Press-On Nail Stickers: Fab or Faux Pas?

February 4th, 2011 by Karen 21 Comments

Press on, girly. We all just gotta press on…like Minx manicures. They press on. 🙂 Ever since Minx hit the scene a few years ago, press-on sticker nail coverings have been all the rage.

I generally try to keep adhesives away from my fingertips on account of an “incident” I had with a set of Lee Press-On Nails back when I was a kid (long story), so I’m not really into ’em, but when I spotted the new Glee-inspired Chic Print For Nails ($15) stickers at Sephora the other day, I almost caved!

What do you think of press-on nail stickers?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Oh, HAPPY FRIDAY! If you plan to celebrate the end of the workweek with a little makeup, Hautelook is having a great sale on NYX. To partake, you do have to join Haute Look, but it’s free (they will send occasional emails) and only takes a second.

Woohoo for Friday! We got back from vacationing in Costa Rica this week and it has been hard getting back in to the work routine. I am sooo ready for this weekend!

Well I think they are variable. Well applied and nice design they are cool. Poorly applied or horrible design they are tacky. I need to know what happened with the Lee Press on nails… came off and stuck to your bum? xoxox

i personally haven’t tried them, but coming from a girl who hates waiting for her nails to dry, i find them fascinating!

I’ve never tried them, so I can’t give an educated opinion. HOWEVER, sticky stuff on my nails would probably be a bad thing. Regular polish makes my nails peel. I can only imagin how bad my nails would be after something like this.

    Also, TGIF!

    Hey girls!
I have a question..but wasn’t sure where to post it. I have a special occasion tomorrow and I’m really unsure about what makeup to wear.. My dress is red satin and my shoes will probably be black. I was thinking of doing a smokey eye with nude lip.. my smokey eyes tend to look a bit muddy though, so if you have any tips that would be great!
    Please tell me your opinions!

I think a dramatic cat eye would look good with a red dress and black shoes.

…and maybe a natural-to-pinkishnude lip could go with that.

I think they can be beautiful and cool when properly applied. I haven’t tried them yet though. I’m so clumsy I’m scared I’d have problems with application and make a mess lol.

I said Leave ‘Em, but only because it’s do-it-yourself and I can picture that debacle! 🙂 I think Minx looks like a fun thing to try and some of their designs are awesome. Naturally there’s nowhere around here to get it done, but I’m happy to live vicariously through you and all the other ladies who have access to them and comment here. 🙂

PS Have a great weekend and don’t forget to do some Super Bowl snacking, even if you don’t love football!

I don’t know about the Sephora/OPI ones, but the Sally Hansen version rocks!

I may be a sucker – but I caved and bought the navy w/white polka dots tonight at Sephora. My 3 yr old is obsessed with her toes being painted so we had to pick up the Glee minis as well:)

I think this is a good idea, but it would be hard cutting them down to the exact shape of your nail

I tried Avon’s press-on nail polish when it came out a few years ago and I had a lot of trouble getting it on correctly. It didn’t really work for me. But I think if you can do it right– why not?

I have used nail stickers before and I found out that they don’t work on each fingernail… they don’t work if you have a little bit rounded nails, not at the tips but, I don’t know how to explain this right but you’ll notice when you use the stickers.

The Sally Hansen Salon Effects Strips are the best thing that ever happened to me! They make my short nails look long, come in sophisticated patterns like lace and fishnet and last much longer than regular polish on my hands. I get tons of compliments on them and they’re actually made from real polish.
