A Summery Reddish Orange Lip With Dolce & Gabbana’s Classic Cream Lipstick in Fire

Wearing Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Fire ($33)

OK, so my next door neighbor has these flowers in her front yard, and there’s this orangey red one. Every single time I walk by it I have to stop and stare for a few seconds because it’s so vibrant and eye-catching.

Reddish orange flower from my neighbor's front yard
Hello, beautiful!

I was under its spell yesterday and thought, “I need to find a lipstick like that…”

Then I thought, “And I need to wear that lipstick…”

Then I pictured dream Karen throwing her arms up in the air, twirling around in circles and screaming, “It’s summer, world! HAAAAAAY!”

OK, that last part didn’t happen. 🙂 But maybe if I’d had a glass of wine first…

Anyways! The flower looked exactly like Fire, one of the reformulated Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipsticks I mentioned yesterday.

An opaque electric orangey red, Fire sometimes borders on coral, depending on what I’m wearing (it’s kind of a chameleon), like this reddish coral shift dress I’m wearing today.

Today I think Fire looks more coral, but when I wear a black or white shirt, I think it looks more red.

Now, about the formula, my lips aren’t in the best shape right now. They’ve been very dry lately (I think they got wind burned in Redding), and there’s some flaking along the edges, but not when they’re on Fire!

LOL! Sorry, bad pun. I just wanted to write “…not when they’re on Fire!”

I meant, not when I’m wearing Fire. 🙂

It applies smoothly and incredibly opaque, and here I’m only wearing one layer.

YEAH!

It’s available now with the rest of the Classic Cream Lipstick line at Dolce & Gabbana counters and saksfifthavenue.com.

A Netflix-related public service announcement

If you subscribe to Netflix, and in case you didn’t know, The Craft is available!

Vest, white baby tee, black skirt, over-the-knee socks and all, haha!

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve seen this freaking movie. I’ve actually lost count.

I don’t know what it is about ’90s witchy chicks, but there’s something very cool about the whole thing.

It stars Neve Cambell (remember her?!), Skeet Ulrich, Fairuza Balk and Robin Tunney (also from The Mentalist, and oh! — girlfriend has not changed! She looks the same, so I’ll have whatever she’s having, thankyouverymuch).

I’m gonna watch it again tonight, hopefully with a bag of See’s candy (yes, I’m still craving chocolate).

Have you seen The Craft? And what are some of the movies you can totally watch over and over again (also up there for me: Bring It On, Clueless, Step Brothers, Mean Girls, any sort of bad movie about demonic possession, Reality Bites, Blue Crush…and that’s all I can think of at the moment). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Red oranges are one of those shades I can’t seem to get enough of. I have NARS Heat Wave, Sonia Kashuk Red Orange, (some others), and still want Urban Decay Bang. Because there’s never enough! And by never enough, I’m going to soon mean “never enough days in the week to wear all of these.”

I’ve never seen The Craft, but I’ll have to check it out. What ever happened to Neve? I can’t remember the last time I saw her.

That lipstick looks amazing on you! I tend tho gravitate toward cool-toned reds, though. Omg, I’ve watched Mean Girls and Clueless so many times. Seriously, if Clueless ever gets a remake, I could be Cher.

That lipstick is gorgeous! Oh baby tee’s, how ugly they were! One movie I can watch over and over: Dirty Dancing! Liked The Craft when it came out, don’t think I’ve watched it since though. Clueless and Mean Girls are still funny to me, anything Tina Fey touches is amazing, still will watch reruns of 30 Rock when I run across them! I have more in common with Liz Lemon than I’d like to admit!

Hey Karen! This is ravishing on you! Looks really similar to Givenchy’s Le Rouge Carmin Escarpin.. poppy red! I actually prefer pinky reds on me.. and these sort of make me look too yellow! 😐

Anything orange looks awful on me, but this is a stunner on you! It makes your teeth look even whiter, if that was possible. 🙂 It was a running joke that I used to watch the Fugitive every time it was on. Also, Lord of the Rings (all 3), the Mummy and Terminator (and True Lies, Running Man and Total Recall, while I’m thinking of Arnold). There are probably 100 others that I’ve watched many, many times. Definitely a movie junkie.

Wow! That is some fierce pigmentation and saturated orange colour! It looks fabulous 🙂 (both the flower and the lipstick, I should say)

10 things I hate about you, I think I watched that movie until I memorized half the lines and learnt all the words to the soundtrack. It’s been my guilty pleasure for ages.
Also, love that lipstick shade although for all my tanned complexion I just can’t pull off orange lipstick shades! 🙁
