A Rose in the Heart of the City: Meet Chloe Eau de Parfum

March 25th, 2010 by Karen 19 Comments

A friend of mine used to have an apartment in please-don’t-call-it-‘Frisco with the most amazing, magical flower garden. Hidden from the street, it was in the center of the building on the ground floor, and all of the apartments overlooked it. Each time she’d open a window, a rainbow of beautiful floral fragrances would waft up from the garden and blow right into her living room.

Chloe’s floral Eau de Parfum ($85) reminds me a lot of that apartment, to that time in my life when my heart pumped to the beat of the city, and I’ve been wearing it practically nonstop for days!

As a matter of fact, I’m even wearing it to bed. 🙂

It’s not a new scent, having been around since at least 2008 (NOTE: Sephora also carries a new Chloe Eau de Toilette), but it’s new to me — a light and fresh floral with notes of freesia, mandarin orange, honey and tea rose.

My nose also detects a bit of an edge to go with the fragrance’s girly side, a vibe that’s both feminine and urban and reflected in the bottle’s design.

This doesn’t feel to me like it’s made for flowy-haired ingenues in ruffled sundresses who prance through fields of flowers. I think it’s more for the girl who hits the Ferry Building farmer’s market downtown on warm Saturdays after spinning class. She wears jeans and white T-shirts to show off her curves (but never outfits that give it all away). She’s got her hair tied back in a ponytail, and wears a touch of gloss, rosy blush and mascara, yay! 🙂

I love how Chloe makes me feel and the fact that it lasts so long. She speaks to my inner city girl, the one who now lives in the burbs…

If you like light florals with an urban edge, go ahead and give Chloe a sniff. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

P.S. Planning to visit SF in the not-to-distant future? Check your calendar, and drop by Union Square for their annual Macy’s Flower Show if you’ll be in the area between March 28 and April 11.

It’s one of five big flower shows Macy’s puts on each year in different cities, decking out flagship stores with elaborate floor-to-ceiling displays and fresh flower arrangements created to coincide with special in-store events and offers.

I’ve been a few times, and they’re something to behold! Get your floral fill while you grab a great gift-with-purchase. Among other offers, this year the SF store’s offering a a Chloe pouch, Deluxe Mini Eau de Parfum and Mini Body Lotion if you spend $85 or more on any Chloe fragrance.

If you’re able to go, don’t forget to bring your camera! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love this fragrance too Karen! I included it in a post on spring scents. Nordstrom has a nice set which includes parfum, & body lotion is a cute hat box for $110. I also like the nw Chanel Chance eau Tendre, have you sniffed that?

    hey karen!

i love chloe edp – i normally hate fruity florals, so for me to say i like this is a HUUUGE deal…

i hate the beginning, it’s a bit too loud, soapy and “screechy” if that makes sense – too high pitched for me, but i do love how long it lasts and stays on my skin.

i love the fresh, rosy aspect and the cedar-y drydown… it smells fresh, but not too fresh or teenagery, nor is it a cloud of vanilla and sugar 🙂

you should try the intense too, it’s a different, more spicy feel.

I adore this perfume and I picture the same type of girl wearing this scent as what You described. 🙂
If i manage to run out of one of my perfumes, this is what I will be purchasing – untill then, I always smell it when I pass a store selling it.
(I’m almost out of my SJP Lovely, yay – btw, I really loved that one, but it was too faint. : / I’d love to purchase the Narcisso Rodriguez For Her, which is very similar but way more intense and long lasting, but it’s sooo expensive 🙁 )

I got this perfume just when it came out a little more than two years ago. It’s the only perfume I’ve gone to for a daily perfume except for Coco Mademoiselle. Love it 🙂

Chloe’ Parfum was my signature fragrance . I have eleven empty one ounce crystle bottles, It has been my favorite since the late 1970’s made by Karl of Lagerfeld, of Paris. Then when I could no longer buy the Parfum, I could find the edt ( aka toilet water ) made by Cody Prestige they only sold the Parfum in 1/4 or 1/8 oz. mimis. Can any one till me if this is the same old Chole’? I did hear some one said it makes people sneeze and I am optimistic that is is the same OLD scent. LOVE Chloe’

Nope, it’s not the same one as the “old” chloe. You can still buy the old one at perfumania. It’s on sale.

I just bought this scent. I have never bought myself an actual bottle of perfume before. I’m almost 30. I love it because it smells very girly and floral. It smells really nice on me in my opinion. I’m planning on wearing it on my wedding day October 2nd this year!!! Very excited. I had it sprayed on me about 2 hours ago, and it’s still going very strong! I think that’s a good sign. My co-workers are giving it mixed reviews like some think it’s a younger scent meant for those 25 and under. A few others have said it reminds them of an old lady. So I guess it’s all preference. It reminds me of a summer day with all the flowers in bloom riding my bike along the bike path near the river. So sweet and it still has a powerful tone to it. I think it’s unique and just what I’ve been looking for. So I guess I don’t care what anyone else thinks. Thanks for the review!
