Hiya! Happy Wednesday. The Sephora Savings Event is coming soon (see here for details). If you’re looking for an easy gloss to wear that you can just toss in your purse, consider adding Tower 28 Shine On Milky Lip Jelly in Pistachio ($16) to your wishlist.
It’s a moisturizing, semi-sheer nude pink gloss that’s I’ve been been wearing steadily since February. It doesn’t dry out my lips and is just sticky enough to stay on! I like the formula so much that I’m going to grab a couple other shades — Seasame (a semi-sheer mauve) and XOXO (a sheer pink).
I wore it yesterday to a “fancy lady tea” with Connor at a tea house in Marin called Crown & Crumpet. She’s home for spring break this week, so we’re hanging out and doing all the fun things.
Connor ordered an herbal peach tea with her kids’ tea service, and our sweet and attentive waitress thoughtfully brought out a cup of ice so that we could cool the tea down in her cup immediately. I love nice touches like that, don’t you?
Anywho, I ordered a regular tea service with all the fixings and a big pot of darjeeling (YUM), which I drank joyfully with plenty of milk and sugar!
You know what I realized while I was there? I’m not a fan of crumpets. The one I had was a little chewy, and I felt like I was eating bread-flavored gum. LOL! I did love the scone and all the tiny sandwiches, though.
If you happen to visit with littles, FYI, right down the street is an awesome playground with a huge rope climbing structure. It’s a great place to get some wiggles out.
OH! If you visit the playground and need to use the lavatory afterwards, you can walk right around the corner back to Crown & Crumpet to use the loo. That’s what I did because DANG, that tea goes right through ya.
Anywho, we had a great time! Highly recommend it if you’re ever in the neighborhood.
I’ve really been enjoying my time with her this week. It’s really starting to hit me just how big she’s getting and how short the window I have for her wanting to hang out with me truly is.
Hope everything is going well with you!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Do you have any Sephora recommendations for me?

That is such a cute little tea house and I love Connor Claire’s dress! I don’t think I am ordering anything from the Sephora sale this time – trying to use up some things I have stashed away. I was going to order SK-II essence but someone on Reddit mentioned that Costco has a giant bottle for about $100 less than Sephora sells it for and I was able to order it online. Enjoy the rest of your spring break with your daughter!

Thank you! If you look closely at her dress there are kitties. 🙂
Hope you’re having a nice week so far, Rachel!

I did notice the kitties! That’s my favorite part! 😻

It’s by a brand called Boden. They have a lot of cute things for kids!

What beautiful ladies! That tea looks fabulous-Darjeeling is my favorite too.
Did you have clotted cream to go with your scones (or a close 2nd Parmalat Nata)
Karen says
Yes! There was jam, clotted cream and lemon curd.

Love the fancy tea and the playground! I would have been all for that as a little.
I recently picked up the mini of the Ouai Wave Spray from Sephora – there’s a really good chance I’ll be allergic but I really want to try it.
Karen says
Good luck with the spray. I hope it works wonders for you!

I am currently on a trans-Atlantic cruise from Miami to Barcelona. I mention this because there is afternoon tea every day at 4. It’s wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about scones and clotted cream. Love Conner’s dress!
Karen says
Oh my gosh, how lovely! I hope you’re enjoying your trip. Please go to tea for me today. 🙂

I’m jealous, I want a tea place like this! 🙂 And I want to say: I know there’s times ahead that Connor Claire isn’t going to want to hang out with you, but she may also bounce back. I’m in my 30s, and I love hanging out with my mom lately because we are interested in a lot of the same things – who else is going to text me while watching The Sarah Connor Chronicles?????? I could see your Connor growing up to have that kind of relationship with you, too!

I love that you get to do afternoon tea with your daughter! So adorable! The last time my little boy willingly came with me was when he was 4 and he had a giant mug of hot cocoa with marshmallows. These days it’s a date at Shake Shack 😊 I always look for a place that offers afternoon tea when we travel. It’s the perfect break from the hustle and bustle.
