Which Makeup and/or Beauty Products Will You Be Heartbroken to Finish?

March 9th, 2012 by Karen 35 Comments

mac naked honey hand and body cream

Eureka!

I thought my tube of MAC Naked Honey Hand and Body Cream (from 2009’s Naked Honey collection) had finally given up the ghost, aka “gone on to greener pastures,” but it looks like there are at least a few precious drops left inside.

I just love this stuff… 🙂

Love how super moisturizing it is, love the honeysuckle and freesia scent it leaves on my skin, love the pattern on the tube.

MAC’s Creations Hue fragrance in Naked Honey, also from the Naked Honey release, has almost the same scent, so I’ll be able to get my fix for it there, but I don’t find the fragrance anywhere near as satisfying as the cream.

To make my tube last as long as possible, I started rationing it when the tube got down near empty, allowing myself a few drops for my hands on Friday afternoons if/when I finished everything on my to-do list. At the rate I’m going, with what I think hope is still left in the tube, I might be able to stretch it out till June (fingers crossed!).

How about you and your collection? Which makeup and/or beauty products will you be heartbroken to finish?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I will be so sad when I finally finish Chanel Hydrabase lipstick in Coco Pink. I’ve been wearing it since I was 16! Ten years later, I’m down to half a tube left, and the only way to get another is to pay $100 on eBay! (Literally, one hundred clams for a tube of discontinued Chanel goodness. I wasn’t the only one who loved it!) You know those products that make you feel really good and happy when you wear them, the ones that give you a little extra sparkle just because they’ve become so personal to you? Coco Pink was it! I’ve tried lots of other blue-based, bright orchidy, lilacy pinks and none comes close.

Have you tried sending a sample to Three Custom Color? Maybe they can duplicate it well enough. Granted, it wouldn’t be the same tube, but the color will be the same!

For sure my John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Spray. I have about 2 uses left and I’m panicking! I know there are other “surf” sprays out there, but nothing will be able to match that heavenly coconut scent!

Yes Marisa! You know I called John Frieda when they discontinued Ocean Waves and they said it was a seasonal product and people didn’t wear their hair wavy all year long. What?? I responded by saying that people certainly did, including myself. And then, of course, right after that lots more people started wearing their hair wavy and tons of products hit the market. None as good! Sigh….I had to throw the rest of mine away years ago b/c the scent had turned. Thanks for reminding me of this…

Mine would also be a John Frieda product – their red Color Glaze! I used to use it to bring out the natural red highlights in my hair. I have one bottle left, and I’m so disappointed that they discontinued it without warning. I have yet to find anything like it!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is amazing for beachy waves. Really, nothing can top it! I used the Frieda before being introduced to B&B! 🙂

Antonia, I know B&B works on a lot of people but unfortunately, it really dried my hair out even used sparingly. Did anything else work for you? I have tried pretty much everything, high-end to low-end.

You can still get it from the Cosmetics Company outlet in US. It’s about 15 bucks I think.

I guess that’ll be my Stay In Place Eyepencil (in Zero, black) from Estee Lauder.
I’m on a tight budget so that’s one pricey pencil for me, but it works so good and stays in place so well 😉

My Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and my Stila Oasis Eyeshadow. (Though I don’t think I’ll be too heartbroken with that shadow since I just bought two more extra! Lol. 🙂 )

MAC beauty powder in Peaceful. My pan has only about an eighth of an inch remaining around the rim and I haven’t found a dupe yet. Last summer it became my go to finishing touch and I am desperate to find something for this summer.

My Coralista! lipgloss from Catrice. The most perfect coral color.. and my Rose Gold blush from Sleek. Sleek is not available right here and it takes a long time to get one.

The old Dior Addict lipstick in Rose Bustier. It was LE with the lace collection in 2010, and there has been no dupe yet… Such a pretty, radiant, soft pink! Sniff.

Karen, if you get the chance you should call the CCO at Gilroy Premium Outlets and see if they have any of the Naked Honey cream. I was just in there a week or so ago and they had tons of Naked Honey stuff still.

I was upset when Bath and Body Works discontinued their Rain Kissed Leaves scent. I wear Country Chic a lot now, but it’s not quite the same.

For those who like the John Frieda Color Glazes, Ulta is now making their own glazes for red, brunette, and blonde hair, as well as a shampoo and conditioner line for red, brunette, and blonde hair. I too used the John Frieda glaze in red, and I was able to make new red hair color last for 4 months with it without significant fading (just root regrowth, and the glaze helped mask that). The Ulta glaze is virtually the same but may take 2 or 3 uses before you will notice a difference. I just bought it last week, and it seems to be a good replacement for John Frieda red glaze. It costs 10 bucks in Ulta stores, and you can find it near the John Frieda stuff. John Frieda’s clear glaze is also still around, and does work well to help preserve color.

I would be upset if some of my fave UD 24/7 pencils were discontinued, like the Bourbon one. Those pencils last all day and there are few that compare!

This company called Blue Q made a body splash called ‘Miso Pretty’. It has a really light, fresh roses and peony scent and I’ve worn it forever. Sadly, company discontinued it and I’m down to my last bottle. Sniff 🙁

Oh no! My favorite cream is “Pacifica” Body Butter. I love the smell and the texture. But I use it every day, so it’s going pretty fast. Also they don’t test on animals, what is very important for me.

Any of the Naked Honey creams/fragrances. I had both fragrances and blew through them so quickly but kept the bottles because they still retain a small whiff of the fragrance. Right now I’ll be sad to finish peaceful patchouli scented body products because they aren’t available in Canada anymore.

    Hi, Karen!

I was at my CCO today and they have the Naked Honey Cream. I normally don’t offer things like this to complete strangers, but if you’d like me to send you one I can, just email me. Then you can savor it a little longer. 🙂 Thanks for all your reviews and posts! 🙂
