Bienvenidos a Florida!

November 20th, 2008 by Karen 27 Comments

Hola, ladies! I just got into town (Boca Raton, to be exact) and wanted to say a quick hello. Surprisingly, I am still functional enough to type (LOL!) because travel always wears me out.

Guess who almost missed her flight this morning. I’ll give you one guess… 🙂

Note to file: running through airport terminals to catch a flight is SO NOT COOL!

But we’re here now, at the hotel in Boca. Jen’s wedding is the day after tomorrow.

Don’t let the view from the hotel room balcony deceive you; it’s friggin’ freezing up in here, Mr. Bigglesworth! Well, not exactly freezing, but it sho’ ain’t 85 and balmy.

For the record, hotel bathroom lighting isn’t conducive to good photography or to the proper application of concealer.

My first order of business is to find a place to get my nails done for the wedding. Hmm…

I’m bringing my bottle of NARS Bohemia Nail Polish (a shimmery pink with green pearl) with me.

I want to thank you guys for being so nice and supportive about my mother in law’s illness. She goes in for her second surgery tomorrow (to have another mastectomy, the other side).

El Hub ended up coming out here to Florida with me, although I know he really wanted to be in Hawaii to help. He’d only been back from Hawaii for three days when we learned that Mom had to go in for another operation.

We spoke with her today on the phone, though, and it was good to hear her voice. It’s hard going to something fun like a wedding knowing what she’s going through, but our hearts and minds are with her.

Anywho, I don’t mean to dampen your day or to bum you out. Just wanted to say thanks. Here’s to hoping you’re having a great Thursday! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Try to have fun in Boca…and don’t get run over by a retiree on a golf cart. I’m glad that El hub got to come along. I think it would be even harder to go to something like that solo right now. You two can be there for each other. 🙂

I will remember her in my prayers tonight and tomorrow…and I’ll be busy praying…(I have a big audit at work tomorrow – and I think we’ll do fine…just nerve wracking you know?)

Well, it LOOKS warm and beautiful…. hope it shapes up to be a memorable trip in the very best of ways! I’m glad El Hub could come with you, it will probably make it a little easier on both of you to be together!

Of course, Hubby and I send our very best wishes that everything goes smoothly for your mother-in-law, and that it’s all an easy recovery from here on out!

    Hi Megan,

So far no golf carts! 🙂 I haven’t really gotten the chance to explore the town, but from what I’ve seen it seems nice.

Good luck tomorrow on your audit. I am sure it’ll go smoothly and that it won’t be too stressful for you.

Welcome to the Sunshine state. This week is really cold, I hope Boca isn’t that bad. Up here it’s been below freezing point every single night. All the best goes to your mother in law, and the surgeries. I’ve been MIA for a while and now I’m doing the catchup =)

    Thank you, sweetie.

LOL regarding the counter. For once I decided to pack light… well, sorta. I brought three palettes instead of five, ha ha ha!

    Hi Lexi,

Aww, I’m glad that I have other MAC addicts out there that got my back! You will have to let me know what eyeshadow I need, LOL.

Why are you headed out here in January? Will it be for vacay or a family event?

Ah well, I hope you stay warm during the time here. It’s kind of a surprise to us all to get that cold. If I didn’t get stuck in the no-internet situation for almost a week, I could have warned you. Anyways, not to rain on your parade or anything, I really hope it doesn’t rain this weekend. I think Boca is warmer than my place, at least that may cheer you up a bit 😉
