A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

Rise and shine, morning glory! 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful week. No complaints out here. Last night I even spent a little time shopping — online, for things to help me with one of my New Year’s resolutions.

Yup, I’m still on a mission to stop dressing like a 15-year-old skater boy (a hard habit to break, apparently), and I found a couple of pricey possibilities at Anthropologie.

What do ya think of this romper and trench?

Leifsdottir Scattered Wing Romper on the left ($168) and Tulip-Hem Trench on the right ($298)

Cute, yeah? I really love the romper, but I don’t know… Sometimes I wonder if things like rompers have an upper age limit that I might have passed.

I also love the jacket, but I wish it came in a different color. I’d have this one covered in makeup and cat hair in about a hot minute.

OOH! I came across a new designer (well, new to me) on the Nordstrom site that I wanted to ask you about. Are you familiar with Presley Skye? She (he?) has these soft, flowy dresses in colorful, springy prints (can you tell I’m ready for spring?).

Presley Skye Silk Kimono Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress on the left ($138) and Print Crêpe de Chine Dress ($138) on the right

Those dresses look so comfy, and if I’m smiling this much just looking at pictures of ’em, I can only imagine what wearing one would do to me.

Is it spring yet?

No? Well, at least it’s giveaway time. 🙂

Win a $50 gift card from Sephora

  • One (1) Sephora eGift card containing $50 sent to the winner by email (international readers, you may opt to receive $50 sent by PayPal instead).

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all, like, how do you feel about rompers? What’s one piece of makeup you own but never wear? Do you like lipglosses that tingle? Can you do a pushup? What’s your latest drugstore beauty crush? Twinkies or Snowballs? — you get the idea.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:

  • Sephora eGift Certificates can only be redeemed online and are not valid in stores or available for purchase or redemption in Canada. International winners may opt to substitute the Sephora eGift card prize for $50 sent directly to their email address by PayPal instead.

I think rompers are adorable and look best on tall, slender, leggy girls. The only issue I have with them is you basically have to take the whole thing off if you need to use the restroom. They’re too impractical for me and I think I’m getting a little too old for them now. Love them on younger ladies though.

and twinkies ALL the way. i also do not enjoy coconut.

I think rompers are best left to those whose ages number in the single digits. Overalls too. There’s something about an adult in overalls that makes them look like a bizarrely overgrown toddler.

I tried 2 tingling lip glosses today– Buxom’s Big & Healthy and Smashbox’s O-gloss. Buxom’s was better, hands-down! It tingled in a pleasant, subtle way, and worked so well that even though the gloss was in a very pale nude, my lips pinked up nicely beneath it. The O-gloss tingled more powerfully, to the point of discomfort, and didn’t pink me up at all. Bleh.

I’m SO ready for spring, I’m visiting le bf in Chicago and it’s so cold here. it even snowed the other day. I’ve actually gotten sick from the cold here as well, and I hadn’t been for so long! boo.

I’m not much of a romper person (even though the one you pick is adorable), but the other pieces are gorgeous. I particularly love the trench coat). I feel you about the pains (and expense) of dressing like an adult. I went to a university event last night, and I really had to think about my wardrobe choices (it needed to be business casual and relatively grown up).

There is an app called “Drop and Give Me Twenty” where you put your phone under your face and every time your nose taps the screen, it fills up a little progress bar. Hi Karen-

Heading for Marvin’s this weekend? Do try the pancakes for a change! They are sooooo YUM. And if you are feeling really sinful, add a side of bacon or sausage. As I recall the bacon there is great. Alas, I have not been there in years. Closest thing I can make to their pancakes (and the all time BEST pancakes in the world–Sinton’s Hollywood) is the Fiber One Buttermilk pancake mix. Really yummy.

If you do get bacon, bring home a bite for Tabs! Better yet, bring him along and let him sign pawtographs. Aalert the press, and who knows, he might make front page in the Advance or IJ!

I think the print and top of the romper are mature and stylish, and makes the out fit really trendsetting and edgy. The dresses are to die for, so beachy. I also just picked up some of cook/shop mac collection yesterday and i’m excited to try them out (3 lip sticks, 1 fluild line and 1 blush).

