, he must have had 20+ meltdowns yesterday. And I just spent his entire nap prepping and recording a video that turned out terrible. Sigh! I’d love to just record it again now, but that would be sticking the hubby on toddler duty alone on the weekend and he’d likely freak out if he could hear me talking but not be allowed in the room. At least tonight is our special treat dinner, either we’ll go out with the munchkin or get takeout. Okay, enough whining!

I love the fragrance “Romance” by Ralph Loren. I spritzed on a little of the new one (or at least new to me as it’s the first time I noticed it) called “Midnight Romance” from the tester bottle at the store the other day and it smelled heavenly! I was disappointed that the scent only lasted about an hour though. But maybe that’s because I only did 2 sprays. I’ll have to go back and spray a little more liberally and see it the scent lasts. I hope it does, because I’d love to treat myself to a bottle of that if it will hold it’s scent a while. I love perfume, but sometimes it seems like we are going backwards and making it less potent as time goes on. I hate that, I want to smell good all day long!

I never know if I’m pronouncing Guerlain right. It doesn’t look that hard, but it’s French, so I’m probably mucking it up. I was intimidated by Illamasqua and Fyrinnae, but they are actually easy to say, just look a little difficult!

My last Sephora purchase was a month or so ago – all I got were some Shiseido (wait – add that to the list of unpronouncables!) facial cottons and OMG were they worth it! I’ve been using cheap cotton rounds for years and not thinking too much about it, but then I read about these and decided $9 wasn’t too much of a loss if they didn’t live up to the hype – but they do!! No shedding, super soft, and they don’t fall apart, no matter how saturated they are. Plus they are huge, so I can cut them in half and still have plenty.

I let my VIB status lapse this year, so I’m a wee bit jealous seeing all the haul posts, but also living vicariously through them! 😀

Traveling to Japan at the age of 16 gave me a flurry of emotions. It was with an ambassador program through my high school. One on hand, the culture was deeply invested in me during that time. It was also the first time I was homesick. Love the memories I’ve retained, and those triumph over everything else.

Omg, girl… Sephora! VIB sale… Went nuts online and instore. I just got home from it. I bought my sister a KAt Von D eye palette for Xmas, beauty blender for stocking stuffers, one treat yo self Christian Dior lipstick … ( thought of you when I saw the Sephora concealer serum, I’d have tried it but I got the Bare Minerals one from Ulta a month ago )

I placed an online Sephora order last night (VIB Rouge 20% off + Ebates cash back = WINNING!) & I went to the store today. I bought WAAAAAY too much stuff, including the Shiseido Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum, two Sephora face masks (Honey & Pearl), a Dior Diorific Mat Lipstick (760 Fabuleuse), Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops (C + Radiance) & Bite Beauty Best Bite Rewind Set.

I don’t own any leather jackets- I wish I did! (I live in FL & we don’t wear jackets that often).

I never know if I’m pronouncing the following brands correctly: Guerlain, Bvlgari, Yves St. Laurent, etc.

I store my makeup in their boxes in my room (I thought I was the only one that did that! lol)

My last Sephora purchase was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Champagne Glow Palette.
My actual last makeup purchase was the Jeffree Star Velour liquid lipstick holiday bundle. I hope Sephora will eventually carry the brand. I’m missing six shades from the line. I want to eventually try the lip scrubs & Lip Ammunition.

What actually happened was seeing all the cute impulse buys they have near the register and getting a Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta peel, a cute tree ornament with nirvana white in it, a mini benifit roller lash, and a couple of the new sephora sheet masks, so. Thank you so much for switching back to Sephora prizes – I only use cruelty free make up so haven’t been able to enter any of the MAC ones 🙁
My last purchase from Sephora was my only ever purchase from Sephora and it was a massive holiday splurge since we don’t have it in the UK – I restocked my hourglass ambient lighting powder, got the ambient lighting blush in diffused heat, three Kat Von D lipsticks (but no lip liquid as they’d sold out of Lolita and bow and arrow – boooo!), Too Faced Kabuki and mascara. Could have easily bought the whole shop so would love to win and get my hands on a few more bits!

