NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer Review + Swatches

November 30th, 2016 by Karen 20 Comments

I just pulled two NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers out of my makeup bag because I’ve been rockin’ them 24/7.

OK, maybe not 24/7…but most of the waking hours. Yes, I NEED concealer, LOL!

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer
16 shades, permanent, $30, available January 1 at NARS boutiques and online
Chantilly (true ivory shade for a light complexion), Vanilla (tiny cast of pink or a light complexion), Creme Brulee (fair with a light pink undertone), Cannelle (light with a peachy undertone), Honey (warm peach for a light to medium complexion), Custard (yellow tone for a light to medium complexion), Macadamia (medium with a peachy undertone), Ginger (golden undertone for a medium complexion), Biscuit (medium dark natural balance of pink and yellow undertones), Caramel (medium dark yellow and golden undertones), Chestnut (medium with a pink undertone), Amande (medium dark with golden olive undertones), Hazelnut (medium dark with a warm red undertone), Cafe (dark shade with warm red undertones), Cacao (dark shade with deep golden brown undertones), Dark Coffee (dark brown with an olive undertone)

“NARS’ highest coverage concealer yet delivers natural natural-looking coverage in an oil-free cream formula that blurs, concealers and smooths imperfections with its soft-focus smoothing complex. Optimal Diffusion Powder helps maximize light diffusion with spherical surface powders designed to absorb and refract light with a powerful optical effect. Instantly transforms the look of skin to help blur imperfections. Advanced powders created with a unique, interwoven structure lay flat while staying connected for the highest level of coverage with the lightest touch. Resists settling into fine lines and pores. Collagen-boosting peptides smooth and reduce the appearances of wrinkles and pores. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate, soften and plump the skin for a healthier-looking complexion. Antioxidant Daily Defense delivers a cocktail of Vitamin A, C and E for environmental defense.”

— NARS PR

They’re full coverage, stay out of my fine lines and blur my pores. That’s a concealer triple threat!

I’m wearing Macadamia under my eyes in this video and Ginger on my cheeks and around my mouth.

They’re $30 each and coming to NARS counters in January 2017.

Are you able to share the ingredients? Nars usually works for me, but I have a lot of cosmetic allergies. I’m trying to decide if I should wait for this one or pick up another tube of radiant creamy concealer ?

      Hi Karen,

I’m sorry, unfortunately I don’t have the ingredient list. If I can track one down I’ll leave it here on the post…

I want to try these! These sound lovely! I’m not super happy with either of the concealers I’m using right now. Not unhappy, just not amazed by them.

Hi Connor! So nice of you to make your thoughts known in the videos 🙂

I love how whenever I turn the camera on either the baby or the cat starts talking, LOL! 🙂

Hope you are having a great week so far. I’m still recovering from Thanksgiving!

Mina’s not a talker, but Jiji definitely is!
My week is okay, work kind of sucks, but that happens.

Hahah yeah, Nars’ is weird to say 🙂 I am also SUPER picky about what I wear under my eyes for the same reason as you, so I’m rrrreally impressed that this one gets your seal of approval.

They sound like everything I want from a concealer. And good to hear Connor Claires thoughts as well!

They are cute and I love the sketchbook….but I want to know how long before they dry out and are un-useable.

      Hi Jessica,

I’ve had these for a few weeks and so far haven’t experienced any issues with the product drying out. It seems to stay creamy! I think if you are good about keeping the cap on tightly that it shouldn’t be an issue.

I can’t wait to give this a try! NARS radiant is my jam but I can use higher coverage any day. Do these dry out?? I wonder that as well.

YAS! Finally! I can’t wait to try this out – NARS always does a good concealer but I need a good cream one… mah age, yo. I had a sample from Chantecaille that I LOVED but let’s be honest… I’m not buying a FS of that $$$ lol thank you for your review! <3

Wow! It sounds like an awesome concealer, Karen. I’d be so glad to use one that not only has full coverage but also does help me hide the pores.

How would you compare these to Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer in terms of coverage. I like the coverage of KA’s SSE, but find the colors are odd and can’t seem to find a good color match.
I love the Radiant Creamy Concealer for under my eyes and love the colors available, it would just be nice to have something more pigmented to cover spots and what not.

They do look darker but from the description it sounds like I’d still be Vanilla. Either way, it’s definitely going on my wishlist!

Hey Karen…thanks for the review. Could you do side by side comparison swatches to the Radiant Creamy concealer? Thanks.

Thanks for the review, Karen! Is the main diff vs. Nars Radiant Creamy just the coverage level, or is there anything else you’d say is noticeable (not just ingredients)? Thx!

Karen, thanks! I think we’re in a similar fondation range, I’m Natasha Denona 42 (for spot on early winter coverage) and UD Naked Skin 6.5. (about the same period of the year). I use Nars Radiant Concealer in Ginger, but it’s a tad too yellow and a itty bit too light (but after foundation its fine). So which would your recommend? I’d really like something exactly like Ginger but with a little bit of rose/peach to cover VERY deep, dark brown, green-blue undereye circles. Thanks!!!

Hello! I’m an no 30 in Mac concealer and was wondering what color would match me the most? Would I be custard? Or macadamia? Or neither? Lol … please help!
