Amethyst, Ruby, Emerald and Topaz: A Jeweler’s Inventory, or the New Classic Cream Lipsticks in the Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Jewels Collection

The four new Classic Cream Lipsticks from the Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Jewels Collection, coming this November. From the left: Amethyst, Ruby, Emerald and Topaz.

In the event you were wondering how it feels to wear green lipstick late on a Monday afternoon…

Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Emerald
Straaaange!

Emerald, one of four new Classic Cream Lipsticks in the eight-piece Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Jewels holiday collection, is one of those colors that can look edgy and cute if you’re a teen or in your early 20s…but fast-forward a decade or two and it’s “Hello, Helena Bonham Crazy!”

The four jewel-toned lipsticks in the release ($35 each) are joined by four matching nail polishes, so yeah, while you’re sporting your funky green lip, you can also rock green claws/paws.

I think Emerald’s the most fashion-forward lippie in the collection by far (I’ve yet to see the nail polishes up close and personal), and to truly pull it off, you either have to be a villain from the Harry Potter movies or a 6-foot-tall model stomping down a runway in Milan.

Or something like that.

Who cares though? It’s still fun. 🙂

The other lipsticks seem pretty tame by comparison. Red Ruby, purple Amethyst and amber Topaz take a more classic route.

All four medium-coverage lippies have the lightweight, slick texture of other Classic Creams and Dolce & Gabbana’s signature rose flavor and scent.

Like the precious gemstones they’re named after, these will be sparkling on Dolce & Gabbana counters in Saks Fifth Avenue stores and computer monitors (when they’re available online) this November.

Quick survey: do you think you’d ever wear Emerald?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    LMAO at “Helena Bonham Crazy!”

I could actually see that emerald lipcolor looking really cool on someone with a very, very dark complexion. On me, however…. yeah, I’ll stick with the nail polish!

    HOLY MOLY.

GREEN LIPSTICK! That just made my day. HAHA.

I simply wouldn’t wear a color that outrageous unless I am super pale and it’s Halloween.

Emerald is CRAY . It seems perfect for a Halloween look . Haha .

Topaz would look beautiful layered on top of lipsticks , especially red !

I love Topaz, and the packaging with the gems on the caps is way too up my alley- I just had a royal-themed bday party (not to rave about it in the comments, but it was jewel-encrusted EVERYTHING with acrylic gems and my hot glue gun!!) So it will be hard for me to resist either the Amethyst, Ruby, or Topaz.

Bejewelled lips! I am surprised Amethyst turned out looking good– i normally wouldn’t even swatch that kind of colour on the tube.

I couldn’t stop smiling at the ‘Hello, Helena…’ line. You are waaay beyond cute!

If I had just seen it in the tube, then no way, but after seeing it on you, maybe.

These looks so cool in the tube, but would I actually wear emerald lipstick? Probably not.

That is too funny about Helena crazy. You’re right, though. That totally looks like something she would wear! Actually, I think you pull it off quite well, too. It looks more like a gray on my screen, so slightly more elegant than She-Hulk. 🙂

This post shows why I love beauty blogs. Emerald lipstick? Never even considered it…and I still never will. Love looking at the photos though. The other colors all looked lovely on you! I agree with your assessment of the Emerald. Depends on the look you’re aiming for…

You pull off Emerald surprisingly well! As well as one can pull off green lipstick anyway. . .I love the look of the Ruby one though. Very very pretty.

I actually really like Emerald on you! I like the other colors too, but they’re not so edgy and are more basic colors. I don’t think I’d wear it on a regular day at work, but when I’m going out to a nightclub party here in Holland…. yeah I think I would.

Hmmm…. the green is not flattering but surprisingly the others are! However, I think that’s just on you. YOU can wear anything. Me? Um… not so.

I’m not tempted by any of these (i favor pinky lipsticks), but I LOVE the jewel design on the packaging!

The only shade I see myself wearing is Ruby! I wish these were more pigmented though. If I were ever to sport a green lip, I’d want it to be richer and darker!
