Butterflies, Blooms and MAC Vera Collection Pics and Swatches

February 8th, 2012 by Karen 45 Comments

Just a few NC 42 swatches and pics of the new limited edition MAC Vera collection, which comes in for a landing on MAC counters, in stores and online in North America February 16 (and internationally next month).

“Brilliant butterflies, flashy florals and gorgeously geometric graphics… A colourful collaboration between MAC and the artist known worldwide as Vera, who merged fine arts with linens, murals, textiles and silk scarves in her punchy, painted patterns. Now in shades plucked straight from her most lavish prints, MAC Vera embraces the luxe, lighter-than-air spirit that delivers the kind of startling, look-at-me-statement that defines what it means to be an instant classic.”

— MAC Cosmetics

Let me know what you think. Does it brings out your inner butterfly (or your inner grouch)?

Butterfly Party looks sooo pretty! I’ve never worked with pigment before though, and I’m a little worried I’d make a mess!

      Hi Sunny,

With the right brush it’s easy. Here’s a tutorial I did a while back that might help:

How are you and the kitties doing today? Good, I hope!

Oh, nice! Both are super silky and should look really pretty on you. You’ll have fun taking pics of them with your macro lens. 🙂

Bummer! I hate those spontaneous skin allergies. I get them from scent lotions sometimes. 🙁 I’ve had to give up a couple of fragrances I love because they just pop up overnight, blah!

What are you getting from the launch?

i ordered some stuff online — there might be a quad or two and a lippie or two from the other collection. 🙂

i know .. i was able to use those stacks w/o any problem and then one day, it just made my lids sore and itchy. more so after taking the pigment off. when i tried it again after a few days – same result. :-/

I took pics and swatches of those too. I’ll have them up in a few.

I’ve heard that some people have similar issues with the MSFs. Maybe you developed and allergy to an ingredient used in both? Kind of sucks, but then again, now you have an excuse to look for more colors similar to the stacks you can no longer use. 😀

It’s easy to do, haha! I find that I get stuck on certain products. Like, for a while there I was all about the Fluidlines and had to have every single color!

I was waiting for your swatches before I ordered these face powders!! (Were about the same complexion) Do you think the face powders are too frosty for our skin tone ? Im leaning towards flower fantasy…Thanks!!

      Hey Wenz,

      WOO HOO, NC42!

You could probably pull both off, but if you get tan over the summer, the pink might start looking a little stark and frosty. I’d go with your gut and get Flower Fantasy. It should easily carry you over into the summer. Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂

Thanks for the quick response Karen! Double woohhoo!

Thats exactly what I was thinking to use for spring into summer to get that “glow”. Well more like now, since FL barely had any winter/ cold snap this year. Im not complaining, but like you said when you had those rainy days, gotta have my sunshine!!!!

It’s been unusually warm here in Nor Cal too!

Whereabouts are you in Florida? I visited a few years ago for my BFF’s wedding and quite enjoyed it. I went to Boca Raton and then drove down to Key West. So fun!

Just south of Boca in Ft. Laudy. I love the keys too, the drive down has such pretty views! It’s an easy getaway, minus the crazy airport security hassle!

Oh, nice. I visited that area once when I was a teenager… I remember being shocked at how warm and salty the water was! Here in Nor Cal it’s cold, murky and not nearly as pleasant. I hope to visit the keys again someday. It was very relaxing, and the drive was surreal!

            Happy Thursday!

I definitely gotta get my hands on Flower Fantasy, just for the special design. Hopefully, I can wear it as a blush on my NC30/35 skin tone. If not, I’ll wear it as a highlight. =)

Blue liner is not very flattering on me, but I love the look of Petrol Blue in the swatch. It’ll look awesome on you! I actually think Industrial would be a really nice pop of color, too. The whole line looks pretty young and fun and it kind of reminds me of My Little Pony meets unicorn glitter. 🙂
