What Takes Up the Biggest Part of Your Beauty Budget?

April 19th, 2024 by Karen 8 Comments

Oh my goodness, seeing how we have two gals with long hair in our household, it’s definitely hair products. We go through a lot of conditioner! Skin care is a close second; I’m forever buying sunscreen, lotion and body wash.

I wish I could say that I spent more on fun things like perfume and expensive lipstick! Maybe that’ll be my next beauty budget phase in life? 🙂

How about you? What takes up the biggest part of your beauty budget?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy Friday! It’s been a week filled with so much learning on this end. I just found out that there’s a whole genre of videos online where you can watch birds building nests, LOL! Don’t ask me why, but I find this relaxing and fascinating.

I would have to say skincare and haircare as well! Getting hooked on SK-II facial essence hasn’t helped, either, although Costco has it for a good price. I think my cat would like to watch to bird videos too, LOL! Happy Friday!

Definitely skincare. Sunscreen, serums, retinols, moisturizers. I don’t seem to be wearing as much color makeup as I once did, except for lipstick and lip balms.

I’ve watched the bird videos showing a European species called Blue Tit. Some of the birds in the original “Snow White” appear to have been modeled after that species. They are blue, white, and yellow. They have huge broods, and it’s just amazing how quickly they go from hatching to leaving the nest (though the adults do help the fledglings, as most species do, for a while after they leave the nest). Some time back I found a fledgling blue jay in the yard on the ground. It shrieked at me, extending its head and neck toward me, trying to scare me away. I was so startled I jumped back. If you see one of these birds, you can see how they definitely could be related to the dinosaurs. I also found a fledgling Carolina chickadee on the ground once.

That’s incredible! I’ve never had encounters like that with birds in our neighborhoods, unless you count the turkeys gobbling at me.

Birds and other wild creatures are gradually taking over the backyards of suburbia, at least the ones that don’t have dogs in them very often. Also, this is an older neighborhood with a lot of trees and evergreen bushes. Over the years I’ve seen a turtle, a tortoise, a bobcat (!), an opossum, rabbits, cardinals, blue jays, mockingbirds, 2 species of woodpeckers, Carolina chickadees, Carolina wrens, house finches, tufted titmouse, crows, robins, and goldfinches, to name a few. Goldfinches won’t linger past March, though. The neighborhood now has a “coyote warning” sign up. I saw a coyote sauntering down the street in broad daylight about 7 weeks ago.

That’s incredible that you’ve seen all those animals!

We live in coyote country, too, and see them on occasion.

I’m such a bargain shopper that I probably spend about the same amount on all categories, except I rarely buy fragrances. By the way, the price on perfumery now is just insane. I wish people would boycott all perfumes that are more than $60.00 for 3.4 ounces, because they’re just gouging people because they can. If there’s one thing we can live without, it’s perfumery. Boycott and teach these gougers a lesson!

Probably hair products as they are pricey. Then skincare. My cats love “Cat TV” and it’s on all day while I’m gone. When I’m home I like the bird and nature sounds in the background. Soothing.
