Hi there! Nice to see you this morning. Tabs and I (and these three bears) are out here freezing our tails off today. It dropped down into the upper 20s last night, and it’s barely above freezing right now. Late last night I covered our one citrus tree with a big bed sheet to hopefully keep it a little warmer.
Not much new to report. I’m having some toast for breakfast, and then I’m gonna hop on the treadmill for a spell. After that, who knows? The sky’s the limit! 🙂

My favorite favorite brand ever. They have wonderful shades and a really long wear time. I love just browsing Sephora. They have so many things that you can just walk around for like an hour playing 🙂
I really love your blog, Karen – I always check here first before I buy any beauty product I’m considering. I love the old standby beauty stops like Sephora, but I’ve found that Target is great for cheap finds! Although honestly, the place I shop most often for beauty products is in magazines!

i love sally hansen nail polish. the color selection is great and the formulas always work for me. The only Top coat I use though is called “Out the Door” and I get it at Harmon beauty.

I think nail art can be very technically impressive, but I just can’t see myself actually wearing the more complex designs in my daily life. The craziest I’d go would be, like, different colored tips or a chevron or stripe. No tiny portraits of The Avengers for me!

I work as a therapist in a nursing home and a lot of the administrative employees bring their dogs to work – even some of the nurses. I am a huge animal lover, but I think it’s kind of weird. One nurse even rigged up a blanket to put around her neck so her mini Chihuahua can snuggle in it.

I’ve been doing pretty good working out so far this year. I’ve been doing about 5 days a week. I’m planning to keep that up until I reach my goal. Lets hope work (that I have to do at home) doesn’t get in the way.
Nail art is good as long as it’s just a design or pattern and not like a painting, then it’s a bit impractical and doesn’t look good unless seen close up.
I quite like Essie, but I must say, recently my favorite nail polish brand is Sally Hansen, especially their Complete Salon Manicure. I’ve been wearing my nails in 404 Greige Gardens for over two weeks now and only the tips of my nails are showing wear. But chipping? None so far! I type on a keyboard all day and wash my hands at least ten times while I’m at work, and so far, I’m quite amazed! My co-workers even thought I went to a nail salon to do them. Maybe it’s my Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Top Coat that’s taking all the brunt, but I’m impressed so far!
It was 28 degrees in Oregon this morning when we took a walk with our Golden Retriever Robbie. It got up to 32 degrees….heat wave!

My favorite fairy tale as a kid was “The Twelve Dancing Princesses”. However, since I’m ethnically German, I was read a lot of German fairy tales. It’s pretty much a rule that they’re all frightening. I was read Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales and “Max und Moritz”, but the worst book by far was “Der Struwwelpeter”. I still scream when I see that book.

My favourite brand of polish is Etude, especially their wide variety of glitter polishes. But I’m currently really loving nail stickers- both the decorative ones you can put on top of polish or the full nail sets. My students really enjoy looking at them while I grade their activity books. Looking at 3D nail art makes my fingers feel really uncomfortable, though! It looks heavy and awkward.

I just finished watching QVC and spent way more than I thought I would on Mally beauty. Cross your fingers that I chose the right foundation color! That is always distressing when you shop online. Which color am I? It took lots of comparing and I am still not confident on my choice.

Gotta give it to Sally Hansen. Their Xtreme Wear polishes are great, and they’re really inexpensive! Their quick-dry top coat is also awesome – I like it even better than Seche Vite.

What a great Saturday! I completed my first long run in my half marathon training program. It was freezing but I did it! 50 minutes, 6 miles and no stopping. I might just have to reward myself with the Zella gathered tote you rave about! 🙂
I can do my lipstick without looking in a mirror most of the time, but everything else I need a mirror for. Even something translucent like eyeshadow primer can go completely haywire if I don’t have a mirror!

I have never tried doing my makeup without a mirror because it’s hard enough trying to do a good job with one.
I’ll do a nude eye shadow, thin eyeliner and mascara without a mirror but I’m not any braver than that.
I want a job that would let me bring my pet to work. My ultimate goal is to have a trained therapy dog and work as a victim advocate for a prosecutor’s office. That way, my dog could bring comfort to those testifying on stand. It’s been catching on in cities across the U.S. so there’s hope yet!

While I’m definitely an OPI fanatic, I feel like Sally Hansen has been upping their game and coming out with great colors in awesome formulas with staying power…so I’ve found myself opting to spend the $2-4 per bottle vs $8-9 for OPI.

Batman! (ingenuity over super-powers), Cinderella (and the under-rated fairy godmother), can’t even imagine trying to put on makeup without a mirror, interesting thought…people commuting with their pets 🙂 but have never had such a job.
I’m too lazy to do my nails, plus I have to type a lot. I like Sephora, if only because they let you browse as long as you like, and carry a multitude of brands. The points system and samples are pretty cool as well.
I am on a strict no-buy so that I don’t end up in debt so winning this would be great!

My favorite brand of nail polish is probably Zoya. Essie is a close second but the creamy colors can be a little streaky at times. I’m a fan of nail art on other people. I like to see how creative some people can get but I myself stick with the basic manicure with color.
I’ve never had a job where I could brink my kitties to work with me, with one exception. When I was stationed in Panama, my neighbors found a newborn kitten and brought it to me since I was the resident CCL. Since he had to be fed every couple of hours, the Commanding Officer gave me permission to bring him with me to work, as long as he didn’t come to meetings or distract the troops. He came with me on trips to the Atlantic coast, however, and got to know a lot of fleet sailors. I think he peed on half the Pacific Fleet! One ship whose XO had to wait for his ship for a week hanging out at my office always thereafter had a line in their LOGREQs sending their regards to my cat. He was a character, and I miss him dearly.
Zoya and Essie are my go tos 😀 They’re typically fool proof for me. Dior is also up there.
