There was a time when Tabs would have darted down the stairs, leaping over three or four of them at a time, the instant he heard me call, “Tabby! It’s time for your Halloween photo shoot (and the treats and lurvies that come with it)!!”
But he’s a mature tabby now. He walks down the stairs more often than he runs, but I think Halloween is still probably his favorite holiday…
Oh, wait! I forgot about Thanksgiving, so it would be Thanksgiving first (you know, ’cause of the turkey), and Halloween second.
He loves, Christmas, too, but he doesn’t like winter because it’s cold outside, so we don’t go for as many walks.
This year for Halloween he’s wearing his very stylish King of Hearts cat costume, which, amazingly enough, still fits! I thought it might be a little snug for him, but it’s not.
If Tabs could really go trick-or-treating, it’s easy to know what he’d like to get in terms of treats and snacks — turkey (including gravy), tuna, bacon and Oven Roasted Chicken Feline Greenies. Together, they’re the keys to his heart.
And to think, for all these years, it never occurred to me to let him try bacon, but one morning a couple months ago I just randomly put a small piece in his bowl.
He sniffed at it insensely for a minute…then picked it up in his mouth and bolted out of the room! I’d never seen him do anything like that before, but he was so completely and utterly blown away by it. THAT’s how much he likes bacon, LOL! He had to hide it for a rainy day.
What are you and your feline friends doing for Halloween this year? It looks like it’s going to rain tomorrow night, so Team MBB will probably spend the night watching scary movies and eating pizza at home. We might take Connor to the mall first to do a few circuits in her stroller, but that’s about it.

Oh man! Tabs is such a patient kitty model. Neither of my kitty girls have the temperament to sit through a whole photo shoot.
Nora kitty loves salmon and sushi. If I come home with sushi she appears in an instant.
Dear Husband is working late all week. Engineers in from out of town so he needs to make sure they’re taken care of. I can’t be trusted with candy in the house (I’m not allowed any sweets) so I didn’t buy any, not handing any out and I’ll probably just watch something on the DVR or read a book.
Tabs is so handsome! What a good boy in his costume.
I went to the home of a makeup artist friend today for some pro-tips, and I got to meet her teeeeeny new kitten Castiel, who helped.
I have a full Halloween costume I had planned, but haven’t worn it and probably won’t this year! 🙁 I’ve been sick for a week and a half. I’m starting to get better, but I didn’t have the energy to put on my full costume for our work party on Thursday – I just did bigger than usual eyeliner and dark lipstick for an impromptu witch costume (I have a cute little hat from a few years ago).
Omigod, what an awesome costume for Tabs! He looks born to the rule <3 I really love how our pet friends have such simple loves, too. Like, my kitties still flip with excitement when meal time comes around, although the menu hasn't changed at all in the past 9 years…

I wish we could dress Tuna up, but he’s terrified of having things on his body. We can get away with a bowtie (or a harness if he’s going outside), but that’s about it!
Ernesto is against clothes, he thinks we should admire him for his inner beauty and his fluffy fur, so he manages to get out of anything we try to put on him, even if he needs to lacerate cute Halloween costumes for that, sigh…
