Charmed, I’m Sure, by the Dolce & Gabbana Charm Pencil Collection

January 9th, 2012 by Karen 25 Comments

dolce & gabbana charm pencil collection (6)

One of the reasons why Dolce & Gabbana rules: they dangle tiny charms from their makeup JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN.

Never you mind that the charms enchanting the eight-piece limited edition Charm Pencil collection don’t really serve a purpose beyond looking cute as they swing from their respective lip and eye liners. If we have the right to accessorize, so should our makeup! Viva la cuteness for us all! 🙂

Every time I catch a glimpse of the dainty golden envelopes, high heels, hearts and horns hanging from these pencils, which arrive next month (just in time for Valentine’s Day!), while I attend to my lips or eyes, I’m transported back to the kinder, gentler days of my youth, when a trip to the Hello Kitty store to buy a $4 mechanical pencil with a charm swinging on the end was one of the highlights of my week.

Of course, because these pencils are from Dolce & Gabbana, they cost somewhat more than that — like $29 more, to be exact.

The collection is comprised of four creamy pencil eyeliners and four liners for lips, and the charms represent different things, from fashion for the high heels, to love and luck for the heart and horn, passion for the heart and “I Love You” table, and Milan for the envelope and letter.

If some of the shades look familiar, you have eagle eyes! Most of them can already be found in the permanent line, where their non-charmed cousins are available for $30 each.

But where’s the fun in that? 🙂

I would’ve loved to see Dolce & Gabbana conjure up all new, special shades for this launch, but I like what they have done, by taking something that already existed and making it more beautiful. If you’ve been thinking about picking up replacements/spares for any of your Dolce & Gabbana pencil faves (hello, Stromboli!), consider the Charmed versions when they arrive next month.

PRICE: $33 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to Dolce & Gabbana counters inside Saks Fifth Avenue stores, and also online

A new Trader Joe’s obsession…

Spicy Shrimp Bao! I found it in the frozen food aisle a few weeks ago, and now every time I hit the store I bring home one or two boxes.

They’re not too spicy, but oh — so yummy! Just cook them in a steamer or microwave for a quick, tasty snack, or serve them with a salad for a full meal. I’ve had them before with Trader Joe’s Super Spinach Salad, and I thought the flavors all went together really well.

Now that’s a super salad, haha!

I hope you had a nice Monday today and that something good happened to you. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love the presentation of these pencils and I found some pork buns at my trader Joe’s and can’t leave without at least two boxes.

Omg! I want a glitter pencil with the leads you pull out and pop into the top for a fresh tip! And don’t forget the erasers! Ahhh memories!

These are so cute! That navy with gold-OMG. It’s just too much for me to handle. I don’t have any liner that looks like that!

Those pencils are pretty, especially Stromboli. But no D&G in this part of the world..maybe it’s a good thing?

Ohhh the baos look amazing. I’m a sucker for Char Siu Baos that are baos filled with sweet and sour pork. There’s one Asian grocery store selling it here and everytime I go in, I end up buying all their stock – which usually is 4 packets. I hope they don’t ban me for emptying their stock.

I am told by a friend living in USA about Dolce-Gabbana makeup that anything with the name Stromboli is a must have and I can see why………Its a ‘Charming’ collection…loved the eye pencils with a silent prayer that they r not as hard as they used to be before as their cousins are! I loved the Salad too!

The charms are super cute, but is it weird that I’m actually more excited about how adorable the packaging is for the Super Spinach Salad ?! Lol!

Oo I love the charms! I’m wondering if they would add weight to the pencil or get in the way (when sharpened further down perhaps) when applying? Since you didn’t mention either, I’m assuming not. Normally, I can’t justify spending $33 for a pencil but I really want the little shoe charm..

I’m digging Stromboli, Coffee, Nude, and Soft! My only issue with these is that I don’t go out of my house with an eyeliner/lip liner, so as cute as they are I’ll probably remain the only person who can admire their beauty…

The shrimp baos look delicious!!! You’re making me homesick lol

Coffee looks a lot like MAC Avenue fluidline. FIngers crossed….

Speaking of TJs, I’m going there today! I hope they have those frozen coffee & cream bars. 🙂

I was just at TJs yesterday and didn’t see shrimp baos. Going to have to make another stop. Damn you, TJs!!

How cute are those charms? I love the flecks of glitter in Stromboli and Coffee. 🙂 Sadly, I’d have to pass on the shrimp bao even if we had a TJs. Darn shellfish allergy.

Very cute! I want them! Are these on the ends or on the caps? And are my eyes wonky or are there gold charms amongst the silver?
