Elegant and Easy Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in Apparence Satisfies Demanding Inner Lazy Girls

Wearing the new Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in Apparence

It’s funny, but for a slacker, MILG is actually pretty demanding.

MILG — My Inner Lazy Girl — hasn’t been sleeping well lately, and so she has me coveting cream eyeshadows like Golem covets the One Ring in LOTR!

And the lack of shuteye only serves to make MILG more demanding… Most mornings, I find it easier to just give in than fight, so when she tells me to pat shimmery golden bronze Apparence, a new $36 limited edition Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow shade from Chanel’s upcoming holiday collection, on my lids with a finger and then buff out the edges with a MAC 217, I do a Kanye shrug and go with the flow.

Sometimes, I will fight for MILG to let me add some black liner on my water lines, because I love how it contrasts with the golden bronze (I’m wearing it in these pics).

Any which way I wear it, Apparence always lights up my lids. It’s no substitute for eight hours of sleep, but it’s sure better than nothing.

Additional Chanel makeup worn in this look: Star Dust Joues Contrastes Powder Blush, Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Impatiente and Glossimer in Mystery, Mat Lumiere Foundation in Soft Honey and Poudre Universelle Natural Finish Loose Powder in Translucent 3

Chanel loaded this sheer, feather-weight cream shadow with tiny flecks of gold and bronze shimmer that twinkle like stars on my skin. Nothing too bejeweled/disco/showgirl here… It’s more of an opalescent candlelit glow.

So elegant, so easy, and never, ever overdone. And it lasts pretty much all day long on my oily eyelids with very little creasing.

Apparence may not pack enough glitter or shine to make everyone say, “KAPOW!” but if you’re bone tired and want a beautiful way to brighten your lids, I think it’s well worth a swipe.

PRICE: $36
AVAILABILITY: Coming next month to Chanel counters and chanel.com

Lunch, like life, is all about improv

I haven’t been able to do my grocery shopping this week, so I’m down to improv meals — you know, where you just throw a bunch of stuff together and pray that the result isn’t too disgusting, LOL!

Thank goodness for Trader Joe’s Hearty Vegetable Broth. Today a box of that stuff saved my butt.

It’s great for improv soups. I warm it up on the stove, throw in whatever fresh or frozen vegetables I have, along with rice or noodles, and frozen shrimp or egg for protein, and voilà! Instant — well, sustenance. 🙂

What did you have for lunch today? Anything good?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really like the color, but think I might want to swatch it in person before I can make up my mind. The other Illusion d’Ombre I have, Vision, seems to be along the same line in terms of the sheerness. I’m more used to something that packs more kapow!

I think sheer can be a great thing, especially for work looks!

Yet another beautiful Chanel! Delicate and lovely, but awful for my wallet! D:

It’s like Chanel did everything in their power to make this collection near-perfect! Can you believe it’s even more gorgeous in person?

That looks lovely. I adore a shimmery cream shadow to make me look better rested.

Lunch today was also a scrounge through the fridge kind of thing. I scrambled a couple of eggs with a torn up tortilla and some goat cheese crumbles and topped it off with avocado and a drizzle of hot sauce. To add to your TMI from a previous post today, I find this to be a great PMS meal!

That sounds REALLY GOOD. I’m going to try that, but with a drizzle of sriracha! Maybe I’ll throw in some cubed potatoes, too.

      LOL, totally PMSing right now.

HAHAHA I’m a MILG through and through! I admit it! But golds and me don’t get along very well. 🙁

      Hi Tracy,

This one’s got a bit of bronze in it — might make it more wearable?

MILG has good taste! I had BBQ Brisket when Hubby and I met up for Lunch Date Day. Good times!

Apparence appears to look very similar to Essence Stay All Day cream shadow in The Glammy Goes To… that I bought last week-end. For those who can’t $36 in a cream shadow, it might be a good substitute!

It’s a beautiful shade but the first thing I saw was the Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Impatiente. Of course I did. This collection is like Givenchy’s Candide Garden all over again, for me. 🙂

Ooohh I do the throw stuff in a pot trick often. I always have some stock or broth in the fridge and the fixings to make a quick soup or stew. 🙂

Im not such a huge fan of this Illusion D Ombre. Its not wowing me. 🙂 Which is a good thing because … everything else in this collection is!

Love how pale golds, champagne and beigey shadows glow on the eyes. I don’t know about $36 smackers though! Chanel is getting out of my price range. Love the contrast of this look too–very classy.

I like the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Illusoire. Especially for the lower lids below the lashes. Today I made a Thai rice noodle soup with fresh shitake, lemongrass, shallots chicken, cilantro, scallions, garlic and chili. Pretty yum. I have a sprained ankle and I swear I felt it warm up and it felt better after the soup. Now a cup of raspberry rosehips tea. Beauty inside and out is my goal.
