Revisiting my love for Joseph Gordon Levitt as I prepare to watch 500 Days of Summer!
I have totally been swing dancing it must have been in the late 90’s after Swingers came out, Ha ha now that I think about it. But even before then I used to listen to a local NPR channel with my mom on Saturday nights that had a program called The Swing Years Beyond and it was kind of fun and very retro.

Not sure if it’s considered retro or not, but I can’t stop winging out my eyeliner. I first tried it a few months ago and loved the extra ‘width’ it gave to my eyes. Now I wing it out no matter the look…day, night, neutral, dramatic, etc. I’m sure I’m probably breaking some cardinal makeup rule…but I like the way it looks.

I like to do retro makeup for fun every once in awhile with winged liner, bright lips, and a lot of contouring. If I do it too severely, I look like I had a face lift O.o It is alarming but fun to see how a little shading can change everything so drastically.

Just bought Bare Minerals makeup from Sephora this past weekend & I love it!!! My favorite part is the concealer brush. Covers up those red spots beautifully! I could sure use this gift card because I saw about a million other items I would love to have from there 😉

I am a huge fan of Sephora, and thanks to Sephora, I now have a new favorite eyeliner…the Hello Kitty Glittercute Eyeliner in “Grape Soda – (dark lilac with silver micro glitter).
I took the following from my review that I wrote last night after using the liner for the first time…
“I am in my 40’s, have pale skin and brown eyes. The dark lilac is perfect, and I usually look stupid with glitter.
Be warned, this liner goes on a little “wax-like”, and if I needed a darker line, I would have to use a normal liner. But I really liked the end result, as it was subtle…and I pulled of glitter without looking like I was a 42 year old (and not the Demi Moore-type of 42) trying to be 17 again. I only wore it with some black mascara and tinted moisturizer, and I looked great. It may not be dark enough if I wanted to use eye shadow with it (but I find that eye shadow emphasizes my eye wrinkles these days so I rarely use it any more…make the most of your youth, as I find that make-up isn’t as fun as when I was younger).
I am afraid that I will be purchasing a couple of other colors, even though I already have too much make-up (if there is such a thing).
If you are expecting a normal, densely pigmented eyeliner, this may not be what you are looking for. However, I wasn’t looking for this kind of product, and I fell in love with it immediately.”
Seriously, I am wearing it right now, and it looks great in daylight, too.
Thank you, Sephora, for all the great promotions and great brands. It’s hard to work out what works when you are no longer 17…or 20…or even 30. I wish I had more fun with makeup when I was younger, as I never thought about my eyelids getting wrinkly and crêpey.

I just tried out two new colors in the e.l.f. neutral eye encyclopedia palette (second time using it) and paired with Lancome’s Color Design in Visionary (beige sheen) I looked fantastic in under five minutes! Nothing makes my day better than good application of makeup (that doesn’t make me *feel* made up) boosting my self-esteem.

Spring break while I was home in Seattle actually started to get warm and sunny towards the end, but now I’m back at school in Los Angeles and it is raining like CRAZY! oh, the irony….
Ahh! Made it by the hair on my chinny chin chin (which a good pair of tweezers can fix any sunny day). I love the movie The Harvey Girls. It isn’t a black and white movie but it’s pretty old lol. Old Hollywood glam is awesome and this movie makes me wish I had lived back then 🙂
