“No-makeup” makeup people, take note: This warm pink powder blush will release you from your “blahs” while summoning your cheeks back to life.
I barely wore any makeup last weekend (real talk: I’ve been feeling kinda blah), but I *did* manage to put on some mascara, brow gel and Laura Mercier Rosé today, AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!
Rosé is a warm-toned pink matte powder blush, and I didn’t realize just how much I’ve been neglecting my usual beauty routine lately until I looked in the mirror this morning and saw a mustache worthy of a Disney villain on my upper lip.
A little makeup was definitely in order.
So, yeah, if you want to feel somewhat functional/normal, if only for a moment, wear blush — ideally, one like Rosé, which has that patented “no-makeup makeup®” thing going. It’s colorful without being intense, and matte, and it doesn’t look heavy or harsh.
Are you the type of person who skips foundation? Or do you just wear a touch of tinted moisturizer? If so, this blush is at its best when it’s dusted directly on bare skin or on top of a minimal base.
Hopefully, someday soon we’ll all have places to go with actual real live people in them again, and Laura Mercier Rosé will be ready. It’s available now on the Ulta website for $30.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Good morning Karen, you know I try to keep my routine as normal as possible and I get everyday ready- including minimal makeup. It just makes me feel better and the application of the Make-up feels also relaxing to me. So yes, a BB cream, bronzer, mascara and a bit blush as well as a tinted lip balm it is mainly. I also still do my “Makeup Monday’s” where I use a little more color. It’s my sign of “I’m not giving up! I’m still here!”. Stay in there, hopefully it will get better! Much love! ❤️

Same to you! Take care of yourself, Sissi.

Hi Karen,
First, I’m very grateful for being able to read your blog at a time like this. Refreshing and real.
Second, how is the staying power in the blush?
Thanks much,
Cherie
Karen says
Hi Cherie,
I’ve worn it on bare skin and on foundation, and it has more staying power if you give it a base something to stick to. On bare skin, between four and five hours. On a base, 6-7. My skin is combo dry/oily. 🙂 Let me know if you have any additional questions!

My work does video calls so I’m still doing makeup most days. Even trying fun lip colors to keep things interesting! My typical routine is the CC cream I’ve been using (Supergoop), concealer where needed (Nars Soft Matte), brows (Anastasia gel in Caramel), liner (varies), mascara, and blush (cream or gel).
Karen says
YES! I’m all for this, especially the fun lip colors. Please tell me you’ve done green or blue.

That is such a beautiful color! I’ve been wanting to try the LM blushes. I’ve heard good things about them.
I’ve only been wearing sunscreen, tinted moisturizer or super light coverage foundation lately. I haven’t even bothered doing my brows or wearing mascara.
Karen says
Good for you for wearing sunscreen! I have unfortunately fallen back into lazy skin care mode. The most I do is moisturizer. HAAAALP

Girl, yes, it is time to break out the Bliss wax and tweezers!! My eyebrows and chin are in a shocking condition.
One of my favorite authors (Kristin Hannah) started a FB post today with “So it’s already day whatever of social distancing. I have officially lost all track of time.” Amen, sister.
Karen says
Got my Bliss wax on my desk! You could mow a law on my upper lip. HAHAHAHA
Oh, and P.S., I thought it was Wednesday for the first half of the morning. 🙂

Monday and Tuesday, I got up at regular time (5:30), showered and got ready as usual. Just in case I had to run into work for something. But today I’m in bare faced, ponytail mode. I am planning to do two 10-minute yoga sessions (one mid-morning, one mid-afternoon) to see if that helps the neck/shoulder situation. I didn’t want to fuss with washing my face and putting my hair up before that so figured I’d just do it first thing.
I know it rots but am trying to get up from my “desk” occasionally to sweep the floor or throw in laundry. That makes me feel a bit better about working from home. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon. 🙂
