What Are You Wearing on Your Nails Today?

February 19th, 2010 by Karen 49 Comments

TGIF, rockstars! Congrats on making it to the weekend, *raises teacup.* Just a quick polish check in — I’m wearing China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy ($6.50) on my fingers and toes, ’cause I want to pretend it’s summer. How about you?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Speaking of nail polish, Illamasqua’s hosting a contest to create their next hot Nail Varnish colors.

Submit an image, photograph and/or swatch of your dream color along with a description of it in 50 words or less. Tell ’em what inspired you and why the shade should be one of Illamasqua’s next polishes (one entry per person, please).

From February 21 through March 14, send your entry via e-mail to competition@illamasqua.com; bloggers who post an entry on their sites can send their link to competition@illamasqua.com. Snail mail more your thang? Send your entry to Competition c/o Illamasqua, 6-8 Amwell Street, London, EC1R 1UQ.

On May 5, two winners will be selected to see their dream colors created and sold exclusively online at Illamasqua.com and at select Selfridges department stores in England. They’ll also get a bottle of their winning colors before anyone else. Kinda cool, yah?

Well, since it was swatch city yesterday, a whole rainbow of colors: one of the new Color Club polishes, Take Me To Your Chateau, a couple of the Essence polishes that are now at ULTA – have you heard of these yet? They’re a (I believe) German brand, the polishes are super cute and bright, and only .99 ! I bought six and tried out Pool Party and Check Me Out, and then I also have Rimmel Pulsating on my thumbs! Well. I’ve been a bit busy!

Its really subtle and sort of pastel-ish. It’s a nice alternative because I always wear light pinks 🙂

I painted my nails last night – Essie Mademoiselle – sheer and simple. Was going to paint them NARS – Orgasm but it’s too orangey-pink. I think I’ll wait till Summer and keep it for a pedicure shade.

I love that color on you!

Essie’s Status Symbol, from the 2009 spring collection, I believe. I’m just like you, wearing an inappropriate-for-winter color! I live in Colorado, where we hardly have a spring, so my nails are probably the closest we’ll have to spring until summer finally hits lol.

Sally Hansen – I think it’s called Lightning. It’s a banana yellow and it makes me happy 😀 Especially when everything is so dull and grey outside.
Thanks for letting us know about the Illamasqua competition! I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen a color and thought “I wish they made a nail polish like that.” So this is right up my alley ^_^

On my left thumb I have OPI Absolutely Alice (showing it to the girls on my swim team, since blue and gold are our school colors, and I’m trying to start a pre-meet toenail painting tradition).

On my toes I have chipping OPI Mad as a Hatter (it’s held up GREAT for 2 weeks, today it finally started to chip a bit).

So, both will change within the next few hours. I’m thinking Orly Snowcone for my toes (with a shimmer over it) and Cotton Candy for my tips.
