Yay! We got our tree! ?
Of course, Tabs has to thoroughly inspect it before any decorating can take place.
He has to make sure there are no chipmunks hiding in the branches, because you know chipmunks… You can’t trust them.
This year we set up the tree next to the windowsill where Tabs liks to look outside and survey the hill, and he really seems to like it. Sometimes he hides on the floor behind the tree under the branches, or sometimes he hangs out on his little platform perch.
Thankfully, he hasn’t tried to climb the thing.
Yet.
But it’s bound to happen…
We’re all just starting to get into the Christmas ? spirit around here. The tree was the first step, and it looks like Tabs approves.
Now he can embrace his role as the official MBB decoration tester. ?
It’s a responsibility he takes very seriously… 🙂

Due to Mina’s tendency toward knocking things over (no kitty tail = no kitty balance), I haven’t put up a Christmas tree. I love Christmas trees though! Good to see that Tabs is making sure no intruders get into his house.
Your windows are gorgeous, they let in so much California light!! Great spot for a tree. And first one with baby, I bet she loves it!!
Our dog, a stubby and good natured basset-coonhound mix, has been working his way around the bottom branches here, “snacking” on low-hanging ornaments. We’re moving them all up today so the bottom of the tree is bare and only the top is decorated! It’s a great look. Fortunately he doesn’t have it in him to charge the tree. He’s, um, statuesque and has a lot of leverage!

Our tree won’t go up until a few days before Christmas (but stays put until January 6th). Oh, and enjoy the preparations. Christmas is extra special with a kid.

Tabs is so cool!
We used to run a piece of wire around the tree trunk to a small eye hook in a piece of window moulding behind the tree when our girls were kittens. Nora’s at the age where she just likes to curl up under the tree now. Thankfully Dear Daughter took the wild child kitty to live with her.
I say it a lot, but it needs saying again. Connor is so precious!! Hope she enjoys her first Christmas! Has she been to see Santa yet?
