Here’s a Tip for Working With the New MAC Objects of Affection Pigments and Glitter Sets

Butterfingers tested and approved!

The mini jars of MAC Pigment and Glitter in the new MAC Objects of Affection holiday sets are so small (0.09 ounces) that I can barely fit a brush into them. They’re tiny! Butterfingers that I am, I feel like the Abominable Snowman trying to hug Bugs Bunny when I hold these jars, so when I use them, to keep accidental drops and messes to a minimum, I have a little workflow I follow…

First, I place a paper towel down on my work surface. Then, I pour a small amount of whichever product I’m using on the towel, and pick up the product directly from there with my brushes.

Much less mess, and it’s easier to load just the right amount of product on the brushes. 🙂

Here I’m wearing MAC Pigment in Lithe on my lid, Pigment in Deep Brown in my crease and along my lower lash line, and Pigment in English Gilt in the inner corner

Swatches of the Gold and Beige set…

These are pics of the Gold and Beige set, one of four sets in the LE holiday collection (here’s a look at the Pink and Rose set too). I really like this set’s neutral brown and beige shades for daytime looks, and all of the shadows are easy to blend by themselves and together.

Deep Brown, by the way, the matte chocolate Pigment in the kit, is beyond great. It’s one of the smoothest mattes I’ve ever smoothed.

I’ve actually never finished an entire jar of MAC Pigment before, but with this one being so pretty (and smaller than a full-size 0.15-oz. MAC Pigment jar), I suspect I’ll finish it. Smooth and silky, it buffs out beautifully. I think it’s lovely, even when you don’t go all out with it and just blend it on top of a creamy black kohl liner.

Keep your eagle eyes peeled for Gold and Beige, and the other three MAC Pigments and Glitter sets, when they show up October 27 on the MAC website, and a week later on November 6 when they arrive in stores.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I am glad that they came up with smaller sizes of the pigments. The jars never finish. Not to speak of the hole in the purse if one wants more colors.

The Abominable Snowman trying to hug Bugs Bunny! LOL! I am going to think of it throughout the day and laugh.

I really like these and I like the smaller size. Not that I own any pigments to know how much I’d use them…lol

Oh how many times have I knocked over a jar of MAC pigment, sigh… I should use a paper towel next time, thanks!

Very pretty! I have a soft spot for browns and golds – and can definitely appreciate the shimmer on other people. 🙂

So pretty! Except for the glitter, I would use all of them.
What are you wearing on your lips? Looks like the perfect mlbb combo!
    Have a great weekend!

      Hi Isabella!

I’m wearing MAC Boldly Bare Lip Pencil, Kiss the King Lipstick and Chic Supremacy Lipglass, all from the new Nude Lip Bag.

You have a great weekend, too. What are your plans?

I hope you feel better. Maybe make some soup? I just had some for lunch. It’s getting cold here in the Bay Area and I’ve been craving soups and stews.

What kind of books do you like to read? My favorite genre these days is young adult fiction. I just finished a great book called Daughter of Smoke and Bone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is such a gorgeous pigment set but I honestly don’t reach for loose shadows much :/ Even when I just keep them in my drawer with the lids on tight, they still make a mess!

This look is great! I also like the tip. I don’t have any mac pigments but I do have some their old as hell sparkle powders so I might try the technique with those as I always make a huge ass mess!

This is a really great idea! This will definitely help me use my pigments more. I’m clumsy so I always seem to make a mess lol

    Great idea!
Which set do you like most or which one will you use more on a daily basis?
I think these smaller jars will be more useful for the average user since I could never imagine using a normal size up in a lifetime 🙂
    Love, Stefi
