$9 L’oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner Simply Works

January 5th, 2009 by Karen 35 Comments

For New Year’s I resolved to get back into shape, so yesterday I headed to the gym at the booty crack of dawn.

I figured a workout sesh would help me accomplish two valuable things: 1) I could burn off the obscene amount of mint chocolate chip ice cream I ate the night before, and 2) I could road test L’oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner ($9).

L’oreal claims that Gentle Lip Conditioner is “96% of natural origin.” Like you, I’m not entirely sure what that’s supposed to mean (what’s the remaining 4%?), but the product does contain sweet almond oil and vitamin E, and I do know what both of those are, LOL!

It comes in 10 sheer (read: subtle) shades, taste- and fragrance-free, each designed to soften and moisturize lips. I tried Sheer Peach, a nearly transparent, shimmery peach.

I was running late for spinning class, so I slathered on Sheer Peach while going from my car to the gym in the parking lot.

Right away the texture reminded me of Philosophy Kiss Me Lip Balm. It’s a little thinner than MAC lipglass and non-sticky, as well.

At the gym I huffed, puffed and sweated like Whitney Houston circa the Bobby Brown years, and I could feel Gentle Lip Conditioner workin’ its magic on my lips the entire time.

I can usually tell the good from the bad lip conditioners by how my lips feel a few hours after putting one on. In Bare Naturale’s case, my lips felt great — soft and flake-free.

L’oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner

Price: $9
Use: To soften and moisturize dry, flaky lips (gym approved!)
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

I’m keeping a tube in my gym bag, fo’ sho!

Karen

Dude, Karen, isn’t Patrick Bateman HOT? LOL. That is my freaking favorite movie of all time.

Besides that, I have been looking for a good lip conditioner. I will definitely pick this up later today when I am at Long’s.

    Hi Karen!

I might have to give this a try. I am trying to replace a night moisturizer for my lips that was from victoria’s secret called ‘Balmy Nights.’ This might not work b/c it has a tint, which would probably just be for during the day.
What would you suggest for a night-time lip moisturizer?

    Hi Katee,

LOL, yup, it is. Dang, why is the scene when he’s running around with only hightops and a chainsaw both hot and disturbing at the same time?

    Hi Nessa,

I *love* Philosophy Kiss Me balm in clear for night time! Have you tried it? I know they carry it at Sephora. I put on a layer and in the morning my lips feel super soft.

Hope you’re having a lovely Monday!

    Hi Almira,

I usually like wear a little bit of makeup to the gym (all those mirrors and harsh lighting… so unforgiving!). I don’t like to wear heavily pigmented or sticky lip balms, and this one is both sheer and comfortable.

    Happy Monday!

    Hi Ellery,

It’s pretty, yah? Hon, you’re lucky enough to not need any makeup when you work out! It gets harder to be cute underneath those florescent lights when as you’re in your 30s, LOL.

    Hi Tami,

OoOOo — Soft Honey sounds pretty. After I finish this tube maybe I’ll make that my next one!

Dunno if you’ve heard, but our man C. Bale is starring as John Conner in the new Terminator movie.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for a shirtless scene or two or five, LOL!

I’m not very adventurous with my lip balm. I’ve been using goold ol’ cherry chapstick for years now because it’s moisturing with a hint of pink. But L’oreal’s lip balm sounds promising, so I’m going to give that a shot.

Looks very very natural and moisturizing ! I usually don use any makeup but these days I do feel like putting some bronzer on sometimes. Yeah it does come on my sleeve …another reason I dont wear white during workouts.

    Hi Heidi,

I’m not adventurous with certain products, too (like my brow products). This balm is very nice, though, and works great. 🙂 If you end up trying it please let me know what you think!

    Hi Indian Girl,

I used to not wear makeup to the gym… but I yah, lately I’ve been feeling like I need a lil’ somethin-somethin. I might try a cream bronzer next time I go. Maybe that’ll help me look more alive!

    Hey Karen,

This looks really good! I really like applicator, too. I have a preference for the kind where you don’t have to keep dipping the sponge or brush.

I always wear make-up to the gym, and I can tell by looking at the girls around me (and their surprisingly coordinated outfits, too, lol) that I’m not alone. I won’t do full face, just some light concealer with powder and gloss. It never comes off either, and I can actually walk around afterward without channeling the look of the undead.

    Hi Elena,

I agree — the tip makes it so much easier to apply (especially if you’re running late to your spinning class, LOL). 🙂

So I totally check out what makeup other women are wearing, too. Some ladies do a full on face and still manage to sweat without it budging (amazing). I wish I could be one of those girls with the coordinated gym gear! I’m lucky if my workout pants don’t have holes, ha!

I love mint choc ice cream too xD i usually eat a whole tub to myself… Unfortunately though I never burn it off afterwards..so I have been increasingly gaining weight.

I’ve never seen that in the UK. It sucks that L’oreal sells different stuff in Europe. =_=

Coincidentally I was thinking of getting a new lip balm today as my Chanel Hydra Care Lip Treatment is kind of running out. I love the packaging on this thing, is it a twist or a squeeze type tube? Either way I definitely think I’ll give this a try! =)

I swear you must have been reading my mind because CVS has their Loreal BOGO sale right now and I’ve been thinking what I wanted to try out. Guess this will be it.

As much as I drool over C.Bale as Batman, I can’t bring myself to watch him as sadistic crazy chain saw guy. But I am soo checking out Terminator when it comes out 😀

    Hi Stephie,

LOL… that movie is quite disturbing, true. However the shirtless scenes make it easier to take. 😉

Have you seen the trailer for the new Terminator? I’m a long-time fan of the series, so I hope they do it justice!

I never wear makeup when I exercise. It is better for your skin to let it breathe, and I don’t think you have to look good ALL the time.
And gosh C-Bale is awesome :3 I actually got here by searching “c bale” into google pictures 😀
