What to Wear with Fall’s Trendy Teals: 5 Mani/Pedi Pairings for Teal Fingers or Toes

September 10th, 2011 by Karen 25 Comments

It seems like everywhere I turn lately, I keep running into teal, like over at the YSL counter a few weeks ago, when I bumped into La Laque Nail Laquer Wintergreen ($20), a deep, dark creamy greenish blue from the new Midnight Garden collection (I snagged the last bottle, yay!).

And last weekend at Sephora, I spotted a bottle of shimmery green Tempted by Teal ($9.50) from about 20 feet away…

Okay, 10 feet, give or take, but I bet I would have also seen it from 20. 🙂

It hails from the new Sephora By OPI Garden of Good & Evil collection.

My latest teal crush comes all the way from outer space (by way of Southern California). It’s this kickin’ little bottle from Urban Decay’s new nail kit called Mars.

Dontcha just love the little flecks of silver glitter? They’re like stars. Mars and stars…

Of course, as much as I like teal, and other colors, for that matter, I’m a die-hard mixed mani/pedi girl at heart. I have trouble committing to any one color on all 10 fingers and toes (it’s one of my many beauty quirks), so I’ve been compiling a list of potential fall colors to pair with teal in my mani/pedi combos.

Colors like…

1. Creamy dark purple

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Urban-Night, $5

2. Creamy dark gray

NARS Nail Polish in Galion, $17

3. Shimmery saffron

China Glaze Trendsetter, $5

4. Creamy dark chocolate

Dolce & Gabbana Nail Lacquer in Chocolate, $20

5. And creamy tan

Essie Nail Polish in Case Study, $8

How do you feel about mixed mani/pedis? Do you go there, or do you prefer to wear the same shades on both your fingers and toes?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

i NEVER wear the same on my toes and fingers. pedi lasts for like a month while mani lasts a day or 2, so it’s always changing 😀 i keep the toes bright and actually have a great teal on my feet now! it’s a sinful colors shade

I love all your combinations! I actually wore something very similar to your first combo a few weeks ago: Zoya Charla on my fingers and Zoya Vanessa on my toes! 😀

I generally do either a really bright fuschia or red pedi but change up my mani every few days. Too much hassle changing pedis as often as i do my fingernails.

I love all the dark purple shades that were released this season! It’s like everyone was on the same page with that color 🙂

That Urban Decay polish is so, so pretty! I think my favorite partner for it is the dark purple.

I am loving the Essie color in case study!! I never do the same color on my toes and fingernails, my fingernail polish chips too fast!! Also the reason I will never spend more than $10 bucks for polish!! But, I am feeling these colors!!!

I’ve been noticing a lot of mixed mani’s with accents on one finger nail. I think it looks cool, so I’ll try it one of these days. I think one time I did it, but I had to delete the nail and make it all uniform. As far as different nail colors from my fingers to my toes, I do that all the time. I have on Sally Hansen’s gold sparkly nail sticker thing on my hands and my toes used to have on a turquoise, but I erased them today. I’m thinking about putting on the jean sally hansen pattern on my toes. I think that would look cute when I wear jeans.

I never wear nail polish on my fingers. It chips way too quickly and it feels funny, but I get a pedicure every couple of weeks. I love putting bright colors on my toes. I just ordered a couple of the Les Jeans de Chanel nail polishes. Blue is my favorite color, but it’s hard to find a shade that looks good on me. Karen, did you do anything for FNO? I would love to go to NYC someday for FNO.

    LMAO,
Yes I do go there . . . sometimes. I usually prefer my mani/pedi’s to match though.

    Also,
I love the Teal color from UD. . . I wish they came out with full size bottles, and sold them in singles instead of a set where you are stuck with colors you don’t really want. Eh, a girl can wish.

I love those China Glaze colors.
I usually don’t wear the same color on my toes as my hands. I like to do brighter colors or colors that are a little more bold on my toes. I don’t often get a pedicure since they last very little in my line of work. Plus, I tend to go a little more understated.

I never use color on my fingers, thanks to being in an uber-conservative workplace, but I go craaaaaazy on my toes!

Question: my skin tone is very close to yours so. Would you use Case Study as a nude polish?? Work appropriate ? Or what would be a nice fall nude for work thats not too boring?
