To whoever invented the hot cocoa snowman, thank you from bottom of my heart.❤️ I never knew how weirdly satisfying it is to stick a chocolate snowman into a mug filled with warm milk and watch it disintegrate until now.
The best part of this whole process is when the snowman’s tummy melts and chocolate chips and marshmallows come out of its booty. Trust me, it’s fun.
By the way, I got these guys from Trader Joe’s! If you see them, grab them. They’re super fun. If you find the drink a little too sweet (I did), then just thin it out with a splash of hot water. Works like a charm.
In other holiday news, I’m almost ready to join Team Done With Christmas Shopping. I finished most of my shopping last weekend at Sephora, and shockingly, I actually stuck to my game plan and bought gifts for other people and walked out with absolutely nothing for myself. Not to say I didn’t want to. It would’ve been a totally different story if this champagne colored cream glitter shadow from Hourglass called Ray was in stock.
I saw it, along with a slew of beautiful Hourglass lip and cheek products, in a reel on SpaceNK’s Instagram. The makeup artist, Jacinta Spencer, layers the shadow onto her lids with her fingers, and the result is a perfect mix of glitter and glam.
My heart broke a little when the sales associate told me Ray wasn’t available because I loved the shimmer — the glitter pieces weren’t too big or too small. Maybe I’ll order it online. Or maybe I’ll just put it on my wish list until my next beauty whim strikes, ha ha ha.
I think, for now, just to get the urge to wear glitter out of my system, I’m going to do something similar to Jacinta’s look with glitter in this palette by Nomad Cosmetics. They’re a vegan and cruelty-free brand that makes travel-themed products.
This palette is Venice-Simplon Express, which is a nod to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a private luxury train service that runs from London to Venice.
How about that red shade? WOW! I haven’t worn red eyeshadow in a minute, but I might just for fun to scare my coworkers on my next video call, ha ha ha!
Speaking of video calls, I’ve got a few lined up this morning, so I should go get ready. Are you working today, too? I hope things are mellow for you this week! Talk soon, ok?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I didn’t think I’d read the phrase “chocolate chips and marshmallows come out of its booty,” today 🤣🤣. But I love it. I finally made it to my TJ’s over the weekend and I was so disappointed in the holiday selection. I don’t know if they didn’t get as much in this year or it was gone by now. I did get a few family holiday favs-spinach artichoke dip and turkey meatballs.
If you end up doing a look with that red shadow please post a pic!

I had the same experience at our TJ’s (which is one of the better ones). The manager said a lot of things were held up or not available this year because of the Covid surge. He said they were also having problems replenishing many of the basics. When I go shopping, I always have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C . . .lol
Karen says
See this is why I no longer plan anything, LOL!
Megan says
I thought that may be the case. You’re right about having a backup! Just gotta roll with it these days.

I ended up chickening out with the red and did a glittery look today instead. Most of the people I work with don’t wear eyeshadow! One of the gals does, though, and I love, love, LOVE seeing her rock a full face. Maybe I’ll do red tomorrow… We’ll see how feisty I’m feeling!
So, a lot of our TJ’s holiday stuff seemed to sell out quickly. I bought a bag of peppermint marshmallows and the next week they were gone. I’m glad you were able to get that artichoke dip! SO GOOD!
Megan says
I can’t stop myself if I sit down with a bowl of that dip! Also works great as a pasta sauce.

Oh dear! That poor snowman having a melt down brought tears to my eyes—tears of laughter 😂 I think I’ll stick with my Godiva hot chocolate.
Regarding the eyeshadow not being available, “out of stock” just seems to be the phrase of our times. It’s going to take awhile for shipping, manufacturing, etc. to get back on track. In the meantime, as much as I might covet a particular product, I’ve learned to simply let it go and move on.
Karen says
There was a shocking amount of things out of stock there! I mean, I know that around this time a lot of the holiday kits are gone, but I couldn’t even get a jar of Laneige Lip Mask.

The red is nice in the eye shadow collection.

Poor Snowman!
I am sure it made your daughter happy. 🙂

That snowman looks like it’s made of white chocolate which I’m not a fan of…but I cracked up seeing the marshmallows and chocolate chips coming out from it’s backside. Lol. Too funny!
I like my hot chocolate dark and almost bitter and thick enough to almost stand a spoon up in.
I haven’t paid too much attention to what’s in stock beauty wise. But the state of my local grocery store is driving me batty. One week they’ll have tofu up to your eyeballs, the next week it’s all gone no where to be seen. I couldn’t find rice at all last week. This week they have four kinds of basmati plus many other varieties. I’m pretty good at substituting when I cook but I have to admit having spotty access to what I consider staples is driving me batty.

I saw those snowmen at TJ’s last time I was there but didn’t get one. I’m definitely going back – most likely on my way home from work today!
The Hourglass Ray color is bootiful – putting it on my wish list now.
Happy Holidays!

This snowman truly looks like fun, but isn’t the milk cold by the time it has melted?
Anne says
Oh, and is the cocoa white (because white chocolate) or will it turn dark? I somehow don’t trust white cocoa, it just isn’t the “real thing”.