Last sephora purchase was chloe roses perfume. I’m not shopping the vib sale. I have more pressing plans which I will write about and maybe IG when I get back. Oh I don’t own a leather jacket , I was so close to getting one, nordstrom,- hinge brand but it didn’t fit over my breast. Ugh I was so wanting that jacket but I would rather it zip up more.
Have a question if you away on vacation do u put a few up on IG right then and there or wait till u come back and put up photos?

Just now, I placed a huge (gulp!) Sephora order… I used my 20% off coupon to repurchase things I regularly run out of, plus I ordered a fancy-schmancy blow-dryer that’s supposed to dry my hair really fast and get rid of frizz with minimal effort… we’ll see. And for fun I added a couple of lipsticks that I’ve been dying to try but that aren’t carried in-store anywhere near me, and a fourth Viseart eyeshadow palette (Paris Nudes). Like I said, huge (gulp!) order — but, I just had to put that coupon to work.

I really need to stop trying samples of really expensive beauty products out of curiosity when I think the prices are outrageous. I don’t know if anyone else has this problem because occasionally (like today) I end up falling in love with a product and having to talk myself off the ledge. I just tried a sample of the Natura Bisse The Cure Sheer Cream with SPF 20. It is beautiful. I’m hoping the Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm is similar enough so I don’t do something stupid. Writing about this feels like beauty addiction therapy, lol.

A brand name that’s very hard for you to pronounce? Chanticlellience or whatever it is. I try to avoid it as much as possible. 😀

Do you own a leather jacket? No.

What’s the longest you’ve ever traveled away from home? Probably Hawaii, although Baltimore may have been further away, it was still the mainland, so it didn’t seem as far.

What was your last Sephora purchase? Just ordered the Ardency Rose gold pigment set.

Where do you store most of your makeup at home? It’s kind of all over. I have too much stuff and not enough space, so there’s some on my little vanity, some in the living room, some on my desk. You get the picture.

anywhere in Martha’s Vineyard (Massachusetts) has gorgeous sunsets. There’s a place called Aquinna (I don’t think I spelled it right) and they have gorgeous cliffs. Edgartown is also very upscale and has a gorgeous lighthouse…..
At this time, I do not own any real leather jackets but I do own 2 gorgeous ‘minus the leather’ jackets from Express.
I have been having a tough time getting out of bed too lately…. with the clocks changing and it getting dark here by 430/5pm it just stinks…I want to hibernate all winter. I hate Massachusetts since we only get like 4 months of nice weather. I hate the july heat. I hate the December thru march snow. I need to move lol but I don’t know where….

A brand name that’s very hard for you to pronounce? Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy, especially if I’m required to do it in the proper accent.
Do you own a leather jacket? 1 leather hand me down and a few fake leather jackets. I almost got another (minus the leather) jacket from Express today… but I am waiting for a sale.
What was your last Sephora purchase? Today! I watched your video on the gel serum concealer and bought 2!
Where do you store most of your makeup at home? In my vanity and IKEA drawers

My last purchase at Sephora was Kat Von D’s everlasting liquid lipstick in Lolita. It was the first full sized lipstick from the brand that I purchased, and I really loved it! Not really sure if it was from the ‘bad batch’ though, because it look brownier than I expected, hahaha. Anyway, it’s kind of a ‘vampy neutral’ and, well, I like it.

Then I heard Sandra Bullock say it on Miss Congeniality 2, and I figure they wouldn’t let their name be featured in a movie if it wasn’t said right, so now I say it the way she does. 🙂 Now on to tackle Givenchy!

My makeup is stored in several places. The things I use most are in a train case that’s easy to move around and it holds a lot, I usually keep that on my bathroom counter. Extras and occasional use products (and costume make up) are in a storage container with drawers in a bathroom cabinet. And then I have some stuff in my vanity which is in another room. At first I thought I would always do my make up at the vanity but the mirror is too low (when I sit on the stool I have to slouch to see myself in the mirror) and the lighting is not as good.

The longest I’ve been outside the country (I live in the US) was when I lived in Beijing for three months. It was hard sometimes adjusting and being so far from home, but it’s such an awesome place. I’d love to go back (probably not for three months though!)
