Chanel Rouge Allure Lipsticks in Naive and Curious: Basic, But Beautiful

June 10th, 2009 by Karen 42 Comments

The new Les Naturels De Chanel collection repurposes two previously released Rouge Allure lipstick colors ($30 each), and I’m tickled pink!

Curious (a creamy brown) and Naive (a shimmery pink) first appeared last year as part of Chanel Summer 2008.

I can see why they brought these two babies back. Both shades may be basic neutrals, but they’re good staples to have around for conservative lip looks to offset more dramatic eyes.

The two colors are consistent with the neutral vibe of Les Naturels De Chanel.

Like other Rouge Allure lipsticks, I think both of these shades have a consistency like MAC’s Lustre lipsticks — lighter than a matte or cream and slick on the lips.

Curious

Curious is the warmer of the two, a toasted almond brown with a hint of golden shimmer, and I think it would look great beneath Unity Glossimer or any other shimmery golden brown lipgloss. If you like your lips to look natural and wear warm colors well, you might give Curious a try. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Naive

Naive reminds me of something Angelina Jolie would wear down the red carpet with killer cat eyeliner. It’s a cool pink with subtle golden shimmer, and methinks it’ll look fantabulous with something sheer like Waterlily Glossimer. If you’re into natural-ish pink lips or wear lots of looks with smokey eyes, take a gander at Naive. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Curious, Naive

Yeah, I don’t think either of these colors revolutionizes the lipstick world as we know it, but they are what they are — basic, elegant, neutral shades that most women could wear every day.

Birthday steal of a deal!

calvin-klein-dress

Yesterday afternoon I quit work early and headed to the mall to do some damage with my birthday gift certificate from El Hub.

I ended up coming home with this yellow polka dotted dress by Calvin Klein.

Nordie’s had it marked down to $49 from $118!

I plan to give it a good home. 🙂

Thank you very much for your birthday wishes yesterday. You guys made my day.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Yadi,

I like both neutrals and brights, but lately have been leaning towards the neutrals (it’s a phase!).

I can totally see you wearing Curious. 🙂

I picked up Naive a few weeks back… it’s a great neutral shade for me and looks great against my fair skin.

Super cute dress. I’ve been having a hard time finding cute summer dresses this year… but good score on your part!

      Hi Tuprnut,

I really like Naive, too. It looks super pretty with a lil’ bit of clear gloss popped onto the bottom lip. 🙂

I’ve been looking for dresses at Old Navy and Gap and nothing has been moving me. I’ve never thought of myself as a Calvin Klein kinda girl but I think I might be now!

I love bubble dresses. I’ve got a black one from Nanette Lepore I think, and now this one. They work on my shape well haha.
and not to brag or anything, but… IT WENT FANTASTIC. =D
The paid speaker came up to me later and said that I was a tough act to follow lol. Thanks so much for recommending waterproof mascara. I bawled my eyes out at the end of the ceremony.

      Hi Kailey,

Oh, that’s great! I’m happy to hear it went well. Public speaking is one of the big fears that people have so you are very lucky to have conquered it early. It’s a skill that will serve you well in life.

And yay, waterproof mascara. It never hurts to wear it for those big life moments!

    Hey Karen!
Happy Birthday!!!! Your post on growing older was quite profound and really made me think. After all the things people say about aging, I really feel, as cliched as it sounds, its ALL in the mind. Hope you enjoyed your day and good luck for all your endeavors in the coming year!

and Lash Visor is a gift from above. I freaking swear, I do not know what I did without that stuff. I think I was the only girl wearing waterproof, because every other girl has raccoon eyes and black streaks afterwords lol.

      Hi Kailey,

See, it never hurts to be prepared. 😉

Public speaking gets easier the more and more you do it. I’m pretty comfortable with it, but I still get the initial flutter beforehand… that never goes away.

Btw, what a great deal on that dress!!! That’s a beautiful dress and looks so summer-y. The design is quite my style too. And yellow really brightens everything up, doesn’t it?

Hi Karen! I love that dress. I picked up a cute yellow dress last year, and can’t wait to wear it again.

I really love both those lipstick colours, and am very tempted, as I don’t own any colours that go well with dark eyes (and I rather love dark eye makeup, possibly due to the influence of dance competitions, heh).

Hey there!! Happy Bday (belated…)!! I have a funny story about your post!

I see where you headed to the mall (sweet sweet dress!) with your birthday certificate from ‘El Hub’. My immediate thought was:

El Hub? Need to google it cuz my birthday is rushin up… wanna get one of their gift cards…. WAIT!!! EL HUB????? That’s her HUSBAND dummy!!

Always on the lookout for a freebie (even from someone’s husband apparently!!),

I LOVE that dress!! So much so that I looked it up online and it was a lot more online, so I did a “live chat” with a rep and she said it’s not reduced online, but with the store number, they could sell it for the price you paid by calling instead. I don’t usually care for a lot of summer dresses, but that one is great. You got a good deal and I’m sure you’re gonna look terrific in it! But, sniffle, sniffle, I want it, too!
