A Makeup and Beauty Blog giveaway
Win a $50 eGift card from Sephora

Greetings, gorgeous, and splendiferous salutations! Happy, happy Saturday. 🙂 In case you were wondering, no, you have not just entered Oz; however, you are about to enter this weekend’s $50 Sephora eGift card giveaway (I hope!).

Nothing new to report from out here in partly cloudy Novato, California. Been watching lots of the Olympics lately with Tabs and El Hub. The other night during one of the swimming events, it occurred to me that I jog just a wee bit faster than those swimmers swim, LOL!

Today, I’m driving down to visit my friend Jen and her little boy (My “nephew.” I’m the cool aunt.) in San Jose, which is about 70 miles from here. I’m taking Jen to the MAC counter because she wants to learn more about eye makeup.

Tabs will be holding down the fort here at MBB headquarters while I’m gone.

Oh — he has a message for you. “Meow,” which loosely translates, “Good luck in the giveaway, and have a great day.”

What folks are saying…

“Hi Karen. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I won! :O Thank you so much! You, Tabs, and your blog are amazing! Thank you for keeping me updated on all things beauty and more importantly, for keeping me entertained! Keep doing your thing! Thank you again.”
-Jacqueline

“Thanks so much, Karen. Just in case you were wondering what I got with it, I decided to go with the Clarisonic Mia–I’ve been wanting it for years now, but have never purchased it because of the price. Your eCard helped me finally buy it! I look forward to using it. Thanks again!”
-Jane

“Shut the front door! OMG Karen, you have made my day. 🙂 I’m sick in bed with the flu and this has just cheered me up immensely!!!!!!!! BTW, I’m the one that sent you that pic of my pug in a wig a few weeks back LOL! Thanks again, honestly, I’m beyond giddy right now.”
-Angel

“Oh my goodness! Thank you so much Karen (and Tabs, of course)! I really appreciate this! I’d been eyeing the Anastasia brow pencil in Strawburn to match my red hair!”
-Chelsea (and Jiji the kitten and Quincy the bunny)

“Never before have I been so pleased to check my email right before bed!!! Thank you so, so much! I truly enjoy your blog and check it almost daily! Thanks again! This made my night!”
-Melissa, Edmond, OK

“Hi Karen. Thank you so much, I’m so excited, I’ve never won anything before. My name is Hana … I just turned 25 (today is my birthday!) Yay! Thank you.”
-Hana

What’s the shortest you’ve ever cut your hair?

Six years ago I had a buzzcut.

    Hi Karen!

My last visit to a MAC counter was back in April when I bought Ravishing lipstick; such a beautiful color!

My favorite subjects in school were any and all science courses. I loved biology and chemistry most

As for the shortest I’ve ever cut my hair… Boy short. I loved it. I’ll eventually go back to it but right now I like playing with my long hair.

I hope you can find some amazing MAC stuff for Jen! Not that it’ll be difficult for you. 🙂 have a great weekend!

Another great giveaway and as I always I will answer ALL your questions 🙂

What are you doing this weekend? I worked this morning, and then visited my mother-in-law.

When was the last time you visited a MAC counter? Hmmm mid June?

What should be an Olympic event but isn’t? Errrrrr, estafette with make-up brushes? 🙂

Do you have any artistic hobbies? Make-up? Writing about make-up? 🙂

What is/was your favorite class in school? It depended on the teacher, really. I always liked English. And Dutch.

What’s the shortest you’ve ever cut your hair? A short to mid length bob. And I regretted it a lot!

I scrambled in there with my MAC Pro Card and everything to get my hands on the highlighting powder in Crew. And to my dismay, it was sold out. Hi Karen and Tabs!!!

This weekend I plan to go to Port Huron beach in Michigan for some fun in the sun, as well as watching the Olympics non stop with my cat checkers.

The last time I visited a MAC counter was about a week ago, I got on of the last bronzers in the Hey Sailor collection, which was mostly sold out, and I love it.

I play with my make up a lot on the side, would that be an artistic hobby? I think so.

The shortest I’ve ever cut my hair was chin length, in the 8th grade. It was a big mistake for my face shape and took what seemed like forever to grow back. Never again I’ve learned by lesson, LOL.

