MAC Infatuating Rose Face of the Day: Pink with Indigo Liner

December 9th, 2008 by Karen 41 Comments

OMG! I forgot to mention the minor traumatic incident I had this morning while I was doing my hair — I found a gray hair that looked exactly like a crunchy cellophane noodle.

I kid you not. It was all dry and twisty… UGH!

Everyone in my family goes gray early (I’ve been getting gray hairs since my teens), but this was the first time I’d ever found one of these. How precious.

After plucking it out, I flailed about the bedroom for a few minutes, desperately searching for something to help me forget what had happened.

And that’s when I thought of MAC. I decided to do this playful pink and purple eye with eyeshadows from the MAC Cosmetics Infatuating Rose: 6 Cool Eyes palette ($38).

If you recognize this pink and indigo liner look, it’s because I did a tutorial for it and a few other looks called MAC Infatuating Rose: 6 Ways to Wear the 6 Cool Eyes Palette back in October. 🙂

The rest of the look is pretty simple. I used MAC Blushbaby on my cheeks and MAC Lipglass in Cherry Blossom on my lips.

Other than my hair raising experience, my day’s been pretty mellow. 🙂 What have you been up to?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

For the last three days I’ve been frantically cobbling together a ten page sociology essay on New Age religion and its implications for society. My poor brain is getting to that “I’m fried” state and I need some kind of reward to intice me to finish. Can you suggest something?

That palette looks so nice on you! I got the Warm Eyes one =) I also began to get grey hairs in my very early teens. I got used to it and I’ve found some hairs to be black on the ends, grey in the middle, and black at the roots!

This look would be great for the holidays =)

    Take care!

I love the pinks on you–but I don’t think my very pale skin would look as good in cool tones.

I’m jealous of your skin…it’s true!

I used to randomly find blonde hairs on my head when I was younger, but I got my first white hair around when I entered college! Just one, though; it’s kind of obvious when I don’t have highlights, since I have very fine black hair and the white hair is…well, actually it kind of does look like a crunchy cellophane noodle… Anyway, I never really paid attention to it until I went to get my hair cut one day and my stylist found the hair and made this absolutely hilarious face at it. He cut it off, but after that I kind of just let it grow out on purpose to see if he would make the same face again. I think he secretly finds it highly offensive to his aesthetics, but all he does nowadays is sigh at it and cut it off. Can I say…DISAPPOINTING? I’m practically cultivating the thing for him, for crying out loud!

Pretty rose eyes! The colors look great on you!

That looks great on you, love those colors. See this is why I have been dying my hair since I was like 13, I am NOT EVER going to see a gray hair on top of my head because I’ll smother it to death with blonde dye. 😉

Ahh I sprouted a couple gray hairs in high school. Now, 5 years later, I have a lot more! Thankfully they’re not that noticeable, but it’s still annoying. And I think I’ve had one of those crunchy grays too! I pulled it out with the quickness. *cringe*

OMG, its so nice to know I’m not the only one! My family goes grey early too, and I’ve been getting greys since I was 15! No one believes me when I tell them, they all think I’m joking or delusional. Me and my sister and brother have been getting greys for years, and they only get more plentiful every year. My mom has been completely grey, and dying her hair as long as I can remember!
So glad I’m not the only one out there 🙂
Also love the makeup looks 🙂

OMG, I know how you feel, I’ve actually found a couple dreadfully grey-ish looking hairs already, and it’s not genetic, either. I’m also only an undergraduate, so it’s scary! I think it’s a side effect from the hair dye and trying to achieve that perfect auburn color for my skin tone.

Anyway, you look gorgeous! Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone, it happens. Also to ask you (no segue, sorry!) if you’ve ever tried Stila’s smudge pots and what you thought of them. I’m eyeing the combo set at Sephora right now. 😀

    Hi Tekoa,

GIRL! Are you almost done with your paper?

Makeup bribery is always a good thing to get one through those tough times. Hmm… if you haven’t picked up all the Red She Said stuff I’d suggest getting more from that collection (I am still lusting after more of the Mineralize eyeshadows). But a lipstick from the Monogram collection might be really nice, too. I’m *finally* going to the Pro Store on Friday and Status Symbol is calling my name.

As for permanent stuff, I’ve been lovin’ on Cream Color Base in Pearl lately!

    Hi Briana,

Oh girl… I feel you. I mean, it was fine when they were hidden in the back underneath all my hair, but now they’re showing up on top of my head and in the front!

Do you dye your hair to cover it up, or are you going to let nature take it’s course? Sometimes I have to admit, seeing a woman with really beautiful silver hair is a stunning sight!

    Hi Elena,

Aren’t they scary? Especially the ones that look extra crispy!

What are you studying in school?

Stila has some really nice sets this season, and I love the Stila Smudge Pots. They are really fun and easy to blend and apply. They remind me of MAC Fluidline, except I find them a lil’ easier to blend shadows on.

    Hi Yadiq,

LOL, I have those antenna hairs. You officially don’t have to be alarmed until you find them in the front/bang area.

What workout did you do last night? I ended up running this heinous hill… ugh, it was awful, but I’m pretty sure I burned off a few cookies!

Been meaning to ask you, do you have any suggestions for workout clothes? All of my gym clothes have holes or are frayed! Eek!

girl thats exactly where this grey antenna noodle twisted hair was in the front bang area lol

i did my street fighting class last night totally kicked my behind super intense and capoeira-esque which i LOOOOVVE ( i was able to put my 2 years of capoeira training to good use last night :))

being my workouts revolve on lots of movement and floor work i usually use cropped workout pants just below my knee puma makes great ones and when i can find them at marshalls or century 21 they are really cheap – i also opt for the nike collection of workout pants at kohls which is also really way cheaper than buying nike direct or from sporting good stores- i try not to spend a lot on workout clothes cause they get dingy fast and wear out quick too – sports bras believe it or not i religiously buy at old navy – they are the best (since i am not a big boobie girl they give just the right amt of support lol) and they handle washing really good.

thats my workout clothes advice for the day lol

    Hi Karen!

Fun that you bring up the cool eyes palette again, I bought it a couple of weeks ago and remembered you had done a post about it. I have been wearing both blue, pink and lilac looks with it. Only thing – I find the dark blue a bit difficult to work with. Very matte and can turn out a bit blotchy.

I’m strawberry blonde and have never found a grey hair, LOL! I bet it is traumatizing though…

I definitely dye my hair, I can’t stand the greys lol. I try to go as long as possible in between appointments because having trying to have nice long hair, and dying it is kinda of counter-productive. My almost black hair has finally [2 years later] recovered from being completely blonde, so I’m trying to abuse it as little as possible. Especially since I use a flatiron almost daily.
I’ve seen a few women who can pull off the salt and pepper or totally grey hair, but I don’t think I’m one of them.

that lavender looks reeeeally good with your skin, eyes, n hair. wear it for me! i dont think it really looks that great unless i have a pinky-nude lipstick on- which i cant find one that i like annnywhere =(
ever try a darker purple inplace of the pink?
since the purple looks so nice i bet a light, mossy green and dark forest kinda green combo would also look great on you. again-need my unfound lipstick for that look.
    the headband looks cute too!
