What’s Your Current Brow Routine?

July 16th, 2014 by Karen 17 Comments

Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Espresso
Wearing Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Espresso in my fuzzy li’l caterpillars…

Right now I’m not doing much to them. I just brush them through, and fill in the middle and outer tail end with a brow pencil.

That’s it.

No brow gels or concealer along the edges — basically, no frills right now.

That’s compared to the brow routine I was following back in winter and spring, which usually amounted to some combination of eyeshadows, brushes, brow gels and concealer (I’d run the concealer along the edges and blend it in to define the shape).

But you know, since it’s summer, I’ve been paring down… You know how it is.

How about you? Tell me about your brows, babe. What have you been doing with them lately? And out of curiosity, when it comes to your brows, does the season have anything to do with your routine?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Blerg, guess who has a dentist appointment this morning.

No, not Tabs. 🙂 I do.

It’s just a cleaning, but still…I’m not what I’d call “enthused” about it. I told myself that I can swing by the mall when it’s done as a reward for not stabbing anyone. If I just do a quick circuit through Nordstrom, the Kate Spade store and Anthropologie, I’m sure I’ll feel better.

P.P.S. Happy hump day. I hope you’re having a good week so far.

Hey Karen! For a long time now, I’ve been using NARS Brow Perfector in Kalamata. It works really well on my brows and doesn’t make them too dark or dramatic (I have naturally black hair).

As for the dentist…argh, I also have an appointment on Friday to see the dentist. Going to the dentist & gynecologist are my least favorite routine check-ups! Good luck at the dentist!

I recently purchased Too Faced bulletproof brows and I like that it comes with a double ended brush. Otherwise I’m trying to use up my benefit brow kit ( that thing lasts forever!) and I read that Maybelline color tattoo eyeshadow in Tough as Taupe works for brows so one day I’m going to try it!

I get them waxed every 3 weeks or so, and fill in the arch and thin spots using a brush and the Gingerella powder from VanityMark. I stockpiled (like 8 of them) the single pan powders when I learned they were going to dual color pans.

Thread every few weeks, pluck every few days, and fill in with powder daily… Unless I get too lazy. Then because I have such thick, intense brows to begin with I’m usually fine. Filling them in just makes them look more polished. That’s my routine no matter the weather. I’ve been thinking about trying a brow gel though. I’ve heard Anastasia Beverly Hills has a good one, but I’ve also heard there crunchy. I haven’t made that one my never ending quest yet. (My current quest is medium warm browns matte/satin eye-shadow)

Hey, “benefit” does that job for me these days… once a month I try to enter the brow bar and the rest of the time their gimme brow does a pretty good job (my brows are soo hard to handle…)

    Have a nice day!

Right now I’m using a Real Techniques angled brush (from the purple set of eye brushes) and working NARS Bali through the middles and tails. Then I take the leftovers and brush vertically through the inner 1/4. And I have to set with Anastasia Brow Gel in Espresso. Can’t go without it 🙂

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette and done. More importantly, what lipstick and blush are you wearing in this picture?

My favorite is to get my brows sugared at this little organic spa. Ahhh. I went there for a good 10 years or so until my brow specialist left. It’s kind of out of the way so now I go to a different spa. They use wax not sugar but everything is *super* clean. I found out the reason I used to break out from getting my brows waxed because the wax would breed bacteria when it was not changed out on a regular basis (ewww). So the place I go now is working out great! I’m really good about not plucking or anything in between wax appointments (sometimes I go way too long but the technician always appreciates that I was hands-off in between visits).

I’m trying to see if they grow in a bit (I also just bought RapidLash, so I might throw some on the brows and see if it helps), so no plucking unless it’s really out of line. The product I’ve been using is “Smashbox Limitless Waterproof Brow Definer” in Auburn. I’m fairly certain this is discontinued, I picked it up for $11 at Nordstrom Rack, and it’s quite good! It’s slightly orangey (my brows are blonde, my hair is red) but it’s quite natural looking when you sheer it out. I usually top this with a brow gel (Anastasia Beauty Genius, or sometimes the Ulta Rain Coat waterproof lash sealer).

I pluck my brows and fill them in with the matte tan shade from The Balm’s Nude ‘Tude palette or Wet n Wild Vanity then go through them with Jordana Brow Set 🙂

Yay for retail therapy! 😀 Even if it’s just window shopping 🙂 I reward myself similarly after a particularly grueling meeting.

My brow routine is super simple: A small flat eyeshadow brush and a single of Lancome’s matte eyeshadow in Tres Chocolat, a medium deep brown.
Takes me approximately 5 seconds, mostly because I have to have a light hand – with the hair immediately around my face being very light (and usually having it tied back), and with my skin being vampire coloured, brows can get out of hand quickly if I try anything to definite. Soft eyeshadow is a winner!

Mine have faded to blonde and become less full as I’ve gotten older. I like a dark full brow, so about once a month i dye my brows a darker shade of brown. Daily I pluck any strays, fill using an angle brush with a shade like NYX bare my soul, then set with benefit gimme brow, in dark shade.

My brow routine right now is basically nothing day-to-day, and then for going out at night or anything semi-special, laying down a little wax to hold shape and then filling with Benefit’s Gimme Brow for some color and thickening.

I am such a weirdo because I love going to the dentist, when mostly I hear people dread it! That’s just me though! 🙂

Congrats on making it through Dentist Day – you’re getting much better about that!

My brow routine is always the same; I always fill with a pencil. They are sort of on the sparse side and I have a Raul in my right brow. The pencil du jour is Anastasia’s Brow Wiz. I think it’s OK but I’m not wild over it by any means. I’ve tried MUFE’s Aqua Brow but that takes far more time and skill to look natural than I have!

I’m still hoping my brows will grow out a little more but I try to get them waxed every couple months. I fill them in with my Anastasia brow pomade and brow whiz pencil

On a day-to-day basis I usually just lightly fill in my brows with the Hourglass Arch pencil. If I’m feeling fancy I set it with Benefit’s Gimme Brow.
