Anybody else out there really miss wearing lipstick when they’re out and about? I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, with fall — which usually means the return of dark, vampy lips — just around the corner. Sometimes I still wear lipstick ? around the house…and sometime I’ll rock a thin layer of liquid matte lipstick underneath my mask (which seems to transfer the least).

Not, although I have done the whole overdrawn lip liner thing before; it’s just one of those phases you need to work through, LOL!

YARGH. This is hard. I guess orangey reds!

Matte or cream finish? Cream for sure. I’ve never seen a matte lip (except for all those photoshopped pictures in ads and on Instagram) that didn’t look dry and wrinkled–even on young women. Unless our lips are packed with filler, we all have lip lines to one degree or another and matte exacerbates the look of them. End of mini-rant! LOL
Coral or rose? My natural lip color is a medium mauve-leaning rose so I’m all about MLBB shades or shades a bit darker that are rose.
Sheer or pigmented? I prefer sheer. They’re more forgiving on my old, dry lips.
Blended or unblended lip liner? Blended. I remember “ring around the lips” from the 60’s and 90’s so been there, seen that, done that.
Overdrawn or not? Not.
Orangey reds or bluish reds? Bluish reds.
Brown or pastel? I don’t really like either one but, since all my lipsticks are on the sheer side, I’ll say pastel because my natural lip color will show through and darken the shade a bit. Being an older woman, shades that are too pale wash me out.
Lip brush or straight from the tube? It depends on the color and pigmentation. The deeper or more opaque the lipstick, the more likely I am to use a brush.

I’m sad about lipstick! I have so many and I hope to be able to use them one day again! I thought about ordering MAC Diva, a deep vampy red that I got a sample of, but then I thought, what’s the point?! I don’t go anywhere and when I do I am wearing a darn mask!

Yes, I love lipstick and I miss wearing it out so much! I comfort myself by wearing tinted lip balm at home, though. The new-ish one from Shiseido is pretty good and of course I’m going to have to try the one from Selena Gomez that dropped today.

I look forward to Zoom sessions now because it’s the only time I’ll get to wear lipstick! I have all this pandemic Lip Glass that I no longer want, however, and it’s not bringing me joy. I hate to throw it away. Maybe I could just gloss my lids!

I miss wearing lipstick out of the house. Sometimes lipstick was the only makeup I wore. I’m going through my lipsticks and wearing a different color every day, until I wear them all. Some are old and are getting tossed. Some of the “meh” colors and/or formulations are getting tossed too. I mean, how many red lipsticks do I really need? Trying to find the best of each color and sticking with those.
I think one needs ALL THE REDS. lol Or maybe that’s just the hoarder in me?

Cream. Matte just doesn’t work and veers into lined and creased territory too easily on me.
Coral or rose?
Coral. My whole face is pink-toned, so rosey lipstick tends to look like a neutral on me but is not all that flattering. It blends in for a monochromatic look, but rarely in a good way!
Sheer or pigmented?
Both! More sheer these days. Bur I love a bold pigment. And I love to build and layer various colors to get a multi-faceted, rich pigment.
Blended or unblended lip liner?
Blended, for sure. Sometimes I lean slightly unblended or chromatic, but not often. It’s a very particular look I rarely have occasion to prefer.
Overdrawn or not?
Very, very rarely. It’s hard for me to control the outcome, I’ve already got pretty full lips, and I feel it looks kind of sloppy and artificial on me. I’m sure others make use of this technique beautifully!
Orangey reds or bluish reds?
Bluish reds, for sure!!! No contest. Orange looks awful with my skin tone!
Brown or pastel?
Pastel pink. Or brick-red brown.
Lip brush or straight from the tube?
Tube. Though I like the concept of a brush, I rarely have the patience! And I tend to reapply every few hours, which means I’d have to tote around a lip brush and clean it between uses….too much hassle for not enough payoff!
I definitely miss lipstick. I have a lifetime supply, but often treated myself to a new lippie. Even if I didn’t have much other makeup on, I always put lipstick on before going into a store or somewhere. Now I only put some on before a Zoom meeting, but it’s not the same. Seems like forever since I bought a new lippie and I miss it.

I’ll participate just for fun- with the answers I’d have chosen a few years back. I can no longer just pick up any lipstick anymore (some strange allergy to beeswax which seems to be in every lip formula ever). I’m still bitter about it. My lips were my best facial feature and I lost my ability to glam them up. But nowadays with masks… everyone’s in the same boat as me.

Sheer or pigmented? Pigmented. I do technically own a sheer lipstick-Urban Decay 100 Degrees, actually!-but it (luckily!) goes on more semisheer than sheer.
Blended or unblended lip liner? I don’t actually wear lip liner, but blended looks better than not. Unblended can work if the liner and lipstick are in the same color family, though.