Rompers? Nah – I’m a jeans-and-t-shirt (long sleeved or short sleeved, boat-necked or crew-necked or scoop-necked, striped or spotted or plain – any kind of t, really!) kind of girl. And I may be 42 years old, but I still wear my sneakers with them. When I go to work, on the other hand, now that’s when I get all dressed up in a suit or nice pants and lovely but professional-looking top.

How do you feel about rompers?
If you’re no longer in elementary school, they look ridiculous.

What’s one piece of makeup you own but never wear?
    Eyeliner.

Do you like lipglosses that tingle?
    Nope, so uncomfortable!

    Can you do a pushup?
    No… 🙁

What’s your latest drugstore beauty crush?
The new Yes To Carrots color balms. They must be mine!

    Twinkies or Snowballs?
Snowballs, definitely. Chocolate always wins over vanilla. 🙂

First, let me say that my kitty has just decided that her give-me-love-right-now! lap session is to take place immediately, no exceptions, and so I am having a bit of a struggle with the keyboard, and I do apologize for any typos or the possible mid-sentence departure (kitty will only stand for so much of this computer nonsense before she redirects my attention to the task at hand, that is, the area below her chin needs to be scratched). Rompers are lovely but I don’t know if I could pull that one off, something about the cut makes it seem a bit heavy for a romper, but then again, it’s a nice intermediary romper for the spring, with the lighter and less structured versions are great for summer.

What I really wanted to comment on is something that has me very upset.. I cannot find these two items anywhere in my city: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadows , and Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencils. I could go on and on about how I have spent hours and hours scrutinizing the drugstore cosmetic aisles for brow products, and at this point, I am pretty sure I’ve tried them all. And I still havent found one I actually like! I found one once, but all the stores in my area stopped carrying it a month later… and as promising as Maybelline’s define=a=brow seemed, the darn thing only lasted me one day because it was so stiff that it kept snapping off! Well, kitty is pawing at my face, time to wrap it up. Has anyone else had trouble locating these new items? Is there any use in hoping maybe they will arrive on the store shelves in Prescott, AZ a little past the initial product launch dates??

Thanks for this chance to win , well second chance actually, except I don’t know how to re-tweet so I have my fingers crossed for that one!

    Hi Karen!

On the topic of lip glosses that tingle – I used to really be into Bath and Body Work’s lip glosses since they all have awesome flavors and a minty taste/tingle. But for the past few years I’ve grown to realize having so many sheer lip glosses is pointless and I now try to buy lip glosses that are highly pigmented, regardless of the flavor or if they tingle. Love your blog!

As for makeup I never wear, bronzer. I have light skin, and I just don’t like how I look with a tan at all. It makes me look weird. I like showing off the lightness in my skin by using pink blushes and red lip colors. I hate the weather in winter, but it really works to show off my skin. =D

I’m always on the fence about the clarisonic and too scared to take the plunge.
Makeup…on the other hand….I have no problem dropping $100 for.

I don’t understand how my brain works.

I like rompers but I don’t think many people can pull them off. I know I can’t. Oh well. Those dresses look cute though!

I own but never wear eyeliner. I just can’t get it to look right on me! Not black, not brown, not plum or olive or gold. It all just makes me eyes look small. Bummer!

What’s one piece of makeup you own but never wear? …um, probably my Wonder Woman Pink Power MSF. I love it so much I don’t want to use it up! That is silly of me though because it is SO huge, lol. 😉
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I have a weird stance on rompers. If it’s cut and designed well, then it looks great and practical, but if it’s slightly off then it can be awfully unflattering!

I can’t do a romper… I don’t think they’re all that flattering unless you able to accessorize it quite well.

Bronzers, bronzers, bronzers. I buy them but almost never wear them, probably because they’re all waay too glittery for me! I want something to slightly contour and cover up my terrible tan lines and that’s all.

Personally, I don’t like the look of rompers. Then again, I only wear jeans and t-shirts.

Not particularly keen on rompers… They look okay on some people. I wouldn’t get one for myself, though.
