It’s still early here (just before 7), but it looks like it’s going to be a nice day. In a little while El Hub and I are driving down to the city to meet my brother and his girlfriend for birthday brunch (today is officially, officially my 
bday), which I’m hoping involves banana pancakes, mimosas and gut-busting laughter.
Yup, my brother — he’s six years younger than me — is one of only a few people in my life capable of making me simultaneously angry and happy.
LOL! I think that’s something they teach in sibling school…

Well since my birthday is this upcoming Friday, I think fave birthday cake makes for a fitting comment. Tres Leches(3 milks) is my favorite cake. It’s a very moist delicious treat. I remember the first time I ever enjoyed some in the summer of 2000. It instantly became a favorite. Some Tres Leches even have a mocha flavor to them, and it just makes it that much better.

I don’t really celebrate my birthday (no presents) but the one thing that I have to have on my birthday is an ice cream cake from Carvel. Not like it’s a fantastic cake or anything but I got one as a kid and it’s become an annual tradition. It has to be vanilla and chocolate ice cream with LOTS of crunchies (the chocolate wafer cookie bits) in between the layers of ice cream. That’s all I ever need or want on my bday.

Happy birthday Karen! I haven’t spent my last three birthdays at home (all have been during business trips overseas) but this last birthday I spent the evening drinking champagne with a coworker at a local Four Seasons. While there was no cake, it was a fabulous way to spend an evening. Next year, though, I’m putting my foot down: I WILL have my birthday at home and I WILL celebrate it! I’m thinking karaoke. 🙂
There’s not many cakes that I don’t like but I am a fan of a traditional vanilla or chocolate with chocolate icing. Can’t beat the classics!

I do love a chocolate cake tho. My mum makes a cake called a kingly orange cake. Its a square of chocolate cake,with marmalde spread around the edges then chocolate over the top and then marizipan covering the whole of the cake. Its lovely when you bit into it as the choclate has set. We celebrated my cats 2nd birthday on the ist of june. Its just a guess as when i got him the lady wasnt sure what day he was born. Poor thing was in a fight a few days ago and has been wounded.

I like to go out and do fun stuff on my birthday. Hey, it’s my personal holiday! This year I drove down to the LA arboretum/Huntington Gardens, had dim sum for lunch, then hit Ikea and Krispy Kreme in Burbank on the way home. Last year, I spent the day in the car heading out to Laughlin for a few days. That night I had a fantastic steakl dinner and the next day went out to Oatman to feed the donkeys. You get the idea. 🙂
I love Carvel ice cream cakes with the chocolate crunchies in the middle.

Happy Birthday! I’m not a huge fan of cake. What I like on my birthday is a hot brownie sundae! You take a hot brownie, place a scoop of softened vanilla ice cream on top, a little whip cream, cherry and nuts. Mmmm hmmm dats what I’m talkin bout!

I’ve got an older brother and a younger brother. I’m the only girl in the middle. It worked out really well because none of us really fought with each other. On road trips I’d always sit in the middle to prevent any fighting between my brothers. All in all we get along really well. For every birthday we get DQ’s ice cream cake. For about 10 years my husband would buy me this fabulous Black Forest Torte for my birthday cake. It was chocolate cake layers with a cherry filling, a creamy filling and chocolate filling layers. Chocolate frosting with black and white chocolate curls and chocolate jimmies on top. A true work of art, but alas the bakery closed about 6 months ago so now I don’t know what my cake will be!
I have 4 older sisters and couldn’t imagine life without them!

I actually have five siblings – three brothers, two sisters. I’m the youngest, so you can imagine how exciting that was growing up ^.^ Fortunately the oldest four are much older and had all moved out by the time I was about five, so we never actually had to deal with six children living in the house at the same time.
I love ice cream cake, but it’s hard to find a good one. So many of them are just ice cream in the shape of a cake… I want mine to have cake in it. I feel like that’s just too much to ask, because they are hard to find!

I love ice cream cake- there’s a cake in grocery stores called Vienetta, which is vanilla and chocolate, and it’s so delicious and creamy. It’s really cheap, so whenever I am with my friends we buy one of those cakes and share- it’s my addiction!
