What’s on Your Christmas Lemming List?

December 21st, 2011 by Karen 48 Comments

Ho ho ho! Yea! The Great Christmas Lemming just teleported into town, plump with pagan magic and Christmas cheer (or is that a tapeworm?). Santa dispatched him to the blogosphere to find out what everyone wants for Christmas.

The first words out of his mouth were “Eek! Eek-ack! Ack!” which, loosely translated, mean “Tell me the top 5 things on your Christmas list, and I’ll take them back with me to the North Pole.” Please leave your list in the comments. 🙂

He says he’ll take all requests into consideration and encourages you to act now (because Christmas gifts are on a first come, first served basis this year).

My Christmas Lemming List

  1. Le Metier de Beaute All That Glitters Nail Set
  2. MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush
  3. Fossil Vintage Key-Per Coated Canvas Duffle Bag
  4. Sam Edelman Scarlett Pump in Gold Snake
  5. Edward Bess Back to Basics Palette

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Actually, I can’t think of 5 things that I want for Christmas!

So I’ll just mention one: I’ve been drooling over the Orly Mineral FX Collection. It’s tough to find in physical stores in Canada…if you can find it at all. If I don’t get it for Christmas, sometime next year I’ll order it online.

I’d say the Nars eyeshadow primer, Clarisonic mia, Nars danmari all about cheeks palette, Josie Maran argan oil, NYX butt naked palette. But if you were to ask me in 10 minutes, they’d probably all change 🙂

Something that one follows after mindlessly or with great longing and desire. Although the whole lemmings off the cliff thing was de-bunked many years ago as a horrible act of television trickery, the phrase still exists. Hope that helps.

Number one on my Christmas List this year: Makeup Storage.
I have a fairly small collection so far, but it is starting to outgrow my current organization. I would still like to keep my collection confined to a drawer, but I need a better system to find what I want easily and quickly. I think that maybe the Michael Graves for Target Drawer Organizer with 2 Cups is the answer to my calling!

Number two: A New Camera. Lets just say my current digital camera takes worse pictures than my cell phone does and my own blog would certainly benefit from this gift!

Number three: A truly mattifying primer. As a girl with combo normal/oily skin I suffer from oil-slicks on my forehead, nose, and chin, so for once I would like to be able to find a primer that doesn’t cost me an arm and leg while actually working to keep me matte all day and night. Maybe MAC Matte can do the trick for me?

Number four: The Naked 2 Palette. Enough said. 🙂

Number five: The Sonia Kashuk Luxe – Agent Provocateur Train Case. Equal parts functional as it is gorgeous.

    1) I’ll second the request for makeup storage. I’m lusting after a train case at the moment, but we’ll see if Santa has paid attention to my list.

    2) MAC’s crushed berry pigment set

    3) A new trench coat

    4) Bobbi Brown’s anniversary lip set

    5) An uninterrupted night’s sleep so I can start getting rid of my dark undereye circles!

Oh dear Santa, for Christmas I’d like:

    1) MAC 130 or 188, because I am still applying my cremeblend blush with fingers…
    2) Tarte Tipsy or Cargo Rome, because a warm-toned gal could have lots of fun with it in summer
    3) MAC Blacktrack or Bobbi Brown Black Ink, because after hanging in there for more than a year, my Maybelline one is showing signs of drying out (with that said however, more than half of the pot is already gone so I am impressed)
    4) Urban Decay Naked 2, but this is pure greed :p
    5) MAC Sable, because Karen has talked me into believing I need it.

Thank you Santa. I have been a good girl, and I will definitely stay good next year!

    Love,

    Sunny

    5 things:
digital camera – any decent one will do as I have no camera at the moment, but I’d LOVE a nice dslr like I used to have..
gift cards – i’ve love a gift card to some place I like to buy clothes from (express works for this purpose)
makeup primer – i have and love guerlain’s lingerie de peau and it does everything i have ever wanted and needed a foundation to do.. but i want to see if a good primer (i’m thinking koh gen do!) will really help to put my best face forward.
powder brush – to apply my new (!) chanel poudre universelle libre loose powder. i’ve been looking and looking for the perfect one – big, fluffy and luxurious – and haven’t found one i’m excited about. i was thinking of settling with mac’s
and 5th – to be a stay at home mom! work is wearing me out!

It was intense! I was there for over three hours and they did an interview and lots of skill testing. They are trying to fill several different types of positions, and they want to find out where people might best fit. I did really well on some tests, not so well on others. They said they’ll be letting people know at the end of the week if they’ve got the job or not.

I’m still exhausted today after all of that!

    2. As far as makeup is concerned I’d love: 2a. Urban Decay Naked Palette 2. I need it like I need a hole in the head hahaha but I need it. lol 2b. Meet Matte by The Balm. 2c. a back up of my foundation (Loreal Infalliable. <3!!) and 2d. Tarte's Exposed blush. (Im so bad, I know you only said 5…)
    3. Some new jeans, I'm losing weight (woo!!) and sneakers
    4. A nice winter time activity to do with my daughter. Something that burns the energy and something she will enjoy a great deal. 🙂

    Dear Great Crimmus Lemming,

    1. I’d like my bumper and windshield fixed on my car. My poor baby has taken a beating the past few months!

    2. I’ll either take an iPad or a Galaxy Tab please! I’d prefer to not lug my laptop to work sometimes and I’m not a fan of how our work PC is set up.

    3. I’d like to find a face primer without silicone! If that even exists… My skin’s cleared up considerably by skipping out on silicones but then that means more touch ups.

    4. I’d like my Hulu and Netflix subscriptions to be paid up for the next year!

    5. I’d like to have a better relationship with my sister.

I’ll probably end up buying most/all of these things for myself after the holidays since the people around me seem to hate the idea of gifting me with beauty-related products 😛

For people wanting the MAC 130, an alternative could be the Real Techniques (by Samantha Chapman) Stippling Brush. I haven’t used it for foundation, but I do like it for applying and blending out cream blushes and super pigmented powder blushes (like Illamasqua’s). I’ve had it for several months and it hasn’t shed nor does it smell weird. Plus it’s $9.99 at Ulta!

Santa will unfortunately not be dropping in this year (he never does, I think he does not like our cookies 😉 but somehow that never seems to stop the lemmings from going bonkers anyway… :p As far as make-up goes, my current top 5 lemmings would be the Bobbi Brown Gold & Chocolate palette, UD Naked 2, TheBalm Nude’Tude, Tarte for True Blood palette, and the Tarte Amazonian clay blush in blissful 🙂 And let’s not forget the new Sigma 18k Gold Complete Kit! I really don’t even care too much for the whole gold bit, but what a sweet set of brushes, and I love the case! Well you know, the sky is the limit as far as lemmings go… 😉
But putting lemmings aside, I’m on a strict no-buy diet for a good couple of minds, until I can hopefully break the fast with a nice matte Inglott Freedom palette. But to be fair, it has not been too bad to just really work out my own stash, some half-forgotten treasures are really feeling the love now!
