Tabs has won a number of prestigious awards over the years, like the one he frequently cites in his email signature, “Winner of People magazine’s 2010 World’s Sexiest Tabby award,” but ya know, I’ve won a few awards of my own.

World’s Sexiest Tabby, 2010
No, not for my groundbreaking research in cat phrenology. My awards have typically been for less…influential endeavors, like my last place award in the 2007 Amateur Karaoke Championships (Western Division).
What a joke, too. That was supposed to be my year…
I’d planned to sing Easy Lover by Phil Collins, a song I knew like the back of my hand, but replaced it with Maria from West Side Story at the last minute.
It was an unorthodox move, to be sure, but a gamble that I felt confident would pay off in the end.
Wrong. I thought that with so many other entrants also singing Phil Collins songs, I’d pull ahead, but then I screwed up the lyrics to the song…
In the song, when I should have been emoting, “Mah-ree-ahh, Mah-ree-ahh, Mah-reee-ahhhhh,” my brain short-circuited, and I sang “Pru-nella, Pru-nella, Pru-nellaaah” into the microphone instead.
Prunella, like the name of today’s unsung makeup hero, the $15 MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella.
Seriously, how was I to know that this shimmery, blackish plum would infiltrate my psyche at such an inopportune moment? 🙂

Man, oh man, I sure do love to travel. The food, seeing the sights, sampling the local cuisine, meeting people from other walks of life, the food…
I’m detecting a trend here! 🙂

Please keep your re-making hands off of The Terminator, The Sound of Music and The Godfather (both I and II).
Thank you!
My parents immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the mid 1970s and arrived here with high hopes for the family, and because I got pretty decent grades in school, they were hell bent on me becoming a medical doctor (obviously that didn’t happen…and for the better! I can’t stand the sight of blood, and hospitals freak me out.)
I can still remember my dad saying, “Why work on animals when you could work on people?”
Sigh…
I love and appreciate my parents, but a lot of important discussions were lost in translation during my teenage years.
I ran a couple of time while I was in Tahoe, and truth be told, the runs sucked because I could definitely feel the effects of the altitude. The city is over 1 mile high, and it almost felt like I was running with a 20-pound weight strapped to my chest.
But now, though, back down at sea level where the oxygen is richer, I feel a little bit stronger for it.
NOTHING in my cupboard matches, and it is slowly but surely driving me nuts.
Funny. There’s an ice cream truck that drives through this neighborhood on occasion playing the same song with a remixed bass beat. It’s like the hip-hop ice cream truck, haaaay! So weird.
Hello and happy Labor Day, friend! It took me a while, but I finally watched the True Blood finale last night, so if you want to dish, holla at me in the comments so we can talk about that epic last scene (WHAT THE WHAT?!).
Also, I think I mentioned reading a book called Delirium by Lauren Oliver? Well, meh, it was just okay. Decent writing, but it puttered along at a slow pace, and I kept having Twilight flashbacks.
If you like pretty straightforward romances, it does get great reviews.
Right now I’m just counting down the seconds until Outpost, the second book in the Enclave series, comes out at midnight tomorrow. I pre-ordered it, but I’m wondering if midnight means that it’ll show up on my Kindle at midnight Pacific Time or Eastern. If it’s Eastern, that would mean 9 p.m. my time, which means I could start reading it tonight!
Okay…I need to chill out, LOL!
Anywho, if you have a minute, please drop in and say hello in the Monday Poll.
1. Mood:
2. Do you shower in the morning or at night before bed?
3. Which movies would you *never* want to see remade?

6. Let’s order a pizza! Where should we go, and what topping should we get?
7. Have you prepared at all for the holidays?
8. What’s one of someone else’s habits that you wish you could change?

At the top of the mountain after riding the Heavenly Gondola.
I saw these guys setting up for a race and wondered how it might feel to cross the finish line, LOL!

Well that was weird…
I had no idea there were bike messengers in Novato, but apparently there are.
Oh, before I get to that, Tahoe was so much fun. Jet skiing, good food, and a gorgeous gondola ride up to almost 10,000 feet above sea level! What a beautiful place. And the water — I still can’t believe how blue it is. From the look of it, I’d swear it was a tropical ocean.
A cold, cold tropical ocean…
When El Hub and I got home last night, Tabs was in a tizzy and pacing around the house because he hadn’t yet heard from his agent about the status of his Hollywood star. See, last month we got word that he was being considered for one, which would be a huge honor for a cat who’s only been acting for less than a year, but they told us that we’d hear back about it by the first of this month.
Well, the first came and went, which we took to mean that Tabs wasn’t getting his star this time.
So, about that bike messenger I mentioned — we heard a knock on the door this afternoon, and Tabs yells, “Meow!” Get the door please!
“Okay, okay, I’m coming!” I rush downstairs, open the door, and there’s this guy there who looks exactly like Joseph Gorden-Levitt, holding out a mysterious-looking envelope and sitting on a fixed gear bicycle. No brakes. Like from the movie, Premium Rush.
I’m like, “Uh…hey, man. Can I help you?”
“Delivery for Tabs the Cat,” he says and sounds very official. “Can you sign for it?”
“Sure…” I say, so he pulls a pen from behind his ear and hands me a form. I sign it, hand it back, and then he takes off down the street. “Later!”
Nice calves, I’m thinking as he peddles away.
I close the door, still a little dumbfounded, and hand the envelope down to Tabs.
“Meow! Meow!” he says, grabbing it and skittering away. It’s from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the group that gives out the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
I follow Tabs into the living room and see that he’s already clawed open the envelope. He reads it, then looks up at me with, what? — could that be a tear in his eye? “Mrrow!!” he shouts excitedly. I got my Hollywood star!!
He’s been on cloud nine all afternoon…
As his assistant, I’m wondering how he’s going to juggle more acting roles with his modeling and other pursuits, but he’s the boss. I just do what I’m told.
Speaking of that, he asked me to post the most recent pics from his kitty modeling portfolio.
Here they are! 🙂
