Driest parts of my skin? Oy! I don’t even know where to start.
On my face, usually my cheeks, and this is consistent all year ’round, even summer. And then around the middle of winter I start getting dry patches around my mouth and my nostrils, and sometimes they’re so dry that they turn red and flaky. Weirdly, however, this wasn’t always the case. Up until my early 30s, I had straight-up oily skin and dryness was never an issue. Sometimes I’d even skip moisturizer, GASP! Now, though, that is no longer an option. When I don’t use lotion on my face, my skin feels really tight. Sometimes it hurts.
Oh, the woes of a dry-cheeked girl…
On my body, the dryness is pretty much spread all over the place. It’s equal opportunity dryness! — although there are places, like my shins, my feet and especially my hands, that do get noticeably drier in the winter.
I literally never leave the house without a tube of hand cream in my purse.
And I’ve definitely noticed that the dryness depends on the climate and the humidity. When I leave the Bay Area, like when I go to Redding to see my in-laws up north, where it’s inland and there’s much lower humidity, the dryness kicks up several notches. Same thing when I go to Las Vegas or Arizona or other parts of the Southwest.
I think if I lived in those areas I’d have to start bathing in heavy-duty cream moisturizer, LOL!
What about you? How’s your dry skin situation, and what are the driest areas?

I have combination skin that is chronically dehydrated. Dryest spots are cheeks, eyes, smile lines, and lips for the face, and hands, feet, and elbows on the body.
Eucerin Roughness Relief lotion or cream works miracles on my feet and elbows. I’m a big fan of Vaseline for anywhere really dry. I just picked up an Avène cica lip balm too. I’m allergic to topical vitamin E so I have to keep that in mind, it’s so common and beauty products.

My cheeks and around my mouth are the driest so I use an emollient cream there (I currently use ones that are honey /olive oil-based to great success) over either Fresh Kombucha essence or Eminence Birch Water. I break out easily and this combo has NOT caused any acne. On my body, my arms show the flakes the most and I use Bend Soap Company Sweet Orange Goat Milk Lotion with natural lactic acid to exfoliate after bathing. It has really helped. the dryness and eczema I get from that. Chicago winters are tough on the skin.

My cheeks, lips, and hands. I started using SK-II Essence (expensive but seems like it will last a while) and it has really improved my skin tone which isn’t great in the winter.

Dry, dry, dry.
Winter does not help, winds, cold, sitting in heated dry rooms.
Lots of lotion needed for face, arms, legs, basically all over the body to stop from “creaking”.

My hands are sooo dry. All of the extra handwashing and hand sanitizer has been awful on my poor hands. My face is combination leaning more dry (I used to be combination leaning more oily). My eyebrows and around my nose and lips can get really dry. The top of my cheekbones too. I have given up on some of my old favorite foundations. Full coverage foundation or matte foundation is just to much for my skin now.
I am obsessed with trying different face oils. I really liked Tarte’s Maracuja oil…but they changed the formula. I love DHC’s olive oil for night. I just started using Josie Maran’s argan oil and I like it so far. I also bought Peach & Lily Pure Luxe Oil and I’m excited to try it. I feel like the oils are great for hydration and make my makeup go on smoother.

As I’ve gotten older (I’m 63), my skin has become more normal and not as dry as it used to be. However, I do still get some dry patches, especially on my elbows and I have to use a stronger moisturizer in the winter when the air is drier, especially since we have a wood stove.

My face still isn’t very dry, but I get dryness on my neck and chest and of course on shins, elbows and back of my arms.
