Swatches on NC42 skin along with some quick first impressions of the three new MAC Girls palettes, which are out right meow.
Three new girls just joined the MAC Girls family, and guess what? They’ve got accessories! This time around MAC made matching lipsticks and glosses to go with the eyeshadow palettes.
I’ve still yet to test drive these on my lids and lips, but here are some swatches and thoughts on the Raver Girl, Smarty Pants and Pretty Punk palettes, lipsticks and glosses.
- Price is now $41 for the Girls Eyeshadow Palettes. Last spring they were$39.50. $18.50 for a Lipstick (same price as the permanent collection lipsticks) and $17.50 for a Lipglass (also same price).
- Lipsticks and Lipglasses have packaging that matches the palettes, cute! All of them have the usual vanilla MAC flavor and scent, and I wonder if MAC’s gonna add lipsticks and glosses for the other Girls palettes, hmm…
- Initial arm swatch thoughts? All three palettes have a sensationally soft, almost creamy texture, much like Risk Taker palette from last March. I haven’t tried them on my lids (yet), but I hope they don’t kick up too much dust, which was an issue with Risk Taker…
Which MAC Girl should I do a test look with first? I can’t decide… Do you plan on getting anything from this launch?

I just bought the Raver Girl palette! I went in for a lipstick, and while I was waiting for the SA to find it, this was at the register, swatched them and impulsively added it to my purchase lol. So I would love to see the Raver girl shades on you.

I’m gonna get into it today! Connor has preschool so I have a little more time to experiment/take pics. 🙂 I’m really hoping the purples don’t tear up my eyes, which I’ve had an issue with in the past.
Did you grab anything else from the MAC counter? I’m going on Thursday because I need (“need,” ha ha ha!) a pan of Blushbaby and a mascara primer from Estee Lauder.
The colours in this collection look incredible! I’d normally be all over those bold pinks and purples but for some reason the gorgeous neutrals of smarty pants are calling to me – maybe it’s because that palette suits my personality! ?
I prefer the other lip colours though – god shave the sheen and bracelets galore are perfect! ?

I need a palette like I need a hole in my head. I just love looking at your swatches though. So pretty. I’d wear Smarty pants the most for sure but its very similar to some of my other neutral palettes. Pretty punk reminds me a bit of UD Kristin Leanne which I thought I’d use and never do. Probably a bit too colorful for me. Raver girl is beautiful but I don’t seem to wear much purple either. Of course, anxious to see if you can change my mind when you share your looks!

You can still get some use out of that UD Kristin Leanne palette you never wear. Just grab an angled brush or any eyeliner brush, load it up with a colorful shadow, wet it with water or setting spray, and then apply along your upper lash line as an eyeliner. You can go as thick or as thin as you want! If it’s still too bright, then next time you do it, lay down a layer of black liner first, then apply the colorful liner on top (the black liner will deepen the color).
I think I´d get the most use out of Smartie Pants, but I love Pretty Punk!

What a fun collection! I like the packaging. I’m leaning towards the Smarty Pants palette, but the colors in Raver Girl look pretty too. I like all the names. It would be so fun to have a job naming makeup. 🙂
I like the colors in Smarty Pants but there’s too much frost for me. 🙂 I feel like you’re going to like Pretty Punk better, with its purple/blue. Are you guys getting psyched for Halloween? How is the face painting going?
Oh I love Raver Girl! Especially the lippies! And it fits, I was the raver girl lol (without the drugs, didn’t need those, just had lots of energy to burn). I want! Definitely checking this out!
