In Daydreams, I See Oceans of Shimmer: The Glossy, Glittery Glossimers From the New Chanel Revelation Collection

April 11th, 2013 by Karen 46 Comments

Chanel Daydream Glossimer
Starring in a reverie near you, Chanel’s $29.50 Daydream Glossimer…

“When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

Wouldn’t that look great on a t-shirt? Or a bumper sticker? Or maybe tattooed on a Chanel addicted beauty fanatic’s inner wrist (in sans serif font, of course)?

This, my friend, is my new makeup mantra: “When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

It occurred to me earlier this week — a revelation of sorts — as I was trying to figure out to wear to that work lunch I went in the city last Tuesday.

I was stumped and rutting around through my makeup drawer. Couldn’t figure out what I wanted to wear, and then I remembered the quad and blush from the spring 2013 collection and spotted one of the new Glossimers from the new Chanel Revelation collection.

“When in doubt, Chanel it out.”

Oh, babe! The spring collection’s glosses, and that Taboo nail polish, are fodder for daydreams. Think glossy, glittery lips and rich, interstellar indigo tips that twinkle like little stars.

For the season, Coco’s crew positioned the Glossimers as essentials for your makeup kit, like must-have purses and shoes — wearable, flexible, because they can go with so many different outfits and looks. The collection includes a mix of 10 new and re-promoted glosses, some of them on the sheer, subtle side, like sheens, and others sparkly metallics.

Three of the high-shine shades — Ocean Shimmer, Rose Sauvage and Daydream — have been spending time on my lips this week, and they’re so sparkly that they steal the spotlight when I wear them with my favorite chandelier earrings.

P.S. G’morning! Another sunny day here on my side of the keyboard in Nor Cal. I have the feeling today’s going to be one of those days where I need a few extra helpings of caffeine. You up for a virtual Starbucks run?

      Hi Agata,

And that will be a beautiful day! I wish they would repromote Astral, which is my favorite Glossimer of all time. It’s this really beautiful sparkly hot pink…amazing.

Okay, what’s should we order you for the virtual Starbucks run? I’m getting a dirty Chai latte.

Sephora is having their VIB 15% sale going on till 04/22. I am really tempted to splurge on a lipstick or a lip gloss from the spring Dior collection. The Princess lipstick is such a flattering pink color.

I will have a Vanilla Latte, sugar free!

My list is too long to be ever fulfilled 🙂 I’d like to get some moisturizer from Origins and the Beauty Elixir from Claudalie and YSL Touche Eclat foundation and the Buxom Bronzer from the new collection 🙂 That’s just a few things….

I just tried that new Buxom Bronzer today! It’s pretty good.

I mostly need hair stuff. Shampoo and conditioner from In Living Proof, some styling things. I’m also on a body care kick.

Speaking of hair, yay for your new peek-a-boo highlights. What did you hubs say about your new ‘do?

Ohh I have always wanted to try the Living Proof products. Are they really good?

I love my new hair. Hubby said it is ok, he liked just blonde better but he said that if I like it he is fine with it.

I’ve had good luck with their Restore shampoo and conditioner (the ones in the purple bottles) and Straight Spray. My hair is really hard to manage and I’m very picky!

Glad that you are thrilled with your new hair. Changing your color is so fun, isn’t it? It gets addictive, which is why I ended up with pink hair last year, LOL.

      Hi Kellie,

I firmly believe that every gal needs at least ONE Chanel Glossimer in her life. When you see your magic shade, you’ll know. For me it was Astral. 🙂

Squeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I can’t get enough glossimers. Ever!!!!

Wow, that was a lot of exclamation points there. I guess Chanel just brings the giggling fangirl out of me.

I’m on a minimal caffeine diet these days so I’ll just have a White Hot Chocolate. I’m not a big dark chocolate fan so regular hot cocoa at Starbucks is a little much for me. White Hot Cocoa on the other hand is decadent and delicious!

    Thanks Karen!

Do you have a favorite Glossimer? Mine is Astral.

Great choice on the classic black quilted! Consignment stores are the best. I couldnt afford them without the great consignment stores in L.A/Pasadena.

I figure it would go with everything. I live within driving distance of some posh neighborhoods with fancy consignment stores, but I’ve yet to find anything super cool like a Chanel purse. Random wrap dresses and BCBG shoes, yes. But no Chanel purses yet! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed.

I’m thinking for my next big birthday (in two years…40, holy sh*t), I may splurge on one. 🙂

          Have you always loved purses?

Daydream is the most gorgeous gloss I’ve seen in a LONG time. Why must you do this to me? I don’t need another gloss! 🙂 Once again, I’m saved by the fact that there is no Chanel counter around me. That’s one positive about living in the sticks. 🙂

I hope your Starbucks helped. I just downed a Cherry Coke Zero and I’m still sleepier than all get out! On a funny note, I googled “all get out” to make sure that it wasn’t some strange local expression and saw that it’s in Merriam-Webster. Learn something new every day. 🙂

So, the coffee is beginning to kick in, thank goodness. I hope you had that Cherry Coke Zero over ice!

HAHA! I knew you would say that. And Daydream is still as lovely today as it was yesterday (darn it!).

No, straight up from the can. I’m not a big ice fan (cold can hurt my teeth). Between aggressive brushing when I had braces – I’m sure you can relate! – and getting older, the poor choppers can be sensitive. 🙂

Well, when you find yourself daydreaming about Daydream (haha!), then you know it’s time to give in. 😉

OMG, braces. Want to know something funny? Every time I got mine tightened, I swear my parents would cook the chewiest, most leathery meat dish for dinner. No joke. I think they thought it would make me stronger or something.

You are totally justified in your whining. Where I live there are a ton of cupcake shops (it’s very trendy), but there’s only one that I absolutely love because their cupcakes have the most flavor. If they ever closed up shop, I’d probably throw a huge fit. OMG, red velvet with cream cheese frosting…
