It’s weird, but in the kitty modeling world, right after the Academy Awards, there’s always a lull that lasts about a week. Apparently, after all of the red carpet coverage and after parties, many of the top photographers in the biz take a few days off to recoup. It makes sense, I guess. But things are starting to pick up again, and Tabs had a few new jobs this week.
As a matter of fact, here’s a look at his portfolio of recent work. Oh — and if you think of any cool campaigns you think he should do, let him know in the comments. There’s a lot of competition out there, but he can pretty much get any job that he wants. 🙂
Who is Tabs the Cat? About three years ago I befriended a stray, flea-bitten tabby cat with a bad case of worms. I could see he’d fallen on hard times, but his profound knowledge of high fashion and department store cosmetics led me to believe that he was more than meets the eye. We became fast friends, and now he’s actually my boss (and a successful kitty model).

Oh, it’s been about a decade now. I am happy to treat her like a princess because life as a stray is rough!

Did you get her from a shelter? Tabs was wandering around our neighborhood when he decided to stay with us permanently.
Nope, she was a tough NYC street cat! It was pretty amazing actually. She was in the middle of the street at night in the rain. I saw her from my car, picker her up with no fuss, and took her home. I guess our cats chose us 🙂

I didn’t know you met Tabs as a stray! That’s so sweet. I found my kitty as a stray also! I think strays make the best feline companions 😀 And I love the Givenchy one–Tabs has got a little junk in the trunk, huh? Hahah soooo cute!
Yup! He was about a year old when he first decided to adopt us and still very kitten-ish. I wish I could’ve known him when he was a teeny, tiny baby cat though. 🙂
How long have you had your kitty?
We’ve had my cat for 6 years now! She’s still very tiny, too (although since it’s winter, she’s rocking a pretty chubby belly). My mom found her as a kitten–in a dumpster! And decided she was too sweet to leave behind. It still makes me laugh, picturing my mother feeling so bad for a kitten, that she’d jump into a dumpster–in heels!–and help her out.
Okay, your mom officially rocks! Anybody who saves a kitten from a dumpster (in heels!!) deserves a high five. 🙂
I don’t know which I love most–the Givenchy one for the colors and giant tangerine, or the Smashbox one (because it’s ever cat’s paradise). My Pepper cat votes for Smashbox. 🙂

Oh she does. Absolutely. She likes to curl up in them. If I happen to move a box, or (the horror) try to toss one out, she hops in, and looks at me as if to say, “My box. Not your box. MINE.”
