Eyeko Has an Eye for Nail Polishes in Spring and Summer 2010

May 18th, 2010 by Karen 28 Comments

Girl, I’ve got my Eyeko Eye on you — Eyeko as in the London-based beauty brand that’s part manga at heart. Manga? You know, the Japanese comic art form? Eyeko flat-out loves the stuff.

Ironically, I don’t really see manga reflected in their five new spring/summer nail colors, but they still score mega-adorable points from me for their dainty .30 oz. bottles, darling labels and edgy colors.

Eyeko Nail Polishes for Spring and Summer 2010

  • Petite: a creamy, semi-transparent baby pink
  • Tea Rose: a creamy rose
  • Posh: a creamy taupe
  • Coral: a creamy reddish coral
  • Vampira: a semi-matte black with red glitter

You may recall some Eyeko polishes we talked about back in December. These are even better. Where those applied streaky with bubbles, these go on as smooth as silk.

Despite being surprisingly thick, they’re not hard to apply, and two coats produce pigment that’s fully opaque.

I like everything in this batch of colors, but my favorites are Coral (so bright and summery!) and Petite Polish (what a perfect pinky nude).

eyeko tea rose polish

eyeko posh polish

eyeko vampira polish

These are limited edition, but I wouldn’t worry about them disappearing soon, as the company seems to hold on to colors for a while. Five of the six shades I tried back in December are still available online.

Each bottle costs $5.50 USD, but Eyeko’s running a special now where you can buy all five of the new shades for $21. That doesn’t includes shipping across the pond, however, so would-be US customers will have to add another $7.50 for that (and be prepared to wait 21+ days for delivery).

I really like these colors and packaging, and love that Eyeko improved the formula over those other polishes I tried before. If you dig unusual indie brands, these spring/summer shades might be well worth the 21-day wait! Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

You might like Eyeko’s new spring/summer nail polish shades if…

  • You collect nail polishes and beauty products from indie brands
  • You like polishes with a thick formula
  • You like cute packaging
  • You like feminine, edgy colors

Movie date?

I’m not even half way through re-re-re-watching the series again, and I’ve already whipped myself into a frothy SATC 2 movie frenzy! Bay Area gals, maybe we can meet at a theater somewhere (wearing our best pairs of heels, of course)? If you’re interested, send me an email or a DM on twitter.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m loving tea rose, reminds me of the NYX lipstick of the same name. I don’t think I have any colors like that either, Coral’s pretty hot too, and perfect for summer (blegh not that I can tell it’s summer with this weather)

Tea rose is super pretty! and so is posh and coral! i want them all 😀 haha for me, petite polish seemed a bit sheer at first, but after looking at it for awhile.. i kinda want to get it as well! it seems like it could definately fake a nice french manicure 😉 i wonder what the shipping and wait time will be for canada.. probably double 🙁

Petite and Posh are pretty! I have a thing for barely there polishes so im loving Petite. Posh on the other hand is a bit edgier but still understated. Lovely!

Bestie and I might watch it next week …. not sure when yet though! I wish I lived in the Bay Area so I could join you in the SATC date!

As far as I know in the US availability is limited to online. You might want to contact them to ask if there are stores here in the us. Here’s the link:

I love their colors but whenever I try Eyeko polishes they peel off the same day. (Even with the Seche Vite top coat)

I’m close to SF and suffering from friends-who-are-too-cool-for-mainstream-movies syndrome: an SATC 2 meetup would be the perfect cure!!! Please oh please keep us posted, Karen!