My stylist was like “Well I can’t put it back now!” I went to my mom for sympathy and she said “Maybe you shouldn’t do this again…” Ugh. I realized that it wasn’t the end of the world though. It’s a little overwhelming-even though I’m addicted to makeup & makeup blogs, just never got the hang of foundation. So I had to order it online. But I just went to a Sephora last night, does that count? I wish there one closer to my house though 🙁

Hi Karen. The shortest I’ve cut my hair was a pixie cut, and I cut it like that a few months ago. I’m debating if I should keep it short or grow it out. I like it short during the summer. I really enjoy changing my hair style regularly.

the last time I was at a MAC counter was a Pro store in Chicago when the Chenman (and Marcel Wanders 2?) collections were out. I’ve bought some MAC products since then, but haven’t been to a physical counter since! really loved the Chenman collection, I think it’s the one MAC release where I have most of the products from the collection.

i use to work at macy’s so the last time i visited was about 5 years ago, i bought my friends and myself shadows with my macy’s discount. it was probably our first higher end, non-drugstore make-up. well besides bare essentials foundation. I haven’t visited since because I have too much make up already. I’m more focused on skin care now and less make up. I wish Sephora had a salon like Ulta. then i can shop and get a cut too.

Hi Karen, my first trip to the MAC counter was when I was around 19 and bought my first “high end” foundation, concealer, and compact. I had a drag queen friend who had the most flawless beautiful skin and SWORE by MAC and told me exactly what to buy. I’ve moved away from their foundations and powders but am still religiously devoted to their concealers and shadows. Blessings to all!

I used to be a Mac finatic for year and years, but find myself loving Dior and YSL and Tarte right now. Bought Dior Nude Glow powder (in Amber) today and I’m in complete love. Never used to wear powder but this one is a game changer. Going to check to see if you have reviewed this yet. Thanks again!

The shortest I ever cut my hair was a hideous pixie type thing. And it WASN’T what I went in for. i asked for a bob, but she said she started cutting and felt INSPIRED halfway through that I would look better in a pixie. It was HIDEOUS. I held in the tears until the salon door shut & then started sobbing so hard I couldn’t even drive home. (I borrowed my mom’s wigs for almost a month until it had grown out a little) Ahhhhhhh memories. 🙂

I don’t go to a MAC store in my country which is Belgium because in my opinion it’s too expensive. I’d rather splurge when I’m in the US.
I would rather pay a ticket to fly to the US and spend the rest of my money on makeup then buy 1 product here that I think is not fairly priced because of the $/€ conversion and Belgian taxes (which are 21%)… 😉

Shortest I’ve ever cut my hair was a pixie cut. I loved it! I have long hair now, which I do love, but sometimes I wish I had short hair again.. not ready to make the plunge again yet though 😉

And when the lady was fi finished cutting my hair it felt so light and I just kept playing with it I was just so happy but that was like 2 years ago lol

Would you believe my first trip to the MAC counter was this weekend? I decided it was finally time to buy an eye shadow brush, already, instead of using the tiny little foam things that may or may not come with the shadow. The 239 is now mine, and I loooove it.

For him we ordered kids combo but my son refused to eat anything , saying … “i dont like food here , mamma cooks the BESTTT” and me and hubby laughed hard , how easy it is for kids to fool us na ?? by this he was easily escaped and made us happy too with his one liners .

Must…..Resist…..MAC! Every time I go near that counter it’s always “to look.” Next thing I know my pocket book is $50 lighter and I have a bag full of goodies! It’s like shopping amnesia! You walk out in a daze like “Wait, what just happened? Oh MAC.”

I haven’t been to a MAC counter in a month. Prior to that, at least 3+ months. I live at least 1.5 hours away and I hate going to Louisiana locations because the girls are usually rude. Jackson, MS ladies are always awesome. I actually back 2 mac and got Snob 🙂

But hey, I have a cremesheen and longwear creme lippie arriving tomorrow. Online shopping is my favorite!

Had a relaxing weekend by visiting my parents who had home backed scones for tea. Then I went to the French film festival and saw a wonderful movie called Chicken with Plums. It was so sad it made my 15 year old son and myself cry. After the movie we then had fantastic fish and chips at a very good restaurant .To top this off I did some shopping at the supermarket and bought yummy strawberries.

The last time I visited a MAC counter, I was impressed by the woman’s ability to understand my color-babble. “Hello, I’m looking for a matte red lipstick. I want it to be darker red, not really bright pin-up red, but not burgundy that has too much purple in it. Understand?” She immediately went for Viva Glam 1 and it’s AWESOME.
