I’m still playing my way through that custom NARS palette, and I’m still rediscovering classics that keep speaking to me (because, obviously, my makeup talks to me), saying nuggets of wisdom like, “Karen, you seriously need to consider wearing us every day for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.”
Case in point: the magic combo of Madrague and Alhambra. If these two duos sang a duet, it would go a little something like this…
The sound of disco perfection
Madrague is a matte combo with a creamy brown caramel and a warm beige… Think elevated basics for your crease and brow bone.
Alhambra has a glowing rose gold on one side and a shimmery champagne on the other, and I’ll wear either one, or a mix of both on the inner lids for a wide, doe-eyed effect.
Draw some dainty winged liner, add a couple layers of mascara, and you’re set.
I think this eye look is neutral enough to go with most blushes, but it looks extra pretty when you wear it with warm golden pink. I’m wearing it here with NARS Deep Throat blush, which I’ve always thought was the better, more wearable version of Orgasm…
I know Orgasm gets all the love, but Deep Throat is more pink and less coral, so I think it’s closer to the actual color of flushed cheeks. Plus, Deep Throat’s shimmer is more opalescent and less frosty than Orgasm’s, so it’s more forgiving when skin has visible pores and texture.
Swatch it next time you’re at the counter. I think you’ll like it.
Key makeup for this look
- Eyes: Cargo Black Pencil and MAC Coffee (winged liner), NARS Alhambra (inner lids), NARS Madrague (brown side in the crease, and the beige side on brow bone), Laura Mercier Caviar Mascara
- Cheeks: NARS Deep Throat (blush)
- Lips: NARS Viebke lipstick and NARS Tasmania gloss

Thanks, Sissi!

I’ve always been of the opinion that the thoughtful use of different finishes—something matte/satin-matte used with something shimmery/glossy—gives an effect with more depth and dimension than using all of one finish. You glow!
Karen says
I’m all about playing with finishes, too. I love the subtle contrast of satin against matte, especially!
Diana says
This is my favorite everyday look. You look radiant and gorgeous!
Karen says
Thanks, Diana! 🙂 How was your Tuesday? Good I hope!
Michelle says
Love this look!! Deep Throat is easily in my top 3 blushes… I wear it way more often than Orgasm! That lip combo is amazing too! ?
Karen says
Hi Michelle,
Deep Throat is such a good blush. I really do think it deserves a cult following!
Lexi says
I love Madrague and Alhambra. I use them together each time I open up my NARS pro palette! And super agree about Deep Throat over Orgasm. Ha, that sentence made me feel funny. Hahahaha
Karen says
They’re so good together, Lexi! What other NARS pairings are your go-tos?
Sherry says
Love this look on you Karen!! Beautimous!!
Karen says
Thanks, Sherry! Hope you had a great Tuesday.

This look has such a fresh, springy glow! Your skin continues to look fab, btw. I think that’s a real coup, especially after a long winter. 🙂 I don’t want you to keel over but I have been considering a new blush for spring – something in the light pink range. I’ll have to give Deep Throat a swatch.
Karen says
WAIT, WHAT?!
Don’t tease me, friend!
Kim says
I know, right?! I’m stunning myself. But, full disclosure, I’m kind of perusing the Chanel. If I have to go “off color”, I can at least stay on brand. HAHA! Maybe!
Karen says
I’m 100% on board with you staying with Chanel, because the Joues Contraste blushes are so easy to blend and last forever. 🙂
Savannah says
This looks gorgeous on you! I’m very hesitant towards NARS products (I’ve tried lots and only the lid primer worked out for me but I’ve since switched since it doesn’t last long). Are the shadows similar in feeling as Mac? Mac is the only eyeshadows I can wear. My eyes are sensitive.
Karen says
Hi Savannah,
I think they are. (I’m a MAC girl as well.) FYI, MAC recently revamped/reformulated their entire powder eyeshadow line. I hope you can still wear them!
Savannah says
Hmm, I thought MAC had a bit of an eyeshadow reformulation a few years ago too? I recently purchased one of those new ones “Starry night” which is a way better version of club. I did try it on to see the color but didn’t have it on all day. So, that will be the true test! I hope they’re still compatible with me!
