Glittery Unicorn Kisses…and a Look With the New MAC Get Blazed Collection (COMING APRIL 11TH)

The coywolf and I entertain the fanciful notion that every time you find a piece of glitter on your face, your body or really anywhere — and for some reason, this happens often, big surprise! — you were just kissed by a unicorn.

Indeed, if that holds true, then wearing anything glittery from the new MAC Get Blazed collection is tantamount to being kissed by an entire unicorn herd.

SO MUCH GLITTER!

A kiss from a baby unicorn

I wore a couple things from Get Blazed today — the Shiny Pretty Shadow in P for Pink, and the Bling Thing Liquid Lip Top Coat in Sweet Gleams — and I can say that nothing I’ve seen from this collection goes halfway. I tried to going for subtle with P for Pink and Sweet Gleams (mind you, as subtle as you can go with glitter…), so my lids and lips look relatively subdued here, but TRUST! — if you wanna look like you’re going to swing from the chandelier on a Tuesday night, by all means, you can get there, and you can get there so f a s t.

Faster than a speeding unicorn even.

Because there’s *a lot* of shimmer and sparkle in these products, and they don’t hold back.

A few MAC Get Blazed first impressions…

  • Shiny Pretty Shadow — This one has small- and medium-sized flecks of glitter swimming in an intensely pigmented metallic base. It has a creamy texture and is long-lasting, and there’s a little fallout…but not much.
  • Bling Thing Liquid Lip Top Coat — This is like a liquid glitter lipstick “top coat” in a sheer base. The lightweight mousse-y texture dries down and “hugs” your lips. It’ll also last you through a meal and drinks. It’s surprisingly not drying, although I wouldn’t exactly characterize it as moisturizing, either.
  • Dazzle Highlighter — This one is sensationally soft and creamy. The glitter isn’t an overspray, either. It’s a pigmented metallic base with medium and large pieces of glitter. I wouldn’t wear it as a highlighter (way too crazy for me), but it’s fun, though, if you’re going for statement cheekbones.
  • Bling Thing Liquid Lipcolour — Same mousse-y texture and lip-hugging effect as the Lip Top Coats. This one is intensely pigmented and even more intensely metallic. How VERY ’80s in the best way possible.

OMG those shadows!! I love them! The only one I might be able to wear is the taupe. MAC uses carmine in their pinks and reds, which I’m allergic to but if the taupe is sans-carmine, I’m getting one!!!

That’s a lot of shine and glitter! HAHA! I think your lashes look even longer this week. You’re going to have to hoard that serum. 🙂 PS Cutest baby unicorn ever.

FOR SERIOUS. I recently found out my neighbor sells R+F so as long as we live here all I have to do is walk down a few doors to order some, ha ha ha!

I love that bit about having a speck of glitter meaning you’ve been kissed by a unicorn ? I love this look! Would be great for shows for me.

Yes it would! You can also apply them with a wet brush to turn it up even more for showtime!

A sales rep in a MAC store talked me into P for Pink at Christmas time. It was limited edition. I passed on it, did some more shopping then came back for it because I had FOMO. It really is a lovely, blingy shadow that I save for rare date nights. Keep the rest of the face simple and it makes the eyes sparkle. I’m over 40, and I *really* hesitated, but I’m glad I purchased something fun for a change.

      Hi Aly,

Yeah, it’s really gorgeous. I’m gonna take it out often just because. It’s so a beautiful eyeshadow!

She’s growing way too fast. 🙁 I’m having an emo sort of day today and have already cried twice thinking about her as a newborn. Can’t believe one day she’ll be a young woman on your own like your daughter.

Funny story. Connor and I always talk about how she’s going to Mars as an astronaut one day, and last week she asked me if I’d watch her cats for her while she was in space.

Even though my daughter is in her 20s and on her own, I still have emo days about her. I cry every time some guy acts like a jerk towards her. I cry when she doesn’t get asked out.
I love the Mars story! So will you watch her cats while she’s in outer space? I drive up to Dear Daughter’s apartment when she’s away on business trips to feed Nibbler. Although when she went to survival school for two weeks I made her bring the cat to my house.

Yes, I’m tasked with cat-sitting duty while she’s off-world. El Hub has it all mapped out. She’ll be too young for the first wave of astronauts who go to Mars, but she’ll be the right age when the second and third waves go. LOL! So the cats will stay with us when she’s gone.

The way she asked me was super cute, too. She was playing in the living room (her new favorite game is “picnic,” where she cooks an elaborate feast for her stuffed animals), when she asked very earnestly, “Mama, when I’m in space, will you please watch my cats?” ?
